Izale McLeod linked with Leicester

To be fair Mort, check his two previous seasons. He scored about 20 goals each season in a struggling League One team. His goal scoring record is probably better than Hume's and Fryatt's at that level and we paid £500,000+ for both of them.

I'm not saying I want him here, definitely not if he'll cost over a million. But £500k for a striker who's scored 60+ goals in 3 seasons at League One & League Two level will fetch that sort of bunce. Especially when he's still only 22.

But i dont like being fair  ... I'm happily sat in my anti-McLeod rut

...then again what you say is right, though in the times they were saying MkDons are now after £2mil for him (!), when you mention Fryatt and Elvis, yeah perhaps a figure around £500k is more realistic... but as you say I wouldnt want him here when players like Saga and even Eastwood are avalible.

haha whose that city fan!?? lolol loook what they want for izale! lol lol lol lol

'Izale is very underated and is definitely good enough for the championship. He needs to stop being lazy but im sure if he went to Leicester MA wouldn't let him. Im don't think he will go to leicester because i don't think him and carl cort would play together because there too alike. If he does go i hope we get a million and Mark De Vries in exchange'

In this mornings Times it says the MK Dons are willing to let McLeod go for 2million, which interests new Leicester and ex MK Dons manager Martin Allen.

2 million, you must be kidding!! Thats way too much for him. Billy Sharp is going to costs something around that, theres no way we should pay that much for Izale

Agreed. If we're spending that sort of cash on a player we should be aiming our sights higher than mcleod

The article says it "may" interest Leicester/Allen... but i agree their having a laugh touting him at £2mil... to be honest they'd be having a laugh if they value him as anything more than £5-600k (not that I'd want him even at that price)... sounds more and more like MkDons are trying to generate some cash and planning on flogging McLeod to do it... dont seem to be many takers at the current price though...

I wonder if clubs like MK Dons are putting figures like this out there when they hear we are interesting because they know we have Milan. Im not saying we do actually have 2 mil to blow on someone like McLeod, but i just wonder whether we will end up paying more for players now because clubs think we have masses to spend

agreed id rather go for billy sharp anyway and especially if they are expectin 1mill plus for him! their a league 2 side so they should be grateful for 500k! maybe throw in a few corner flags and bibs lol

Perhaps to a certain extent, but no more than most championship clubs who aspire to pushing for promotion... I think those clubs with really deep pockets (Wolves) or those with parachute money (Watford, Charlton and Sheff Utd) are in a more vulnerable position... i think the benfits of actually being able to compete for players (which we were totally incapable of until this summer) vastly outweigh any potential inflation of prices for players we're targetting.

We will not pay anywhere near £2 million pounds nor probably £1 million for any player this summer. Milan has no intention, it is all just PR tricks to make us sound attractive as a club.

We will sell players, but most buys will be free transfers or cheap acquisitions. From Milan's point of view, it makes sense. He has bought the club (I assume using debt finance), so better to asset-strip (sale of McCarthy for £650, possibly someone like Kisnorbo to go as well) and use the money to draw down the levels of debt, whilst replacing the players with free transfers who are can do a job or are just as good. There is a reason Milan said 3 years to get into the premiership. Maybe next year, debt will be drawn down to sufficient levels that large money can then be spent.

To be fair we need to bring in at about ten players this summer...squad players as well as first teamers. If Milan is going to spend big it will be next summer when the squad needs augmenting, not this season when we need to buy so many players. I would assume that the wage bill will be increasing dramatically.

I disagree that he plans to asset strip the club to service the debt and the story behind his sale does seem to be supported by his comments since signing for Charlton. I would only believe he was planning to do that if he listed or sold Kisnorbo, Fryatt, Hume.

I think it was always in Milan's plans to sell one or two players with value to raise a bit of money. More in the name of good business than anything else, simply because these players could be replaced for a large saving with a few free transfers (like N'Gotty or maybe De Zeeuw).

With regards McCarthy, the questions are, how was such a deal arranged? Did Charlton approach us out the blue? Were Charlton made aware of his availability? Was the contract offered to McCarthy worse terms to what he is currently receiving? I would guess (admittedly it is a guess) that we made McCarthy's availibility known to Charlton and possibly one or two other clubs, probably through an agent.

I'd agree with that but I still disagree that Mandaric intended to/does intend to sell players with value. That doesn't seem to fit into the outline of what he and Allen are trying to achieve. I do agree with the explanation that McCarthy didn't want to sign so they didn't want him here and I think once it became clear that he wasn't going to sign they shopped him about to take advantage of the situation whilst he was still valuable.

part of his deal to buy the club was to invest at least 4.5million each this season and next season itno the club.

at first i thought if we brought in 5 players i would be happy. but in releasing those that we did and then transfer listing another 5.. it seems ten might even be surpassed...

when you consider also we only gave 8 academy kids contracts AND we will be having a reserve team next season.... you can see an influx of alot of players... OR 5 trialists for every reserve game. lol.

We dont need him if hes gonna cost us 2million squid. Flamin' rip off!! I have him for 600k though....clearly not happening!

Jon. Let it go mate.

You won't be able to educate them. They just won't learn.

There are none so blind as those that don't want to see....

So far there is no evidence he will invest more than that so their opinion is no more invalid than yours.

I'm not saying it's invalid.

The point is they don't understand the difference between overall investment and investment in playing staff.

Even then they fail to appreciate the distinction between funds for wages and the actual transfer fees themselves.

But he still might only invest 4.5m in total per season. ;)

Yeah but thats into the club as a whole, not just the playing and management staff.

Isn't it
