lildave3 Posted 31 October 2008 Posted 31 October 2008 BBC I Player my friend. So you actively look it up and watch it, then cheer when it goes off? I'm quite confused.
purpleronnie Posted 31 October 2008 Posted 31 October 2008 No The fact he's not on at all I think is great, maybe he'll be replaced by something worth watching.
lavrentis Posted 31 October 2008 Posted 31 October 2008 No The fact he's not on at all I think is great, maybe he'll be replaced by something worth watching. Is the Iplayer availible outside of the UK, how did you do it? I can't find a way
purpleronnie Posted 31 October 2008 Posted 31 October 2008 Is the Iplayer availible outside of the UK, how did you do it? I can't find a way Are you sure? Mine is set up through work, not sure if that makes a difference. Yes I watch them at work, its a hard life. p.s. I should state there are limitations, sport for instance you cant get, and some shows are only available to listen to. If you are in the states you can get BBC America too....not great but better than nowt. Theres loads of stuff online but never used them.
The Stig Posted 31 October 2008 Posted 31 October 2008 It's my right! They aren't controversial - Ross is only where he is because he said the phrase 'anal sex' on TV 15 years ago and Brand is only there because he looks like a lady but is really a man (which is nothing more than a rehash of a Victorian freakshow side exhibit). They are as collectively controversial as bus passes. I personally think they are controversial, but it's irrelevant, it's not that bit that I wanted people to pick up on. The fact is the producer should have realised that controversial, unfunny or not, when Jonathan Ross and Russell Brand are working together there is a chance they could cause offence and therefore this programme should have been edited better and kept a closer eye on. If it was this would never have been bought to such huge publicity. Before the tabloids got hold of this there were very few complaints. Now there’s been over 30 000. If the producer had cut that part of the show, Jonathan Ross would be rehearsing for his show right now.

The Stig Posted 31 October 2008 Posted 31 October 2008 Not true. It's filmed on a Thursday. And it's Children in Need this week anyway. You make a fair point! But it was going to be on this week, Frank Skinner and that Miley Cyrus were supposed to be on.
Bellend Sebastian Posted 31 October 2008 Posted 31 October 2008 I like the way that lots of people that don't watch Russell Brand are saying he shouldn't be on the telly/on the radio/allowed to breathe etc. If they don't watch or listen to him, why do they give a toss? I do like to listen to him, and now I can't. Hardly seems fair, does it? I think Last of the Summer Wine is the biggest pile of fooking wank on the television and an insult to my intelligence, but I don't demand it's taken off the air

Nobody seemed to mind then that I/others hadn't seen it first hand. But if you think that humiliating an old man to get cheap laughs is acceptable behaviour then I'm not going to be able to convince you otherwise.

Did I say I did? An error of judgement for which a humble apology was required and given, and I respect RB's own decision to fall on his sword, so to speak, which he didn't have to do - Ross, arguably the worst offender, remains in a job. The humiliated old man may have felt boosted by the media/public/political witch hunt, but I suspect it made him even more embarrassed than he was already
Finnegan Posted 31 October 2008 Posted 31 October 2008 That radio show was by far the funniest show on the Radio. Think you'll find that's Rhod Gilbert.
Daggers Posted 31 October 2008 Posted 31 October 2008 I respect RB's own decision to fall on his sword, so to speak, which he didn't have to do - Ross, arguably the worst offender, remains in a job. Brand has lost a £200,000 p/a radio show - Ross has lost £1,000,000 in wages
Uncle Albert Posted 31 October 2008 Posted 31 October 2008 Brand has lost a £200,000 p/a radio show - Ross has lost £1,000,000 in wages They will hardly miss it they can make that up easily and double it in selling stories to magazine's and the papers. Thats what the sad thing is.
Bellend Sebastian Posted 31 October 2008 Posted 31 October 2008 Brand has lost a £200,000 p/a radio show - Ross has lost £1,000,000 in wages I'm getting them, I'm his replacement. You'll all be begging for his suspension to be cut short in no time
The Stig Posted 31 October 2008 Posted 31 October 2008 Here's an argument for you to ponder over. "I pay my lisence fee and enjoyed both Friday Night With Jonathan Ross and The Russel Brand Show on Radio 2. Now I can't enjoy them (granted only 3 months for the first). How is that fair on me? 30 000 people complained that Ross and Brand were offensive. Several million who listen to and watch their shows didn't complain. Why should we have to put up with getting less entertainment on our lisence fee?"
Daggers Posted 31 October 2008 Posted 31 October 2008 Here's an argument for you to ponder over. Most people bitching about losing these two for a bit don't even pay license fees...something else to ponder, eh?!
Bellend Sebastian Posted 31 October 2008 Posted 31 October 2008 Here's an argument for you to ponder over. I've told you before, democracy doesn't work
Koke Posted 31 October 2008 Posted 31 October 2008 I agree with Stig. I'm pissed off that I won't be able to watch Friday Night with Jonathan Ross. I pay my license fee too, yer know.

craigadams22 Posted 31 October 2008 Posted 31 October 2008 Just to add to Brand, Ross I'm glad Russell Brand has quit the BBC. He's a total nutter, And Jonathon Ross I am very shocked and surprised at him doing something like that. Especially on a £6million pound deal a year, He should have been sacked straight away. Regards Craig A

Bastards, eh?!

Regards Craig A I always wondered who these people are who complain about TV shows. I now know. Reminds me of someone at work yesterday complaining about the girl on drive thru - for not saying please and thank you. This kind of attitude is annoying me probably more than anything has before, ever. Is it just this country?
Nod.E Posted 1 November 2008 Author Posted 1 November 2008 I never said it was my opinion. Just an opinion I've heard. Is that fence comfy? I agree with that view.
