Kidnapper convicted of FIFTY crimes since arriving illegally aged 14 wins bid to stay in UK https://mol.im/a/16175847

Historically, when voters repeatedly perceive institutions as producing outcomes profoundly at odds with their conception of fairness, security or common sense, support for parties offering much more radical institutional change can increase.

The stronger the perception that conventional political parties cannot or will not resolve cases like this, the more attractive politicians promising to fundamentally change the immigration and human-rights framework can become.

This is true, historical evidence for it is demonstrable.

What is also true is that when those entities promising and then delivering such radical change force a society into years of darkness where a great many innocent people of all demographics suffer and die in the name of that "fairness, security and common sense" (and historical evidence abounds on that too), those same voters have that blood on their hands.

So, unfair as the choice may appear, those voters will have to pick their poison and their responsibility for it.

After Mother and Father being labelled as ‘unacceptable language’ as well as calling for Pal Action to be desubscribed and charges dropped….Zack Polanski, again.

While I think these are strange things to pick out, my feelings on ZP have crystallised. As feared, he's allowed the usual far-left, anti-Semitic suspects to colonise his party and it will not end well.

It's hard to decide whether the Zionism motion they're debating at conference is profoundly ignorant or downright racist. Either way it is poisonous. Personally think there's every chance this'll screw their chances of involvement in a potential future coalition government - doubt Burnham touches them with a bargepole.

The modern Zionist movement is totally racist there's not even a debate to be had on that. Just speak to them and listen to what they say.

It's just a question of whether this type of racism is acceptable to you or not. The UK has generally supported racist regimes in the past eg South Africa, Chile etc.

As said above, saying "there's no debate to be had" is a ridiculous statement to make on pretty much anything.  I know it's trendy in modern politics to just declare an entire diverse political movement as "racists" but I really wish people wouldn't as it just cheapens the argument reflects really poorly on those who do.  Zionists can believe in Jewish self-determination while also believing in Palestinian self-determination and Palestinian rights. Branding all of those people as racists simply avoids engaging with what they actually believe and is a symptom of the worst aspect of socialist politics in dismissing the rights of individuals and promoting "the greater good" group think (they're all racist, they're all scroungers, they're all here for benefits, they're all *insert generic slur here*).

I said in another thread how saddened the current state of the Green Party has become.  They were my protest vote as I genuinely believed in a majority of what they stood for on social and environmental issues.  Their descent into the culture wars and current transition into an anti-Israel party purely for a specific voter demographic is disgraceful and it's the root cause of my utter contempt for Polanksi who will do and say anything to pursue his own political aspirations.  Like Farage, these people are so dangeorus.  All the Green MPs have rightly distanced them self from this and statements like "these people are racists" is prejudicial garbage that just inflames these situations.

The Greens would do well to focus on the single issue that they became known for, given that issue is already affecting a lot of people and is only going to affect more if it isn't addressed adequately.

With respect to the above discussion.

Polanski campaigning in a foreign language was another massive own goal.

Makes you wonder what his actually motives are.

I don't wonder that at all, I think he's against continual Israeli expansionism but is making his point very poorly.

On the upside (for me) a reinvigorated labour with actual labour policies will likely take the green vote which can only be good to smack down the farage threat.

I’ll never go against anyone calling out Israel’s crimes.

I was just making a separate point that campaigning in a foreign language in England is wrong

Ah I see

Tbh I struggle to care either way on the foreign language bit.

If there are people eligible to vote and speaking in their mother tongue helps that I don't really see the issue particularly. I think it's just something to moan about. The right wing press and politicians don't really care either, they just jump on these things to create the wider impressions they think will help their cause. It's a non issue imo.

Yeah it’s not something that keeps me up at night haha just don’t agree with it.

If you’ve lived here for a good amount of time and can’t speak the language that’s poor.

And I’d also say the same for any Brits living abroad. You learn the language of the country you live in.

But anyway this wasn’t the original discussion… lol

Complete own goal by the Green Party - makes them appear way more radical and is pretty much a “Jews aren’t welcome” message. Or at least, it gives that impression.

Burnham must be bloody temped by an early election.

If it was 2028 or so he'd have slammed a general election down now. Far too early yet unless he's gonna go full on rejoiner and run on that as his main manifesto pledge.

I don't think there will be much positivity in the budget and certainly for the average joe - the next 12 months will be dominated by rising costs and less money in your pocket so his stock won't get any higher than it is now, he's not had any big decisions to make yet either. However, too early anyway.

It will be very interesting to see the extent to which smacking down the Farage threat determines how people vote at the next election. YouGov published some research a few weeks ago which showed a sharp rise in the number of people saying they will tactically vote to keep Reform out at the next general election. This suggests that anti-Reform sentiment is increasing in intensity across the political spectrum. Long may it continue.

It turns out the Green Party member who proposed the ‘Zionism is racism’ motion is a close friend of a jailed al-Quaeda terrorist. There you go.

The Greens have completely lost the plot, but you have to look at how the motion was passed. Lots of single issue online voters made it happen who only voted on that issue and Polanski allowed it rather naively.

I think they'll backtrack on this and change how future motions are passed.

In effect the Green party is being hijacked and on this trajectory won't even care about the environment but focus more on other issues and communities.
