Oldham Reserves

Oldham > Shrewsbury.

A very, very strong reserve side toiled against weaker opposition, whereas our kids just dismantled an arguably better side hours later.

Did Oldham Reserves play in the last 48 hours as well though? Same side? Tired

Thats his stage name.

His real name is Francis Winklebottom.

...and that's the worst sentence you've ever written!

A point well made.

I'd have to read up to find out if that's the case and I really cba. It's a good result in any case, at least we they know where the net is. I really think Sappleton could turn out to be an absolute gem of a buy, he's scoring for fun at the moment. If we beat Wednesday, start him against Stoke.

Don't bother I was just being objective

When I have seen Sappleton I have been impressed with his size, but his mobility is questionable. If he can remain a problem for defences physically he could be a useful player.

Wright, Odhiambo, Chambers and McKay have all been scoring for fun during their time in the academy. None of them have made a mark in the first team so far. I'm hoping at least one of those (bar Wright  ) makes it here. The potential is there, no... ?

I've had doubts about him but he was very good tonight good control, good use of the ball, used his strength to his advantage and good in the air and breath taking power shots. Excellent all round performance by him and it also looks like Chambers has got his pace back.

In all seriousness he runs like he has been fooked up the arse by a donkey. I hope the guy does well, and proves to be an asset in future seasons  Lets give him a chance before we build him up to the position of Barry Hayles :P

He was here long before Big Barry.

Leicester City Res 8-1 Oldham Athletic Res
Posted on: Wed 23 Apr 2008Hat-tricks from Ashley Chambers and Ricky Sappleton helped guide Leicester City's reserve team to an 8-1 victory against Oldham Athletic in the Pontin's Central League on Wednesday evening.

Billy McKay and Ryan Beswick also found the net as City's young side ran riot at the Marston's Stadium.

The Foxes could have been ahead inside the first minute but Radostin Kishishev could not direct his header on target after connecting with Joe Magunda's long throw.

Kishishev turned provider five minutes later as his long ball found McKay at the far post who could only drag his shot across the face of goal.

But City didn't have to wait long and went ahead in the 10th minute - Chambers finishing from close range after a neat move between McKay and Sappleton.

Chambers doubled his tally in the 21st minute when the visitors failed to clear a Beswick cross leaving the striker with time to find the top corner of the net.

Sappleton found space on the edge of the box in the 36th minute to fire a daisy-cutter past goalkeeper Josh Bell and give the Foxes a three-goal advantage at the break.

But it was Oldham who struck next as Ross Thaker netted from the penalty spot after Lathanial Rowe-Turner was adjudged to have handled inside the area.

McKay should have restored City's three-goal advantage in the 52nd minute but his close-range volley flew over the bar before Sappleton grabbed his second with an unstoppable drive from twenty yards.

Robbie Burns' perfectly weighted pass in the 76th minute found Chambers who was able to escape Oldham's offside trap and complete his hat-trick.

McKay grabbed his second assist of the game three minutes later setting up Beswick before the striker latched on to a Chambers cross to include his name on the scoresheet.

Sappleton added to the visitor's misery and completed his hat-trick in the 85th minute to round off a convincing victory.

Leicester City's reserve team return to action on Monday when they travel to Huddersfield Town.

City: Carl Pentney, Joe Magunda, Joe Cobb, Lee Cox (61 Luke O'Neill), Scott Garner, Lathanial Rowe-Turner (73 Robbie Burns), Ashley Chambers (82 Jorrin John), Radostin Kishishev, Ricky Sappleton, Billy McKay, Ryan Beswick

Subs Not Used: Steven Howard, Fraser Tuttle

Manwells bookies is now open

Todays special Leicester to win 3-1, Chambers to score first, Thracians gloating match report explaining how the "experinced" line up of Monday night is totally inferior to tonights line up, to be 9 Paragraphs long. 250/1

I don't think so. Thracian spent the day in Manchester but judging by the result you're about right, apart from underestimating the score of course.

I think Sappleton could build peace and love around the world.

He could end world poverty.

With his meat. You forgot to say with his meat.

Ricky Sappleton

Sounds like a crackin' game, I'll have to try and get down one week.

Get yourself a copy of this and you can get down every week.

Sappleton should bang the drum for us in L1 on Saturday if Ollie hasn't earmarked him for a place in the 16.

With his meat?
