Both very antisocial in my book. The absolute lack of self awareness and consideration for others makes me sick. Imagine if we all did this. What an awful cacophony

I don’t care if people are on their phones, but I just find it like has been said, anti social and also quite rude. Keep your volume to a maximum of where you can hear it but others can’t, or put some headphones in! It’s even worse when they get offended when you ask them to turn it down

It is my absolute No1 irritant, hearing other people's music.

For some years, we lived next door to a very inconsiderate couple who played loud music and had the TV on loud.

Where we are now, a couple around the corner from our home would have music playing very loudly until all hours. Thankfully, this is now rare.

The lack of self awareness you mention is astonishing. We have had a young couple move in on the adjacent street, their garden backs onto ours. During our first chat, he mentioned how lovely and quiet it is this area.

During the last hot spell, they would have a radio playing loudly in their garden.

The sound doesn't magically stop travelling at the garden fence you selfish sods.

I've suffered some of this too. Only music I want to hear in the garden is the birds singing

Further to the music in public places. There seems to be a tendency to want to fill the quiet with amplified music. I noticed at Queens  tennis tournament that pop tunes blared out during player change overs as if the audience having a quick chat between points would create a boring atmosphere. Luckily I don't think they do it at Wimbledon

It's almost as if that part inthe Constitution about separation of church and state was... well, a guideline rather than a hard and fast rule like the rest of it, apparently.

Was in hospital for a night a few weeks back. The two old blokes opposite were a nightmare. Both in their 80s. One watching episodes of Heartbeat on his Ipad, full volume way past midnight. This after having video calls with seemingly his whole family on speakerphone throughout the evening.

 

The other was playing Candy Crush on his phone also full blast with the music and sound effects.

Take it that deafness was the issue? No less annoying when you are on the receiving end
