OriginalRobboFOX Posted 7 May 2008 Posted 7 May 2008 http://www.thisisleicestershire.co.uk/disp...;pNodeId=132401 Chief executive Paul Aldridge has admitted relegation to League One is a "big financial blow" to Leicester City. But he insisted the drop was not as "catastrophic" as the loss of income caused by relegation from the Premier League. Aldridge said City's fall into League One would be cushioned by the fact the majority of the club's players will see their wages reduced. And he said there would be a review of the club's non-playing side, as City begin to come to terms with losing their Championship status. Aldridge said: "We are a football club and we have never been in this division. That's the biggest blow and throwing a cheque at that won't make it go away. "It's a financial blow, no doubt about it, but it's not the catastrophic one of falling out of the Premier League. "It's a big blow but we do have incomes and we do have a reduction in our costs. "From a sporting perspective, for our dream and goal to get back into the Premier League, it's a big dent in it. It's more of a sporting blow than a financial one. "The majority of players have got a contract where all basics and bonuses are reduced in the lower division. "The overall amount for the same number of players will be less in this division than the Championship." He added: "The rest of the club is something we have to look at. We would have looked at it anyway, as any business would. Clearly we have to look at it from a slightly different perspective." City's relegation is likely to see players attracting attention from other clubs. Richard Stearman and Joe Mattock have both been linked with Premier League moves in the past. But Aldridge said it was too early to talk about players' futures. He said: "It will be a process over the summer because the players have contracts. What the club might like to do is not always what happens. "Clearly we have good players who are desirable. Until we sit and talk to the players and their agents, I don't know what their desire is. If a player really has his heart set on going then it's difficult, but that's not to say we have had that." Aldridge said that City's relegation would not see the freeze on season-ticket prices extended beyond May 31. Supporters can buy season tickets at last year's price until the end of the month. Aldridge said: "I put forward I would like to see an increase because I believe the prices have stayed relatively low over the last four or five years. In fairness the chairman (Milan Mandaric) decided to over-rule that and keep the same as this year. "There may be some tinkering with certain seats but no structure change to the prices." Aldridge added that City have spoken to other clubs, including Nottingham Forest, about adapting to life in League One. Aldridge said: "Season-ticket renewals and the early-bird period finishes at the end of this month. That will give us the first indication of supporter retention." Aldridge said any decision on manager Ian Holloway's future would wait until Mandaric returns to the country. Aldridge said: "You don't make quick decisions after something like this. We need to reflect, calm down and when we come back make good decisions. "(Holloway) is bitterly disappointed. He is slightly more upbeat but he is still very disappointed."
thecannon Posted 7 May 2008 Posted 7 May 2008 Atleast now the players will actually earn their money!
Phlashman Posted 7 May 2008 Posted 7 May 2008 I'd imagine for the players we want to keep there would be huge bonuses for promotion next year.
SOCCERROO FOX Posted 7 May 2008 Posted 7 May 2008 Atleast now the players will actually earn their money! Dont be so sure
BigGibbo Posted 7 May 2008 Posted 7 May 2008 Serves the ****ers right! Really? I think to serve them right would be to send them to guantanamo bay for a couple o' years!

ROB-THE-BLUE Posted 7 May 2008 Posted 7 May 2008 Atleast now the players will actually earn their money! ........or they'll leave and carry on stealing CCC wages and if thats what they want to do then good riddance. We need players that are totally committed to the club and getting us back up to the Championship as soon as possible
Dom_Harborough Fox Posted 7 May 2008 Posted 7 May 2008 I'm glad their wages are being reduced. It's what they deserve having failed to do the job they were bought to do. Hopefully that will help sort those who want to play for the club from those who are after the money. After summer I hope we are left with a squad committed to playing for Leicester City again

After summer I hope we are left with a squad committed to playing for Leicester City again How will we ever have that while the club constantly prefers loanees to contracted permanent players: Newton/Bori/Etuhu etc preferred to Gradel. Clapham preferred to Sheehan. Oakley preferred to King/Wesolowski. Laczko/Hendrie preferred to Beswick. We've had one worthwhile loanee this season: Fulop. I might have said the same about Hendrie but he's spent much of his time injured which has not been much use to us. It was just the same last season. Which loanees were ever any good?

Hopefully, we will have no choice but to play the younger players next year. We won't be able to get any loanees from the Premiership bar the odd youngster & i don't think championship loanees will be any better than what we have already so we may as well stick with those young players we have at the club already, who are undoubtedly talented. The problems is, will the management agree? Judging by past evidence we may well end up with yet another load of has-beens Either way I agree that having so many loanees has helped create this situation in the first place. There has been no stability over the last few years, with our managers prefering to try the quick-fix option of loanees who have invariably been crap. If we can just build on what we have we would be much better off I feel.
renards Posted 7 May 2008 Posted 7 May 2008 Posted before.. Kish was having a moan it was 25%, not sure that's across the board. (The wages may even go up, not paid out many win bonuses or scoring bonuses this season...assuming we will score and win?!)
Daggers Posted 7 May 2008 Posted 7 May 2008 But you do when it comes to ST prices And I'll bet you the percentage rise in prices has already been set for next season with one of two reasons already mapped out: Either a)we need the extra revenue to really compete in the Championship again or b)we need the extra revenue to get into the Championship
Cheese Me Posted 7 May 2008 Posted 7 May 2008 It's right that the majority of players who have contributed to our downfall should share the pain - it makes them more accountable for their performances for one. What I hope is that players like Weso, King, Ashley Chambers, Gradel who haven't really featured too much this season but will hopefully go on to become key players for us next year aren't punished for the failings of the 'senior' players. I would also hope that Hume, Stearman and Mattock aren't unduly punished by this. Players who haven't been up to scratch and have got us relegated should get lower wages, those that have contributed or have been let down by others shouldn't be given another incentive to leave us. Ideally each would be looked at on a case by case basis and dealt with accordingly - I hope the contracts and the clubs management allow for this to happen.
Daggers Posted 7 May 2008 Posted 7 May 2008 It's right that the majority of players who have contributed to our downfall should share the pain - it makes them more accountable for their performances for one. What would make it even better is if they were to be made to break the news to those non-playing staff that are now losing their jobs because of their incompetence during the season, for them to see first hand the full repercussions of their lack of effort. Cnuts.

Thats the side of relegation the players aint gonna see. The non playing staff who are already under pressure with their jobs just cos these so called football professionals fcuked up. This is the bit that hurts me so much, seeing people i know very well in a situation beyond their control thanks to the failures of the playing staff.
Scow Posted 7 May 2008 Posted 7 May 2008 They're all part of the problem. If they're not happy then fu ck off you mercenary cu nts.
AmericanScott Posted 7 May 2008 Posted 7 May 2008 I saw Mattock in the Shires today. Spending his wages on tons of new clothes to suit the away days in League 1 i presume. Or possibly a Premier League club
Bryn Posted 7 May 2008 Posted 7 May 2008 Wage reduction clauses after relegation are generally quite substantial, around 25% I think.
Fox in a Box Posted 9 May 2008 Posted 9 May 2008 Paul Aldridge should also have his wage reduced inline with what division we are in... I certainly wont be happy to line the fat twats pockets.... ST holders are the KEY holders in any football club no fans = no club.... ALDRIDGE you taking a PAY CUT THEN?

It's still way too expensive. At least they could do the fans a favour and make amends by lowering the prices.
Corky Posted 9 May 2008 Posted 9 May 2008 It's still way too expensive. At least they could do the fans a favour and make amends by lowering the prices. That's far too much to ask. We are constantly told our support is vital, they need us more than ever now, but hey, still pay the same prices. Some loyalty.

I don't recall either being on the pitch and losing to Wednesday.
