Raj Posted 9 May 2008 Posted 9 May 2008 Exactly. I think the last few away games of big crowds and good atmospheres have gone to peoples' heads. I came away from a lot of games this season thinking what the fook had happpend to our away support. I wonder if half the people on here giving rousing rants about our magnificent fans and once a fox, always a fox will actually be at Tranmere in the freezing cold in the middle of January. NOPE!
BigGibbo Posted 9 May 2008 Posted 9 May 2008 The prices need to be reduced really! 20% less than this season would be fair as they were reasonably priced.
Fez of Mahrez Posted 9 May 2008 Posted 9 May 2008 Exactly. I think the last few away games of big crowds and good atmospheres have gone to peoples' heads. I wonder if half the people on here giving rousing rants about our magnificent fans and once a fox, always a fox will actually be at Tranmere in the freezing cold in the middle of January. No, they probably won't. But as numerous posts on this board reflect, there were a lot of people who started going to the late aways (Sheff Utd, Barnsley and Stoke primarily) who had a bloody good time and are looking forward to going more in future. I don't think the club really care how many fans we take away, relatively speaking. They will just be trying to get as many into the Walkers as possible by whatever means necessary. A lot of us have said for a long time now we'd like to see more of an incentive or reward for those who travel away regularly but I don't think they're arsed at all.
Trav Le Bleu Posted 9 May 2008 Posted 9 May 2008 I know a few regular season tickets holders who are not renewing unless prices dropAs for those that go to odd game, paying over £20 a ticket like in the past, dont make me laugh. Prices should be brought in line with the average taken from all other clubs in the league, must be honest there,i dont know how much that would equate to? lower prices = bigger gates in my eyes (as long as we are winning) away support will never be in question And bigger gates equals bigger revenue. Better to have 30,000 people paying an average of £15 (£450,000) a head (plus food and drink, don't forget!) than 15,000 paying £20 (£300,000) a head. Plus the place is packed and the team have a 12th man, as City are so fond of referring to us Far as I see it, it's a no-brainer*. *I have been accused of coming up with no-brain ideas on many occasions

More like 22'000 @ £15 quid (£330'000) or 16'000 at £22 (£352'000). Plus you've got about 8000 ST to think about, and the fact that the club don't get money from food and drink, just merchandise...

Metartarsal Posted 9 May 2008 Posted 9 May 2008 Well done the Trust. Someone needed to say something. Even suggesting a price increase shows out of touch Aldridge (an man heavily involved in the Tevez saga when at West Ham) and by implication, Mandaric is. There is no way the fans should be paying for relegation.

I was using easy rounded out figures to make a point And yes I realise about ST holders and I was factoring in their average cost per game. Wasn't saying everyone should pay £15 a ticket.
iancognito Posted 9 May 2008 Posted 9 May 2008 The very reason Aldridge wanted to raise the prices was because he spotted that the worse we got last year, the bigger the crowds seemed to be. He can see 30,000 mugs walking through the door every other week and wants to capitalise on it. The Trust's stand has come too late. Guys like Aldridge and Milan will have been working out relegation budgets weeks ago and will have decided on how much they can (un)reasonably milk out of us. If they take a quid off the match prices, they'll stick a quid on shirts & 50p on the programme etc etc. There's not one of them would consider losing money to help out the poor bastards who fork out hundreds of pounds a year watching City.
l444ry Posted 9 May 2008 Posted 9 May 2008 Oh really? How come we only took around 300 to Hull this season then? And that was for a Saturday game.. By the way, visiting attendance at our ground this season averaged around 1700. We won't get anything like that in League 1. Don't forget that Hull was sandwiched between Ipswich and Wolves, part of a run of three successive away matches just before Christmas. Presumably many sacrificed the Hull game on the grounds of cost.
davieG Posted 9 May 2008 Posted 9 May 2008 If they don't reduce the price then as I've already suggested they should give very serious consideration to including the 1st & 2nd Round FA Cups and some of the Paint Trophy rounds. It wouldn't cost them too much because many wouldn't go anyway and they will probably reduce the prices for these games when they turn up. It would be a welcomed jesture with little cost attached.
mickydeeeuk Posted 9 May 2008 Posted 9 May 2008 just my opinion, but..... is it really that expensive??? i think its quite good value for a ST !! ... yeah we got relegated but touch wood we might actually see the boys win this season! then we can take that momentum and winning mentality back to the championship next year! FYI i go to quite a few kettering games (when leicester are away) and thats £12 to stand up and even more to sit in the stand! that was for blue square north!!!!! ... mind you they got promoted this season and someone pointed out to me they are only 2 divisions behind us now!! anyway i know a lot of people make sacrifices to watch leicester, but we do it cuz we love it, and personally i go to watch leicester, not the opposition!! dont get me wrong i prefer to watch us in the prem. but im trying to be positive & for me £3-£400 quid for a season aint too bad!! (sorry to waffle on!! ) .....yeah, they could chuck in a few paint trophy/FA cup games to ease the pain!
Number 6 Posted 9 May 2008 Posted 9 May 2008 No, they probably won't. Am I right in saying Norwich do an away season ticket? Great idea imo.
Guest Posted 9 May 2008 Posted 9 May 2008 What a load of rubbish. The Trust has a rep on the FCC, and would have had a rep on the sub-committee that discussed ST prices. Why wait until now to make this kind of statement? Should this not have been addressed sooner, or does this not illustrate the lack of influence the Trust has? Is this not just some kind of reaction to promote a favourable response in light of the club's sorry demise, and ever decreasing popularity (judging by the forii) of the Trust itself.
Daggers Posted 9 May 2008 Posted 9 May 2008 Well done the Trust. Someone needed to say something. Months ago. I take it from your response that you did not write to the club like a number of us did on this very issue then? Well done, my arse.
Foxes_Trust Posted 9 May 2008 Author Posted 9 May 2008 Trust-With the club freezing prices til end of May,if they DO decide to lower them, will the ST holders who have already renewed get the diffference back? They would have to re-emburse or give the option of vouchers back to spend in the shop or on next year's ST

Foxes_Trust Posted 9 May 2008 Author Posted 9 May 2008 I don't believe they have left it until now to make an announcement. This kind of stance would have been useful three months ago. A month and a half ago, when a delay was put on the announcement it would have been handy. Now - it's fucking useless. We campaigned for a price freeze on the basis of staying in the Championship back in March http://foxestrust.co.uk/site/index.php?opt...54&Itemid=2 And Milan/the club listened (as we know the prices were originally going up as Paul Aldridge re-confirmed yesterday). We felt it would not be correct at that time to campaign for reduced prices if we got relegated, as it could have been read as a no confidence vote in Ollie/the Players, wrong message for a Supporters Organisation to give. We have acted quickly once we knew League 1 football was what we now face.
Foxes_Trust Posted 9 May 2008 Author Posted 9 May 2008 This season my dad and I had one of those 'Just the ticket' season tickets in the corner of the main stand and the cop. Crowd was pretty good, no singing but a mix of real fans and fairweather families. The ticket cost 275 quid though (adult price!). That works out about 13 pounds per game. For me travelling up from London it made the cost justifiable. I hope they keep this initiative going, although I see no mention of it in the Trust's article. I like the pricing proposals though, whatever we charge has to be in line with the league we're in. Just the Ticket is still being offered according to the ST brochure, but we think many more fans than 1,000 need to offered less than £300 ST's for them to renew.

Guys like Aldridge and Milan will have been working out relegation budgets weeks ago and will have decided on how much they can (un)reasonably milk out of us. According to Aldridge at the Fans Consultative Committee meeting only last Thursday no plans had been put in place should we be relegated, leave other posters to interpret that, particularly those who have a career in contingency planning, maybe they should give the club a call...... If they take a quid off the match prices, they'll stick a quid on shirts & 50p on the programme etc etc. There's not one of them would consider losing money to help out the poor bastards who fork out hundreds of pounds a year watching City. So sales of shirts or programmes fall.......

My immediate reaction to that is disbelief. I'm not saying that I don't believe you, I'm saying I'm shocked there was no contingency plan. Surely some kind of scenario planning or something was done?

Perhaps you should be asking yourself why the FCC didn't have any discussion on this topic last Thursday, when the relegation risk was very real? We did attend the FCC sub committee & also recommended a price freeze for staying in the Championship, (link to that posted on an earlier post). That was a very public recommendation via the media which worked, as the club did agree to an early bird price freeze (when we know a price rise for all was planned) There is no doubt there would have been stronger consultation on pricing with the Trust behind closed doors in previous years, however every Trust has to adapt it's role as those running the club change, so it is now more appropriate to use media campaigns. We would doubt there are many fans which wouldn't agree with our current campaign

Could have just have been saying it, but there would certainly have been a plan under the previous ownership (because we had read one in previous seasons).
Daggers Posted 9 May 2008 Posted 9 May 2008 We would doubt there are many fans which wouldn't agree with our current campaign 1. We are not the most expensive club in Div.3 2. Pricing has been set 3. I'd quite like us to go back up again 4. Your "campaign" is a press release and nothing more
