Fez of Mahrez Posted 11 June 2007 Posted 11 June 2007 Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm. McLeod and Cort up front next season. Lank central.
lookwhaticando Posted 11 June 2007 Posted 11 June 2007 Just caught SSN, they were reading out a statement regarding a player and willing to listen to offers, I wasn't really paying attention, then the bloke says "and i wonder if one will be from Martin Allen and Leicester City"Dont have a clue what player they were talking about, probably McLeod, feel free to move this to wherever is suitable. Good guess, stevo.

Mort Posted 11 June 2007 Posted 11 June 2007 http://www.mkdons.premiumtv.co.uk/page/New...1034960,00.html Weird ...still with Cort i dont think McLeod is likley to be a target for us, nor do i think he's likley to be quite so over-priced as he might have been a few weeks ago... could see some of the League One clubs going after him, problem is he might be a player not good enougth for the championship but too expensive for most League One clubs?
Fez of Mahrez Posted 11 June 2007 Posted 11 June 2007 We're bound to sign him. Absolutely nailed on. No other club has even been linked with him this summer. I don't think anyone else cares.
The Reverend Posted 11 June 2007 Posted 11 June 2007 If we could get him as cheap as possible i.e about 500k, i think he could be a decent signing really And now hes on the TL, surely they'll have to accept a shit offer if we're the only ones interested?
mancunianfox Posted 11 June 2007 Posted 11 June 2007 I get the feeling that all the transfer speculation over the last fortnight linking us with Mcleod is dons generated. They spent money last summer and apparently won't have as much money for transfers this season. Perhaps they have been trying to drum up interest in order to increase his transfer value. After all if we were/are interested why would the list him?

Agree... i never really understood the speculation that surounded us and McLeod, not least the massive fee that always got linked with him... for that reason i think its possible that both the club (MKDons) and agents involved are keen to generate interest in him and I think he'll be snapped up, but if there was a serious chance of us going in for him i dont think they would have transfer listed him.
Leicester Lass Posted 11 June 2007 Posted 11 June 2007 Been transfer listed by MK Dons Following a discussion between Izale McLeod and the Chairman over the weekend, the club has reluctantly agreed to make its all-time leading goal-scorer available for transfer. Izale has recently rejected the offer of a new, extended contract that would have made him the club's highest-paid player. The England Under-21 international scored 24 goals in 40 appearances in all competitions last season and was named League Two Player of the Year at the Football League Awards in March. Dons Chairman Pete Winkelman said: "Izale believes that playing in League Two is having a detrimental effect on his chances of continuing his England career and, as everyone knows, it is the club's policy not to hinder any player's opportunity to progress. This thereby ensures that we maintain a squad that is 100% committed to our bright future." Izale McLeodThe 22-year-old hitman was joint top-scorer in League Two last season and has previously attracted a huge amount of interest from a series of clubs at higher levels. In three seasons with the club, he has scored 60 goals in 132 appearances - two of those seasons with the club fighting relegation. Mr Winkelman added: "We have decided to take this course of action now so that the new manager can be clear what playing resources will be available to him from the current squad so that he may plan accordingly. "It is no secret how highly we value Izale, but we are now prepared to listen to serious offers." http://www.mkdons.premiumtv.co.uk/page/New...0.html?ptvParm=
Vennegoor10 Posted 11 June 2007 Posted 11 June 2007 looks like something is on the cards pretty soon then

By doing this MK Dons have just lowered the potential asking price for the player. Why didnt they just wait to see if they got any offers - they could potentially then forced up the asking price by saying they did not want to sell so you will have to offer us more to make the deal worth our while. They are now in a weaker bargining position. As someone has suggested the hype may have all come from MK Dons. Maybe they hoped Leicester would bid and that was there best chance of cashing in, but we havent so they are now offering him on a silver platter. A goal nearly every two games, worth an offer of £500,000 to test the waters.
Simi Posted 11 June 2007 Posted 11 June 2007 Sounds like a 'Come and Get Me Call' to me. With Allen been there last season obviously this helps us. If we can get him for a half decent price, I don't see why he's not worth a punt. Decent record in league 2. Maybe it's Allen that gets the best out of him. But then maybe Cort could do exactly the same job, I've never really watched McLeod play so can't differentiate between how he plays and how Cort plays.
Mort Posted 11 June 2007 Posted 11 June 2007 A goal nearly every two games, worth an offer of £500,000 to test the waters. He's really not... thats a goal every two games in League Two (!), he managed a goal every twenty games last time he was in the championship... he's not worth £500k IMHO, nowhere close... but I've flogged this horse to death now
Tevez Posted 11 June 2007 Posted 11 June 2007 Got a feeling if we get Mcleod. we've got a David Nugent type player on our team.
Don't call me Mad Dog Posted 11 June 2007 Posted 11 June 2007 Got a feeling if we get Mcleod. we've got a David Nugent type player on our team. Love the thought but he's no Nugent I'm afraid.
morris1234 Posted 11 June 2007 Posted 11 June 2007 personally im not sure about mcleod as i dont know much about him im still very undecided as i reckon he lacks the quality for championship and i know this footage was specially picked but he takes some of these goals very well!!
Hullfox Posted 11 June 2007 Posted 11 June 2007 Love the thought but he's no Nugent I'm afraid. And unlike Elvis, he's not a nugget either.
shen Posted 11 June 2007 Posted 11 June 2007 personally im not sure about mcleod as i dont know much about him im still very undecided as i reckon he lacks the quality for championship and i know this footage was specially picked but he takes some of these goals very well!! Looks a useful player. He's not got great technique though, but he's got pace and strength and looks like he's an out and out striker. Seems confident when striking the ball as well. Can't be any worse than the current bunch we have
Dames Posted 11 June 2007 Posted 11 June 2007 Scored more goals this season than any striker we've got has in 3 seasons. Though it was at league 2 some will say a goal is a goal. His technique worrys me slightly, he hasn't got the best of touches.
Ric Flair Posted 12 June 2007 Posted 12 June 2007 He's really not... thats a goal every two games in League Two (!), he managed a goal every twenty games last time he was in the championship... he's not worth £500k IMHO, nowhere close... but I've flogged this horse to death now To be fair Mort, check his two previous seasons. He scored about 20 goals each season in a struggling League One team. His goal scoring record is probably better than Hume's and Fryatt's at that level and we paid £500,000+ for both of them. I'm not saying I want him here, definitely not if he'll cost over a million. But £500k for a striker who's scored 60+ goals in 3 seasons at League One & League Two level will fetch that sort of bunce. Especially when he's still only 22.
