I'll never understand how a supremely fit 23 year old can get so many injuries. Same for other athletes too.

I guess its because they push their bodies all the time, day in day out.

I think mentality plays a big part also, I wonder how many players have had similar type injuries that Radacunu has pulled out with over the years yet possibly not said anything and just got on with it.

Anything more than a sniffle and she’s done.

Maybe although she seems to have a stress fracture this time so serious .

Draper is just coming back too so probably not much hope for the Brits .

Attention will all be on Serena Williams no doubt .

Have I missed something on why so many people hate Raducanu? (Not talking about this thread)

I guess it's because she get's decent airtime and she hasn't achieved much since the US Open win. It's also fashionable to hate on sportspeople.

I think she's been unlucky with injuries, and she probably needs some consistency with a coach and that's her own doing.

Hard to look past Sinner or Djokovic in the Men’s, they are scheduled to play in the Semis again. A big opportunity for those in the bottom half, Zverev never been past R4 at Wimbledon, I’d probably give the edge to Shelton atm as Fritz has drawn Draper, Tiafoe the dark horse for me, was impressed by him in Halle.

Sabalenka’s draw got a little kinder with Raducanu’s withdrawal, and Osaka having an injury niggle in Bad Homburg. Both Sabalenka and Rybakina haven’t been convincing though in recent months. Very much like the French Open, you have a few players coming into Wimbledon, who will see it as a good opportunity to win their first Slam, it wouldn’t surprise me if we get another Czech winner.

Raducan't strikes again.

I don't hate her, I just think she gets too much press and is too highly thought of as a player because she's had one good win in her entire career.

She may be ranked higher than Katie Boulter but Boulter is the better player IMO.

I would say I agree. And I would say that they are both really fit

9 Brits out although probably mostly expected and of course doesn't help with  Draper and Raducanu injured.

BBC won't need to worry about plucky Brit in late night action.

Is Sonny Kartal injured?

Crazy how we don’t have a good British player

Murray must be doing his nut.

He did about everything he could to inspire both people and the system to follow in his successful footsteps...and look at how they are doing.

You'd think playing on grass would be an advantage to us, but i have no idea if they practice on grass courts, can't be that many around these days.

Quite a lot seem to play doubles and so well in that compared to our singles record.

But, unfortunately, that's not really where the prestige lies.

I would suggest Raducanu burnt a lot of her good faith by sacking the GS winning coach straight afterwards, but because she has been in the public eye so much as a slam winner, the revolving door of coaches has again dented the copybook, then a number of the injuries have been judged as questionable, but a stress fracture after playing so well at Queens, which could have given her something to build on and missing Wimbledon when she was in a good place, is a shame.  And seeded meant that she had a good chance of getting to at least round 3, which would have really improved her ranking, I saw a few of her matches at Queens this year and she had some good results and performances.

The Draper injury is really worrying, again after a decent Eastbourne, would really have wanted to play Wimbledon, same injury as his previous long term issue, could be a career issue, which would be sad, he has a long way back now from his current ranking.

You can't replicate that home support, they must have been desperate to play, especially after missing so much of the last year for the pair of them.

Kartal, last years success is indeed injured.  She was 44 this time LY, she is now 120, Raducanu is now outside the worlds top 32 and Draper is down to 141.

Sad times for Britain's Tennis best.  Probably Boulter last hope for a run.
