Matt Posted 24 October 2007 Posted 24 October 2007 Out of the choice Audi A3 or VW Golf. I currently have a Golf 1.6 FSi (2004) had it about 2 and a half months, love it. My first car was a Vauxhall Corsa, Nice little car, Good little run about, had that for a year and half but got bored of it, Then I went for the big jump from a Vauxhall Corsa to a VW Polo, That finacially was a big jump but paid it off easily. Then about a year after having my Polo was abit bored of that, then went for my dream car (Dream Car within reason) my VW Golf I've never been one to have a car and be happy with it, My Corsa and Polo were just the ladder to my Golf, now i've got my Golf I can see me settling with this one for a while, but my next car would probably be an Audi A3, Civic (Type R), e.t.c. I wanted a Golf R32 for ages but had a look at one the other day and for the price, There not worth it, just get a standard Golf and modify it. I've got some pictures on my Camera, but there not on the laptop at the moment, I'll post some pictures later. Infact here's the website with pictures of it. It had wheel trims so bought some 19" A8 Alloys In the pictures on the website of my car, It really doesn't look anything that special but the alloys have really set it off now! And really all in all, the Golf was a bargain I've only paid £3,000, Which for a 2004 Golf is pretty damn good, It was up for £8,000, but I bought my Polo for £6,000 (I think - can't quite remember) and in a year I lost £1,000, So they knocked £5,000 as a trade in and i've had to pay £3,000. I've never really done any modification's on my other cars because I always knew I wouldn't keep them that long but now i've got my Golf, I've had my Alloys fitted, Considering lowering it, and perhaps having an Induction Kit fitted, and maybe and exhaust. I my Golf
Charnwood Norris Posted 25 October 2007 Posted 25 October 2007 Your under 25 and you have 9 grand to play with? Where do you live buster?

Have you got it saved, so you have quick access to post it or do you have to re-type it each time? In all seriousness, your Golf sounds good.
Fez of Mahrez Posted 25 October 2007 Posted 25 October 2007 None of you are as cool as me and Kokopops.
Bellend Sebastian Posted 25 October 2007 Posted 25 October 2007 I think you should get a W reg Astra. I know of a beauty
The People's Hero Posted 25 October 2007 Posted 25 October 2007 Despite having no money, I'm considering selling (one) kidney and (one) lung to finance the purchase of an Audi RS4. Golf was something a few years ago - now all the pikeys have latched on to it. Fast becoming what was the Nova and then the Corsa and then even the pikeys got fed up of corsas and (previously) readily available finance led to the explosion of the pikey with the golf with a big exhaust glued on. All the best with it though.
The People's Hero Posted 25 October 2007 Posted 25 October 2007 Also, although it now appears that I'm just having a dig, Matt. Why the boll ocks did you buy that one? It's the polo-ised version of the golf! It's nasty and it's too high. It just doesn't look right. Don't waste your money getting it lowered or putting a cheap, tacky fan (errr... induction kit) to add 4 bhp but invalidate your insurance. Just buy something that looks better. Same advice to you as to Tom. Seat Ibiza/Leon looks alright. And is based on the VW engine/transmission, so you can still satiate your irrational love for VW (I bet you drink Stella Artois too right - reassuringly expensive but in reality now sold out to match the mediocrity of the rest of the market). Actually, I can't be arsed. Stick with your golf - the looks have gone massively downhill over the years though.
Guest Posted 25 October 2007 Posted 25 October 2007 I loved my Ibiza. It was Leicester City Blue as well......

Matt Posted 25 October 2007 Posted 25 October 2007 You're modifying a 2004 golf rather than just buying something racier? Is it looks you're after or performance? Don't get an R32. Both but mainly looks. As I said the picture's i've put a link to doesn't do it justice, I mean i've only put the 19" wheels on but it really does make look much better than in those pictures. I remember the weekend i'd bought it, I came home looked at those pictures and thinking "Oh dear have I done the right thing, doesn't really look that good in those pictures" but in reality does look nice.  How did I know you'd have a lengthy story or two to tell in this thread. No, I just love talking about my cars, and although it wasn't started out to be an essay it turned out that way, I just carried on going But out of the choices, and if you can find a decent one in your budget (I've seen them about for your budget) i'd got for the A3, As I said think i'll be keeping my Golf for a few years now, but early plans are a A3 next for me I think. My boss has just got a new A4, and he said no-one was allowed to drive it when he first got it, but I was the first person let to drive it last week I had to go to Luton Airport, It's fuking awesome! Not that fast, but a beautiful car!
Alexikokopops Posted 25 October 2007 Posted 25 October 2007 None of you are as cool as me and Kokopops. YARII, HOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO. Actually, I went to get my car from Cannon Park in Coventry and my front numberplate was missing. Some **** actually ripped it off/stole it/did something with it, so now I have no front number plate. Went for a drive without one, felt a bit naughty. I should probably sort it out.'****!
Bryn Posted 25 October 2007 Posted 25 October 2007 Just bought myself a little Fiesta today. 1995, one lady owner, 43k miles on the clock. CD player, power steering, electric windows, full MOT, just had some maintenance work done. Pretty roomy, a very smooth ride especially for it's age. Was a top of the range Fiesta in it's day, I got it for £575 but I reckon it was worth more like £800. Will only have it for a year but intend to make a profit at the end of the year
