RowlattsFox Posted 13 December 2007 Posted 13 December 2007 Skysports.com understands Leicester are lining up a move for Preston forward Patrick Agyemang. Foxes boss Ian Holloway is scouring the transfer market for reinforcements as he looks to guide his side away from trouble at the wrong end of the table. Holloway has made a new striker one of his priorities and he has been alerted to Agyemang's possible availability. The 27-year-old has been one of Preston's best performers this season in a disappointing campaign which sees them rooted to the bottom of the Championship table. Agyemang's current contract at Deepdale expires at the end of the season and Preston could decide to cash-in on him in January rather than risk losing him for nothing next summer. A number of other Championship sides are believed to be monitoring Agyemang's situation at Preston and Holloway could face a fight for his signature next month.
Fez of Mahrez Posted 13 December 2007 Posted 13 December 2007 Got a spare fringe Ghanaian striker with a poor scoring record lying about? We'll take 'em off your hands!
davieG Posted 13 December 2007 Posted 13 December 2007 Got a spare fringe Ghanaian striker with a poor scoring record lying about? We'll take 'em off your hands! We're building for the future In Division One!!!!
dandannieldanok Posted 13 December 2007 Posted 13 December 2007 Another Mediocre/Poor striker.................. .................Great!!!!!
Koke Posted 13 December 2007 Posted 13 December 2007 Patrick Agyemang? Oh dear. But I would take him purely for that spectacular over-head kick he scored again West Brom last season. That on its own is worth his transfer fee.
Bryn Posted 13 December 2007 Posted 13 December 2007 Looks like he's after a big man up front, bye bye Carl Cort.
SamL Posted 13 December 2007 Posted 13 December 2007 Oh dear. Could be better, could be worse. Still think we need a prolific striker which the 2 we've been linked with certainly aren't.
lee7 Posted 13 December 2007 Posted 13 December 2007 It's all a little underwhelming isn't it. i'd rather ollie went for a better striker.
Koke Posted 13 December 2007 Posted 13 December 2007 How much are we looking at? 100 grand plus Elvis swap deal? Or are saving Elvis for a swap deal to get the Plymouth lads here!!!
Lineker's Left Foot Posted 13 December 2007 Posted 13 December 2007 Agyemang... he's rubbish.. oh dear . BUT after being linked with much better players, we're likely to sign him though I guess
MPH Posted 13 December 2007 Posted 13 December 2007 i'm all for a big lump upfront. One who isnt injury prone would be better too!
Father Ted Posted 13 December 2007 Posted 13 December 2007 Oh pi*s off Holloway! A bet it's just some more verbal diarrhoea to get his name in the papers again
Staf Posted 13 December 2007 Posted 13 December 2007 As if Barry Hayles wasnt bad enough we now get linked with Agyemang
WetFlannel Posted 13 December 2007 Posted 13 December 2007 ANOTHER fooking STRIKER... WHY!!!! we have no midfielders and were trying to buy a 6th striker (discounting the youth products), i give up...
MPH Posted 14 December 2007 Posted 14 December 2007 ANOTHER fooking STRIKER... WHY!!!! we have no midfielders and were trying to buy a 6th striker (discounting the youth products), i give up... its pretty simple, really..... Holloway is a 4-4-2 man. He likes to play with a target man. Would you prefer he just uses Carl Cort?
Fat Ron Posted 14 December 2007 Posted 14 December 2007 Not overly impressed with the link but..... I wasnt overly impressed when Martin O'Neill went in for Neil Lennon, Robbie Savage, Muzzy Izzet or Matt Elliott and look what happened with them. All inexperianced players at the level we were but all settled in rather well. Players work differently under different managers, he might prove to be a decent signing if it happens.... Its interesting to see a few links for players although the club (nor Ollie, considering he is supposed to want to build his image through the media ) have come out and openly expressed an interest in any of them.
The People's Hero Posted 14 December 2007 Posted 14 December 2007 Got a spare fringe Ghanaian striker with a poor scoring record lying about? We'll take 'em off your hands! Exactly my thoughts. How many more are there though? Concerning. Milan has money Ian, even you fu cking said so, he's backing you. Go SPEND!
Flexx Posted 14 December 2007 Posted 14 December 2007 This guy is a ledge. I would take him anyday, big powerful and has an eye for goal. He always seems to play well at the Walkers aswell. Wouldn't pay over 500K though. Him and Sappleton up front would be a dream partnership.

Joe. Posted 14 December 2007 Posted 14 December 2007 Wouldn't surprise me to see him here if I'm honest. Nice to hear he's been one of their best performers this season but let's face it... it's Patrick Agyemang.
Dames Posted 14 December 2007 Posted 14 December 2007 Quality? Yeah right. We've got 2 supposed lumps up front (Cort and De Vries) we don't need another.
STUHILL Posted 14 December 2007 Posted 14 December 2007 Dear God, really thought all this talk of building a quality side and having MM's money to spend in January, would actually mean good quality players for once. WHy does everyone bang on about Milan and his dosh, if we never actually get to spend it! I mean why aren't we signing players like Wolves or WBA would sign. I'm really starting to worry that all this talk of MM and his millions taken Leicester back to the Prem is actually a myth! If Jan passes by and we make signings like Barry Hayles and Agyemang, I will begin losing faith in even a 3 year plan! Where's the cash Milan and where is the quality Ollie?????
The Reverend Posted 14 December 2007 Posted 14 December 2007 Well i was going to defend Agyemang, but looking at his scoring record, it is appalling. Average is about 6 or 7 goals a season playing most games. That is about as bad as Elvis' record. Saying that though, lets not forget he has been a fulcrum of a side that has got into the play-offs 2 seasons running, he clearly has other qualities rather than just scoring goals.
