causer7 Posted 9 July 2007 Posted 9 July 2007 from the peopleS-MART MOVE FOR ROBBIE BARCLAYS PREMIER LEAGUE LEICESTER manager Martin Allen is ready to give Robbie Fowler the chance to extend his career. He will be offered a £22,000-a-week deal to replace £1m Elvis Hammond, wanted by Mallorca. Allen is also keen on defender Talal El Karkouri, who was released by Charlton. The People Didn't someone just invent this rumour about Elvis on Football rumours and now it appears in The Sunday People!!!! £1million for Elvis Hammond  Proves you shouldn't believe everything you read Fowler would grab us a load of goals
BigGibbo Posted 9 July 2007 Posted 9 July 2007 1 million for hammond would be the best deal any club has ever got for there worst player i just hope no one from majorca comes on this site
The People's Hero Posted 9 July 2007 Posted 9 July 2007 it's hardly cryptic You haven't 'experienced' the natives enough yet. Trust me.
Lester LXXIV Posted 9 July 2007 Posted 9 July 2007 Fowler is definately having talks with MA in the next day or so but only to hear what we have to offer, this doesn't mean he is signing! My contact is a colleague of Lil Fucillo...
Thracian Posted 9 July 2007 Posted 9 July 2007 1 million for hammond would be the best deal any club has ever got for there worst player i just hope no one from majorca comes on this site Hammond was nowhere near our worse player. Just to jog your memory I'd mention: Maybury, McCarthy, Kenton, Low, Sylla, Horsfield, Jarrett, Fryatt and perhaps even Stearman offered less. And £5m+ for Akinbadbuy was some deal although admittedly I doubt he'd have been called the vendor's worst player.

Thracian Posted 9 July 2007 Posted 9 July 2007 No it doesn't.We paid £5million for Akinbiyi. Doesn't make him a good player. You're a complete clown if you think that transfer fee is always commensurate with ability. Let's see.... Footballing judgment? Mallorca or TPH?, Mallorca-TPH?, Mallorca-TPH?, Mallorca PS: And the £5+m he paid for Akinbiyi was pretty well commensurate with Taylor's ability! In fact the two deserved each other.
[Kaebi] Posted 9 July 2007 Posted 9 July 2007 We have heard of this Fowler in my village. Tell me' is he as good as they say and is he really coming to Leicester City Football to play with the great K'Aebi
dandannieldanok Posted 9 July 2007 Posted 9 July 2007 We have heard of this Fowler in my village. Tell me' is he as good as they say and is he really coming to Leicester City Football to play with the great K'Aebi Nah sorry to disappoint but he is past his best, he would probably excel in this division but I would hardly call him a premier league star as some people like to think.
dandannieldanok Posted 9 July 2007 Posted 9 July 2007 Leicester City and rivals Cardiff City look to be leading the competition for the signature of former Liverpool hitman Robbie Fowler. The Bluebirds are putting together a package to rival the ambitious Foxes' offer of a £22,000-a-week deal for the 32-year-old ex-England striker. And Fowler's agent George Scott has hinted that a move to South Wales could be an option which is disappointing news for Foxes supremo Milan Mandaric and boss Martin Allen who want him at the Walkers Stadium this coming season. Scott told the Western Mail: "We've got eight offers on the table and Robbie is considering the lot of them. "I can't see Rangers or Celtic being an option. They have each got too many strikers on their books and would need to off-load a couple first. From Clubcall.com
Webbo Posted 9 July 2007 Posted 9 July 2007 I've been on Mallorca's OS and on 'Marca's' website (admittedly my Spanish isn't brilliant) and there's no mention of Hammond. I think this, as we all suspected, is a load of b0ll0x.

Nick Posted 10 July 2007 Posted 10 July 2007 Thats good enough for me. Bye Elvis, hello Robbie. Here is a link from this mornings News of the World stating Ipswich and Cardiff are in for Robbie. There is also a Youtube montage on the site lasting five minutes that will make you want to 'move in' with robbie. You'll be fighting back the tears. http://notw.typepad.com/extratime/2007/07/...woops.html#more

(wages) They have now said that they have made an offer for another striker. (bbc sport) probably robbie if the above link is anything to go by.

If they can't agree personal terms with Jeffers they haven't got a hope with Robbie Fowler who would probably want triple what he asked.
Chelve84 Posted 10 July 2007 Posted 10 July 2007 get him in, look at some of the goals, he has got natural ability and will score for fun in this league. If were prepared to gamble with cort we should gamble for robbie.

STUHILL Posted 10 July 2007 Posted 10 July 2007 I think if we are to take a risk on anyone, then it should be Fowler. I think he is a nob and would have silly wages but, a player with his background and reputation would surely be a major lift to all the other players around him and show all other players and teams how ambitious we are. I know he is 32 and hasn't played a lot recently, but I would take him for a year, awesome in the air, great poacher! WOuld still like Job (if at all possible now) for cover for Cort as I think Hume, Fryatt and Fowler would always need a big target man upfront, especially in this league. As for Jeffers, well, certainly if Fowler isn't an option. Another risk on Jeffers but then I feel Martin Allen is kind of manager to get best out of players.

Apparently he got locked in the Trophy cabinet for a week whilst at Arsenal as there was a mix up after the FA Cup final.
Thracian Posted 10 July 2007 Posted 10 July 2007 If they can't agree personal terms with Jeffers they haven't got a hope with Robbie Fowler who would probably want triple what he asked. I cannot see any connection between the two. How much someone might pay to sign Jeffers bears no comparison to what they might risk on Fowler. There are loads of Jeffers but not too many Fowlers. And, like anything of any of quality that is also scarce you're likely to have to pay a premium. For more commonplace purchases you might not be willing to pay much at all.

I see your point but when Ipswich's chairman is saying Jeffers' demands would break the wage structure you have got to presume Fowler's demands would demolish it, therefore an unreasonable risk.
