LcFcD3C93 Posted 14 July 2008 Posted 14 July 2008 Leicester City striker Matty Fryatt is determined to recapture his goal-scoring form after netting his first strike of pre-season. He scored from the penalty spot against Hinckley United at the Marston's Stadium on Saturday. It helped City, who fielded a separate team in each half, to a 5-4 victory in their first friendly of the summer. Fryatt, who led the line for City in the second half, described it as a "good start" but said he has plenty of work to do as he aims to rediscover his best form. The 22-year-old scored just three goals in 35 appearances in all competitions last season. He said: "There is lots of stuff that I have to work on. I don't want a season like last season. "There's lots of competition but I want to be playing. "Hopefully I will get back to the player I was, be banging the goals in, do what I do best and forget last season." Fryatt scored 27 goals in 49 league games for Walsall before his move to City in the 2005-06 season. He struck six times in nine outings for his new club that term but since then has found the target more elusive. He added: "I am feeling good. The manager has come in and I have taken to his style. "There's a structure in place and everyone can build from that. Sometimes last season not everyone knew where they stood. Now everyone is fighting for their place." Fryatt admitted City were given a "tough test" by Hinckley. He added: "It was a good test and capped off a good week's work for us." Attention now turns to City's pre-season training camp in Slovenia, where Fryatt was included in the 22-man party. He said: "It will be the same sort of thing. "But I think it will be hotter than our country, so it will be tough. "It will be a good week for everyone. It will be good to get the bond."
Simi Posted 14 July 2008 Posted 14 July 2008 Didn't we get one of these half way through last season? Still waiting Matthew.

Although I reckon if he was to score just one of his open-goal chances he will get without scuffing it or skying it he will bang them in week in week out easily.
Thracian Posted 14 July 2008 Posted 14 July 2008 At least he sounds positive and committed. I like the inference that everyone is genuinely fighting for their place. That's vital but will make a change at Leicester. We'll see how it works out in practise though. And how Fryatt works out. I seem to remember him "looking forward to putting a bad season behind him" last year.
skinnydipper Posted 14 July 2008 Posted 14 July 2008 The boy would have problems scoring here: The Cambodian brothel is notoriously hard to score in due to the working girls constantly moving the goal posts. In the Thai brothel however the posts are fixed.
Thracian Posted 14 July 2008 Posted 14 July 2008 The boy would have problems scoring here: Umm! I'm not sure anyone would question Fryatt's ability to score off the pitch!
The People's Hero Posted 14 July 2008 Posted 14 July 2008 Umm! I'm not sure anyone would question Fryatt's ability to score off the pitch! Well, somebody just did. See above for the evidence.

Guest Posted 15 July 2008 Posted 15 July 2008 The bit that made me laugh the most was the use of the word 'rediscover' in reference to his goalscoring. Don't you have to have discovered it and then lost it to rediscover it?

Manwell Pablo Posted 15 July 2008 Posted 15 July 2008 Cynical fools, you will rue the day you doubted the mighty Matty Fryatt!
