Guest Bilo Posted 7 July 2008 Posted 7 July 2008 Istanbul and Zagreb scary? Why? Couple of friends of mine went to Istanbul the other week and said it was brilliant. And I although I didn't go to Zagreb I've been to and travelled round Croatia and it's a fantastic place. Seems like some countries struggle to shake off dated, inaccurate stereotypes in some people's eyes. Anyway, I'm off to Serbia via Budapest on Wednesday for Exit and I can't f**king wait! Could be very much Jekyll and Hyde places. On an ordinary weekend, Zagreb and Istanbul are fantastic. I love Croatia and Turkey, two beautiful countries that I would heartily recommend a visit to. (Splt and Dubrovnik in particular are great places to visit) However for football, it's a different story. If the fans don't want to kick the f**k out of you (they will if you're English), the riot police almost certainly will. Admittedly, a number of England fans do cause trouble, but certainly not enough to warrant the treatment that the ordinary England fan receives.
Tommy G Posted 7 July 2008 Posted 7 July 2008 Hopefully Barcelona in September with the lads to watch Andorra v England. Should be a good weekend. Same, if I can get hold of tickets.
Fox You Forest Posted 7 July 2008 Posted 7 July 2008 Not for me this year sadly. My Mother and her significant other went to Sharm El Sheikh this morning though so i have there dog round for a week, Two dogs to walk now thrilling.
Floating Fox Posted 7 July 2008 Posted 7 July 2008 This idea is actually very tempting presuming I can save up over the summer and will have some money left over after getting a new car.Looking into it. Wouldn't bother mate, they'd be loads of ****** going to a game like that. Too easy to get to. If I don't get into Uni, I'm gonna do Belarus away by train.
James. Posted 8 July 2008 Posted 8 July 2008 AHAAAAAAAA!! Taking Bird for a romantic night at the Ibis at Luton Airport tonight ready for the 06:25 to Budapest tomorrow morning. Free accommodation is great, until you travel half way around the world to find the providers of the free accommodation have split up, and have spent the weekend together for your sake. Uncomfortable? Not 'alf.
Guest Posted 8 July 2008 Posted 8 July 2008 For those of you not going away, and feel slightly miffed, please take consolation that it is raining in Cocoa Beach, FL now. I am watching people running out of the sea as I type this. For the pedants amongst you, I can touch type, so I can type this whilst watching stupid fat Americans running out of the ocean.
Monk Posted 8 July 2008 Posted 8 July 2008 Nice one Lisa. You'll be pleased to know it's going to piss it down all over the UK tomorrow. This time in 1 month I'll be in Edinburgh, 2 months in New York and 3 months in Vancouver. Freakin awesome. I'm missing a lot of the starting fixtures though including Orient. No BBQ sorry guys.

The People's Hero Posted 9 July 2008 Posted 9 July 2008 Fear not I will make it up to you guys.... erm.... Lemon Slices at Swindon Town anyone? Are there any nice rural places where we can enjoy country slices (with football I mean). Just don't go providing cherry bakewells. I fu cking hate them. I fear them.
Monk Posted 9 July 2008 Posted 9 July 2008 I concur. With any luck we'll be able to locate a Greggs for some savoury treats.
Vardinhio Posted 9 July 2008 Posted 9 July 2008 Prague is amazing, you can have such a laugh there for hardly any cash. I'm booked to go Bratislava in August with some mates, let's hope no hostel type things happen!
