Holloway Slams Greedy Keane

Leicester boss Ian Holloway has slammed Sunderland manager Roy Keane for trying to get more money out of the club in his bid to sign on-loan keeper Marton Fulop.

Holloway, whose initial bid of £1million was turned down by Keane, has deemed the Black Cats boss greedy after he upped the asking price for Fulop to £3million.

Already on-loan at the Walkers Stadium, Fulop has stressed his desire to stay with the Foxes, but Holloway feels the current price tag is making it impossible to strike a deal.

Speaking to The Daily Star, Holloway said: "Maybe Roy thinks he's worth £3million because he's paid £9million for another goalkeeper (Craig Gordon).

"Come on, Marton's not worth that! The boy is upset but the deal is looking dead in the water."

Holloway can slam Keane all he likes but it won't make any difference. Keane has a quality item for sale and I imagine there'll be competition for Fulop's signature. Quality costs money and what Leicester have to decide is whether they have the ambition to buy him. I don't see that having a go at Keane will help.

If the deal wasn't dead in the water before it surely is now after that comment. Holloway needs to learn to keep things like that to himself because it's not going to make Keane particularly accomodating towards us!

Holloways doing himself no favours, if you want quality, it costs, unless of course you find a diamond in the rough. Keane must be grinning to himself grinch-style and flicking through a bundle of £50 notes as we speak, hes holding all the ace's and unless Holloway wants to stump up the cash I can't see us getting either Kavanagh or Fulop.

i think 3 million is taking the piss.

fulop is top quality. id go as far as 2 million and use a million to buy a new centre half. we need more steel in front of our keeper

to make it easier for him first and foremost

FFS we need midfielders not defenders.

He's right but at least wait until the Kavagher deal was done, that's probably dead now. At least we've enough right backs to take on the role.

agreed we need a midfielder desperately but also need a centre half. we are too slow and mcauley is the weakest link.

megson sorted out our defence which is why we were stronger. 4-4-2 with this group of players = no good

We have one of the best defences in the division! Mcauley, Kisnorbo and N'Gotty are more than good enough. The only weak link in our defense is LB and has been for several seasons.

We are Leicester city we do not pay for quality instead we pay over the odds for quantity or just shit.

One of the reasons we had a really good defence is because we had a good goalkeeper behind them that inspired confidence.

Henderson unfortunantly does not. He also does not command his box or his defence like Fulop did.

The centre-backs are only good enough with defensive reinforcement in the shape of an extra centre-back or defensive midfielders - at least that's why I presume we're always so defensively overloaded.

Unfortunately we cannot continue to reduce our attacking force by using so many defensive players because, as is clearly demonstrated by the results, we don't score enough.

Couldnt signing Fulop help both of those things?

It's hardly massively confrontational, is it? I'm sure Roy Keane will cope, unless he's a lot more sensitive than I had him down as being.

Impressed though I was with Fulop, £3 million is a hell of a lot for Sunderland's third choice keeper, isn't it?

strongly disagree

our defence was assured at 5-3-2

mcauley is too slow for 4-4-2

mneed a pacier centre half

Maybe it already has been done :dunno:

Either way you cant blame Keane for trying to get as much as possible. Think we can all agree that Fulop is worth more than a million. However, apart from QPR no club in the championship will/would pay £3 million for him and I dont believe any Prem club will either so Keano has shot himself in the foot and poor old Fulop will be left to rot in the ressies....

We could well have the same effect if we had a midfield reinforced by errr mid-fielders who can control, hold and pass the ball. In fact the defence could even look better with this as they would have someone to pass the ball to.

Why does Holloway get him self in embaressing situations by slating one of the best players ever to grace the premiership? we cant get Marton for less than 3 mill, fact, but no need to shout about it is there?

Will he ever learn

I disagree, fair play to Ollie for voicing his opinions..why shouldnt he!!

If you were unsatisfied with things in your job or the way the people above you ran things you would say something as well. Id rather have a manager that speaks his mind that one that doesnt anyday!

Also, 3 million for Fulop is alot of money and tbh i dont think he's worth that....i love Fulop and think it would be great to see him here, but that is just silly money to pay for him. Also agree on the transfer window being a stupid thing....get things back to how they were before!!!
