davieG Posted 15 April 2008 Author Posted 15 April 2008 Do we want Barnsley to beat Hull tonight so that they are safe by the time they play us?Or do we want Barnsley to lose so they will be a bit more nervous by the time they play us? Que sera sera!
Darkzzz_ Posted 15 April 2008 Posted 15 April 2008 I am bricking it!! Trembling with fear!!! It's Tuesday for god's sake, look what this club his reduced me to!!! I might go and get frozen for 100 years and when i wake up maybe we will be playing in the European Super League with Robots in our team!!
davieG Posted 15 April 2008 Author Posted 15 April 2008 If Wolves can beat WBA at home then Hull can go top if they beat Barnsley. The IF we be beat Barnsley they'd be back in the melting pot. Either way I think Stoke will still be in the position of needing a result on the last day in order to guarantee auto promotion.
teblin Posted 15 April 2008 Posted 15 April 2008 Was just thinking about the barnsley game tonight, would a win for them be benefitial too us? This would leave them with nothing to play for on saturday as they would be safe? though i guess it didn't work that way on saturday, but that was down too us not colchester.

I thought tha. If they win tonight they might think that they are safe and take their foot off the gas a little, hopefully anyway.

Counter productive as it leads us to take our foot off the gas thinking they'll be there for the taking. Besides if they lose tonight and we beat them on Saturday we'll only be 1 point behind them and their confidence would be shattered somewhat. So a win for Hull

Also will be nice for them to lose at Oakwell ahead of Saturday.
Phlashman Posted 15 April 2008 Posted 15 April 2008 I think we want a Hull win, the more teams with us treading shit the less chance of us taking the plunge.
Mark Posted 15 April 2008 Posted 15 April 2008 That's what I thought initially but then I thought, if Barnsley and Sheffield Wednesday see their matches as a MUST win against us, have we got the fight to match them, I don't think so.

I think we'll have a better chance of scoring a goal against team that needs to win.
Staf Posted 15 April 2008 Posted 15 April 2008 I really think it is out of us and covscum who goes down and i think it will be us
Rodders Posted 15 April 2008 Posted 15 April 2008 If we can manage a win on Saturday, and Blackpool don't beat Wednesday at Bloomfield Rd, I reckon we'll stay up. If they draw it'd put us above Blackpool on goal difference, and they still have to play Plymouth (a) and Watford (h). Can't see them getting anything out of those. So even if we lost to Wednesday and Stoke we should still stay up on goal difference. Don't know why I'm feeling so optimistic, but there you go. Come on City!
Geo V Posted 15 April 2008 Posted 15 April 2008 The other week I thought we were fooked but Sheff Weds cant win these days and Coventry are in shite just like us so its all still to play for and importantly, our destiny is in our own hands. I musty admit I nearly had a heart attack when Sheff Weds equalized against Plymouth as they looked like they had the momentum to win.
Sods Posted 15 April 2008 Posted 15 April 2008 Up the Hull i say. More teams in the frame the better for me.

I see what you mean but at the same time it isn't in our own hands really. IF we won all our remaining games likelyhood is we'd be safe, but we'd still need someone to lose/drop points which is also highly likely. Basically we need to get points from somewhere and clubs to drop points.
MC Prussian Posted 15 April 2008 Posted 15 April 2008 It's a really sad case when you have to rely upon the aid of other football teams' results in a relegation battle. Meh.

Koke Posted 15 April 2008 Posted 15 April 2008 It's a really sad case when you have to rely upon the aid of other football teams' results in a relegation battle.Meh. Not really - If we win our remaining games, we'll stay up. So, we not really relying on anybody to do anything for us.
Matt Posted 15 April 2008 Posted 15 April 2008 No because if we won all our remaining games we'd have beaten Wednesday so we'd finish above them. Good point
Jonezy Posted 15 April 2008 Posted 15 April 2008 I don't like this.. I have hope again... I hate hoping with this club.... Please let this be the right time to hope... Well, its in our own hands again at least, but do we have the team to take advantage of this?
Joe. Posted 15 April 2008 Posted 15 April 2008 I don't know whether this is actully good or not that Barnsley are losing. They're pretty much already out of this relegation battle so I'd much prefer it if they won tonight so they're not under so much pressure against us on Saturday. It'd be more beneficial to us if they won I think.
