I can't be the only one who finds it pretty scary that 67 people "liked" a Facebook status bragging about stabbing a black teacher in a racist attack?

I don't know how they can do it. I murdered a robin red breast on my back garden with a skilled pellet gun 10-20 metre shot when I was about 10 and felt enormous guilt straight away. Buried it next to my swimming pool and asked The Lord to forgive me. The only thing I ever shot after that was my mates even though I always had a weapon and all my mates used to go hunting.

In a dangerous situation I'd have no qualms about blowing a mothachoka's head off if I had a Beretta handy, and I'd defo punch Jaws in the face and try to poke it's eyes out or AK a lion if I had to, but I could never just walk up to a giraffe and go "SURPRISE MOTHERF*&KER" and shotgun him in the throat before high-fiving the lads and posing for facebook photos. It's bloody outrageous!

lol

My favourite post on ft in a long time.

It's ridiculous. Someone I used to school with wrote about court dates, stealing/crashing cars and there were no negative comments. Just retards liking it and finding it funny.

A "depraved" care worker who sexually assaulted elderly patients and sent footage of the attacks to her boyfriend has been jailed for 10 years.

Christina Sethi, 25, targeted three victims at a care home between January 2014 and May this year.

She filmed the assaults on her mobile phone before sharing them with her partner, Plymouth Crown Court heard.

Sethi, from Torquay in Devon, admitted three counts of sexual assault and two of assault by penetration last month.

'Incomprehensible'

Recorder Richard Stead told Sethi, of Woodville Road, that she had committed "horrific abuse of three vulnerable and elderly victims who were in a care home under your care".

He said she degraded and humiliated the victims who trusted her.

The abuse was discovered when a man who knew Sethi bought a computer and found footage of the attacks on deleted files.

Devon and Cornwall Police described Sethi's actions, against two female victims and one male, as "incomprehensible".

Det Insp Ed Wright said: "Sethi committed crimes that most ordinary people could never comprehend.

"This depraved individual carried out shocking acts of abuse and grossly abused her position at the care home."

'That part of the world' (especially Iran/Iraq) were among the first to develop a writing system and certain agricultural developments and just under 2000 years ago began to realise the impact of hygiene and more advanced water systems and water-assisted 'machinery' whilst we were a bunch of pagans bashing eachother's heads in as a group of Germanic petty kingdoms.

Regressed significantly since? Acceptable. 'Uncivilised as 2000 years ago'? Behave.

As recently as 2010 Syria was pretty civilized compared to much of the World. Iran still is to a large extent.

Bizarre how that part of the world is still as uncivilised as it was 2000+ years ago.

Do you get your history from Carry On films?

As for the present, most people in that part of the world are just as civilised as you are. Some more so.

You should know that IS are mostly comprised of paid mercenaries, plenty of psychos who are lured in with big money. And they don't represent the people of the countries they have been let loose in. They are killing locals everywhere they go, so I think it is unfair to label the whole region uncivilised because of a small minority of paid up, bloodthirsty, drugged up psychopaths.

For the record, bright lights and big cities don't mean that somewhere is civilised. There are just as many barbaric and uncivilised humans in our part of the world as anywhere else. There is no need for me to compile a long list of recent proof, it's easy to check and examples are never-ending.

If and when our country becomes 'lawless' you will see just as much barbarism on our shores as you now see on the news from other 'lawless' places.

As recently as 2010 Syria was pretty civilized compared to much of the World. Iran still is to a large extent.

And if the death squads weren't shipped in, sent over the borders and set upon the Syrian police, army and civilians it would still be. I can't quite believe how western govts such as the US and UK are getting away with their support for foreign mercenary opposition terrorists (who were never moderate at all) in Syria.

They are literally supporting IS and affiliates, and aren't trying to hide it. All sane people know that Assad needs to win this war, which he didn't start, for the sake of the whole region and the people there, and yet western govts want rid of Assad even if it means backing and helping the worst terrorists.

Very much so.

The history in that area is amazing. Sadly the anti-American sentiment that's boiled over (not surprising after two decades of bombing/intervention) teamed with the growing radicalised militant Islam since we armed the Muhjahideen in Afghan back in the 80s has began to took its toll somewhat. What's amongst all the needless bloodshed and murder, what's happened in areas such as Palmyra and other Word Heritage Sites is appalling, less so obviously than the war but nonetheless pretty tragic.

Iran also took a fair whack in the Iran-Iraq War in the 80s as well, I think estimates are around 1 million dead on all sides, plus all the general damage caused. It was seen as a modern WW1 with the trenches and chemical weapons used. Although I'm sure that's mostly been repaired by now.
