Daggers Posted 15 June 2008 Posted 15 June 2008 Yea us! Aren't we great, those of us with a working penis and scant regard to wearing protection? Thirty five seconds of huff and puff, breaking a little sweat and then a reasonable hour and a half sleep and - hey presto - presents and cards for life! I got beer and a Roy of the Rovers book. I'm reasonably happy that this ranks me in the second quartile of Dads, certainly not near the bottom in 'has been on Daytime TV because he is so shit' Dad. A full fry-up is being cooked, I've got access to the TV remote throughout the day and my mug magically refills with coffee. Smart. Hallmark event or no, I'm going to milk this.
The People's Hero Posted 15 June 2008 Posted 15 June 2008 When are you making the following switches? (and will your cup continue to be refilled?) Coffee to Beer. Beer to Red Wine. Red Wine to Gin. Your people demand to know.
Guest Posted 15 June 2008 Posted 15 June 2008 Hang on a mo - I bought my dad beer for father's day, and gave mother instructions to pass them onto him today......

Your people demand to know. I'm on coffee at the mo, (not that I'm a father), usually skip the red wine stage and straight on to the gin, mmmmm gin
Webbo Posted 15 June 2008 Posted 15 June 2008 Bacon sandwiches in bed, a cup of tea and a nice Ben Sherman tee shirt, sometimes being a dad is all worth it.
Bert Posted 15 June 2008 Posted 15 June 2008 Not meaning to put a downer on it all, but just spare a thought for those who have lost their dads too.
Raj Posted 15 June 2008 Posted 15 June 2008 I'll be getting a Daddys Day card next year...erm...from my 6 month old nipper(which it will be by then......dont know how it will write the bard out,as i only started writing when i was 17!!!)

StroudFox Posted 15 June 2008 Posted 15 June 2008 Not meaning to put a downer on it all, but just spare a thought for those who have lost their dads too. All the more reason to celebrate the fathers when they are alive?
Daggers Posted 15 June 2008 Author Posted 15 June 2008 I managed to lose a Marvel Superheroes card game seven times today and appear hopelessly incompetent at Indie Jones on the 360 - kids love beating their Dads don't they!
AoWW Posted 16 June 2008 Posted 16 June 2008 Not meaning to put a downer on it all, but just spare a thought for those who have lost their dads too. All the more reason to celebrate the fathers when they are alive? Guess so.
Bryn Posted 16 June 2008 Posted 16 June 2008 Not meaning to put a downer on it all, but just spare a thought for those who have lost their dads too. Two of my best mates are without a dad, one through death and the other through the dad walking out. I know it's probably daft but I always feel bad mentioning anything about my fathers day plans, and usually avoid saying anything at all. It's a terrible thing.
hairy Posted 16 June 2008 Posted 16 June 2008 I got twelve bottles of The Dog and a Fox polo top. I also got to watch the match last night without any moaning from the Mrs! No doubt I will pay for that soon!
OriginalRobboFOX Posted 16 June 2008 Posted 16 June 2008 As a son I have three dads to buy for... A real dad, an ex step-dad and Mums new boyfriend of 6 years. No ridiculous crude puns about my Mum please. Fathers Day is an expensive time of year for me... But then I have 3 mates who have all lost their Dads and it puts everything back into perspective...
