Monk Posted 25 October 2007 Posted 25 October 2007 What's wrong with De Vries? It's Carl Cort who you should be worrying about! And our other million strikers who are never going to play, or score.
ithuriel Posted 25 October 2007 Posted 25 October 2007 oh god it gets worse , now we have the lump back yet again
Messi Posted 25 October 2007 Posted 25 October 2007 oh god it gets worse , now we have the lump back yet again Yeah only because he has broken his toe, so he wont be playing straight the way !!!
danny. Posted 25 October 2007 Posted 25 October 2007 Just when things where looking up, now DEEP FREEZE is back or "the sloth" as my other half calls him
davieG Posted 12 November 2007 Posted 12 November 2007 He's gone back to Leeds Link Striker Mark de Vries has returned to Leeds United on loan from Leicester City. Mark was with the club in October, but returned to Leicester on the eve of the Millwall game after suffering a foot injury. His foot injury has now cleared and he could go straight into the squad for Tuesday's JPT Area quarter-final clash with Bury. The former Hearts striker made five appearances during his first loan spell and scored the winner against Yeovil at Elland Road. Mark has returned on a loan deal until January 15 and has been given permission to play in the FA Cup. However, he will not be eligible for the replay with Hereford United - clubs can only field players who were on the books at the time of the original tie - and he would not be permitted to play against Leicester City in the competition, should that situation arise.
lcfc_jme Posted 12 November 2007 Posted 12 November 2007 Looks like we're stuck with DJ, Cort, Fryatt and John then.
davieG Posted 12 November 2007 Posted 12 November 2007 Looks like we're stuck with DJ, Cort, Fryatt and John then. Shame Elvis is injured?
lcfc_jme Posted 12 November 2007 Posted 12 November 2007 Shame Elvis is injured? Bring back Trevor Benjamin.
Thracian Posted 12 November 2007 Posted 12 November 2007 Is it?? It IS a shame Elvis is injured. Back in July I said we should keep him UNLESS we found a fast replacement. I never envisaged he would get much chance of a starting place but we haven't replaced him and I think he's been greatly missed as an option. All sorts of doubtful talents have been mentioned as potentials for our first team and NONE have made any particular impression in the reserves. Elvis only appeared for 10 minutes but scored a disallowed goal and had two or three other chances. I have no doubt had he remained on the field he'd have continued to take that team apart. The guy is strong, fast, direct and makes defenders feel uncomfortable. Unlike so many of our players he does make things happen. I thought we'd be beyond Elvis by now but we're not. We play no-one wide right and no-one will convince me Newton's brief efforts were more dangerous than Elvis would be. Nor Ashley Chambers at this stage. He too lacks the strength. What has Cort done but disappoint? DeVries was no different and now he's back at Leeds. John may well be going to Bolton so who are we left with? Fryatt (so slow), Hume (okay) and Campbell (inconsistent, nothing like as strong as Elvis and no use at all in the air). We'll always have people who hate Hammond for some reason. I just wish there was a few who appreciated him and were prepared to give him some encouragement.
Vardinhio Posted 12 November 2007 Posted 12 November 2007 Hammonds abysmal, anyone who says other is deluded. Look at his record..it stinks.

I have no doubt had he remained on the field he'd have continued to take that team apart. Yes it was disallowed, because he was miles offside you moron. You know, staying onside is actually a crucial part of the game! If Elvis had half a brain he'd realise that.
Thracian Posted 12 November 2007 Posted 12 November 2007 Hammonds abysmal, anyone who says other is deluded.Look at his record..it stinks. Then I must be deluded. What record? In football terms, for one reason or another, he remains a novice.
Joe. Posted 12 November 2007 Posted 12 November 2007 Hammond's definitely not the greatest player but there's no way he's as bad as most make out on here. Last season he did actually weigh in with a few goals that were key to some results we had. I'm not staking a claim for an appearance in the first team for him but I don't always like the constant stick he gets.
Jay Posted 12 November 2007 Posted 12 November 2007 DJ Campbell is Hammond in disguise. what's the disguise that little 1980's Eddie Murphy beverly hills cop style tache he seems to be sporting these days
maddog Posted 12 November 2007 Posted 12 November 2007 why why why. De Vries was great at the start of this season and we now know he is way better than Cort let we have let him go back to Leeds again when we need him. Another awful decision by Burrows who has to go now.
Staf Posted 12 November 2007 Posted 12 November 2007 I dont understand why we have got rid of him hes not brilliant but he is better than Cort why cant Cort go out on loan

Fair enough if you think we need his work ethic (cause he did work, whenever I saw him. He was dire but at least he tried) and his pace but don't say he is what he isn't.

ASH17LCFC Posted 12 November 2007 Posted 12 November 2007 Elvis has pace, thats it. Unlike other strikers who are fast as fook. They can play football aswell and that makes them great players ... Henry, Eto, Torres, ... Elvis would do o-kish in league 1 or 2 because of his pace but in the championship and the Premiership you actually need abit of class.

ASH17LCFC Posted 12 November 2007 Posted 12 November 2007 Kishishev isn't Irish. His name has abit of a welsh feel to it though.
MC Prussian Posted 12 November 2007 Posted 12 November 2007 Bottom line is, DeVries is gone until January. And I wouldn't even mind him staying there longer than that, possibly even end his career at a lower-league club. That's the way it goes in Leicester. Acquiring him was the first step in the wrong direction, anyway. Our scouting system abroad is laughable.
