Webbo Posted 3 June 2008 Posted 3 June 2008 Could be a sly plot to try and make sure we don't get ripped off by other clubs on trying to get the players we want? I think people should chill, players will come in and players will leave. This is my reading of the situation too.
C-man Posted 3 June 2008 Posted 3 June 2008 But what message does it send the new manager? I wouldn't really want to come here with MMs record anyway, and with MM and PA telling the fans different things there's hardly the basis for a good relationship between the 3!
Flynny Posted 3 June 2008 Posted 3 June 2008 We've got billions of players, I'm sure a damn good League One squad could be cobbled together from what we've got. I don't think we'll make no signings and I don't think Aldridge thinks that either, because there's no way we'll get any half-decent manager based on that promise, but I can easily see us making only two or three.
Ric Flair Posted 3 June 2008 Posted 3 June 2008 I get the impression Aldridge is trying to shit stir. I can see him and Mandaric falling out very soon, if they haven't already. Unless this is some sort of sick PR stunt, Aldridge states there will be no incoming players, Mandaric states there will be, so when we do sign some, Milan is seen as the generous hero. This happened with the season ticket fiasco, Aldridge claimed he wanted to put the prices up, Mandaric said he wanted to reward the fans. This is all done to try and get the gullible fans to wedge tongue well and truelly up Milan's ring piece. It's hilarious. There will be players coming in, there will be players leaving. I have no doubts about that.
Kilworthfox Posted 3 June 2008 Posted 3 June 2008 I think this is not related to transfers! This is about the salary package that the new manager will recieve as LCFC manager. LCFC have decided to remove any hedge & pension funds from the salary package due to the unpredictable markets at the moment.
James. Posted 3 June 2008 Posted 3 June 2008 There will be players coming in, there will be players leaving. I have no doubts about that. Same here. But it just makes us look stupid. Even stupider than we already are.
Mr Happy Posted 3 June 2008 Posted 3 June 2008 Could be a sly plot to try and make sure we don't get ripped off by other clubs on trying to get the players we want? One club springs to mind... Cov. Linked with just about every player we are. Also I suppose QPR would be now they have abit of dosh. All i can think of really, is that the majority of players are going to stay. If only a majority of our players leave, yes we'll have a smaller squad which is what we need a good trimming down but chances are we'll still be left with the time wasters and no hopers I said to somebody at work, currantly most of the city players linked with moves away are our better players e.g. McAuley, Stearman, Mattock, Kissa, Clemence etc. Of course we have had Howard linked with a possible move away but that doesn't fall in the 'we'd like to keeep category
FleckneyFox Posted 3 June 2008 Posted 3 June 2008 If this is true im seriously re-considering getting a new season ticket.
Fox in a Box Posted 3 June 2008 Posted 3 June 2008 Would we get any of the funds if we sold players is more important, If McCauley went to Ipswitch , Mattock /Stears went we would be looking at £5 minimum for those 3, so would that be cash we could use in the market or would they hold onto that cash too? Hmmm
filbertway Posted 3 June 2008 Posted 3 June 2008 No funds.... So if/when we do sell players then funds wil be freed up? That's how I read it anyway.
Tubes Posted 3 June 2008 Posted 3 June 2008 Well we can be sure PA has not come here to make friends.
Lillehamring Posted 3 June 2008 Posted 3 June 2008 Could be a sly plot to try and make sure we don't get ripped off by other clubs on trying to get the players we want? hope so, but that would imply dangerous hints of common sense and nous...
eaststandtom Posted 3 June 2008 Posted 3 June 2008 Leicester City chief executive Paul Aldridge says the club will not be adding to their squad before a new manager is appointed. But the Foxes, who were relegated to League One last season, could still allow players to leave. "There certainly won't be any players coming in, that's for sure," Aldridge told BBC Radio Leicester. "As for players going out, clearly we would have to consider any offer that was made and respond accordingly." The club expect to name their new boss by mid-June. makes sense BEFORE a new manager is appointed
alanf0x Posted 3 June 2008 Posted 3 June 2008 Everybody calm down!!!!! It has been mis quoted on the BBC website. Aldridge said that players will not be signed whilst the club remains without a manger. We said that they will however consider offers that they receive, but have received none to date.
Manwell Pablo Posted 3 June 2008 Posted 3 June 2008 Have they moved John Barber upstrais or something?

Guest ttfn Posted 3 June 2008 Posted 3 June 2008 Personally I don't think that this is a bad thing. The last thing we need is more new, disinterested players. The club's first priority should be to ship out the dead wood - e.g. Howard and Oakley Then we should be looking for a good deal for Stearman/Mattock/McAuley/Hume - if one doesn't arise then keep them. Those players are too good (in Mattock's case potentially) to be playing in League One so they should go - they won't be happy here. Then, and only then, should we be looking at new recruits. We have one of the finest batches of young players in the country and they're never going to get a chance if we keep buying in players from other clubs. I have no doubt that given a little run of games, the likes of Worley, Ashley Chambers, Wesolowski, Porter and Gradel will be a force in the division. We need to build for the long run and the best way to do that is by not buying new players and giving the younger ones that we've got here a chance. Apologies for sounding like Thracian.

I am so angry and now it's for nothing. Quick, someone, start a thread about something I can use this empty anger on...I know, I'll start one about the price of crisps.

Firms are just using the current climate as an excuse to ramp up the prices. Shocking.
