Corky Posted 13 April 2009 Posted 13 April 2009 My God!The green lines, the corner flag and now this? Did nothing go right today? I said I was NOT going to complain Daggs And it was good to hear the original PHG
Matt Posted 13 April 2009 Posted 13 April 2009 ... and they played Heroes in Blue and White loud enough for people to hear the lyrics, too. It got a much better reception today. What with that, and the PHG played live, the pre-game was the best we've had in a long while, despite the PHG actually not being played all that well! Needs more than one outing per season, I think. Yeah that was great played loud, I have said it before and i'll say it again I prefer normal 'proper' PHG played but the recorded version, When Henry played it he was out of tune and pretty embarrassing, I saw this young bloke and I could see he had a horn and though he might be better than Henry (Being younger, got better lungs, can hit the notes, e.t.c) but he was poor aswell - Don't get me wrong it must be a hard instrument to play, I couldn't and have no intention too. Everything was perfect today. Good choices by music (Ranging from the volume of Heroes in Blue & White, To the original PHG, to the delay of playing Chelsea Dagger - Ok that bit wasn't perfect but better and tbh today I couldn't have a gave a fuk! ), to the atmosphere, to the game, the how the players player, to the last goal.
leicesterseddon Posted 13 April 2009 Posted 13 April 2009 thought the live PHG was better then the remixed rubbish, but how many dud notes did he hit? mind you, maybe it's time we just accepted it's a ****ing hard tune to play on a ****ing hard instrument (esp. in front of a crowd and tv cameras), and just played the old PHG. then again, that would be sensible, so hasn't got a cat in hell's chance of happening... the chelsea dagwank was the only thing that spoilt it for me today. oh, and playing 'rockin' all over the world' at the end other than that, great day

As cheesy as it is, it has the desired effect. You only had to look around the stadium to see that for yourself. As normal post match, I went down to the advertising barriers at the bottom of the Kop to applaud the players. The steward standing on the pitch suggested I turn around and look at the Kop in full voice banging out the famous Quo lyrics. It was a great sight. I wouldn't want it every week, but as I've stated, it produced an atmosphere that was great to be part of.

I felt proud seeing them playing the PHG live again as the players came out, made it feel like we're different and have some tradition that other teams don't have. Shame he couldn't get all the notes right but it had the desired effect, hopefully he'll do it every week and will get better!
lou Posted 13 April 2009 Posted 13 April 2009 Agree with everyone else re the PHG....... loved it and it makes me so proud to hear it. Im not gonna diss the guy for missing a few notes - I couldnt even make one note! I dont think it matters to be fair. Is Henry no longer with us? Bless him. I wish to God they would drop Chelsea Dagger ffs I detest it.
Daggers Posted 13 April 2009 Posted 13 April 2009 oh, and playing 'rockin' all over the world' at the end Yep - I also noticed how an air of despondancy descended upon the whole stadium when that was played.

Also, liked the PHG and I didn't actually notice the Chelsea Dagger
Corky Posted 13 April 2009 Posted 13 April 2009 "Rockin all over the world" was fine. You should've been in such a euphoric state that you didn't care what was being played over the PA system.
TrickyTrev Posted 13 April 2009 Posted 13 April 2009 It felt so good to hear the proper PHG today. Except the bloke was woeful! I was laughing at his rock star one handed lift of the horn at the end too. But I would love it if they had a guy with a horn every match.
Tilley Posted 13 April 2009 Posted 13 April 2009 I had to double check with a few people that they even played Chelsea Dagger, because to be quite honest, I didn't even hear it.
Munzie Posted 13 April 2009 Posted 13 April 2009 The guy with the horn should stay (although a little more practice or even a couple of stiff drinks to calm the nerves would be in order). What was the club thinking with the club singer joker at half time. Did he win some random karaoke compitition in order to get his 5 minutes of fame?

lildave3 Posted 13 April 2009 Posted 13 April 2009 The PHG actually made my day. I was so so happy to hear it. Please stay with us
Daggers Posted 13 April 2009 Posted 13 April 2009 SSN even took the piss out of the PHG player Not as much as they took the piss out of Fat Millwall Kid
Tilley Posted 13 April 2009 Posted 13 April 2009 Not as much as they took the piss out of Fat Millwall Kid What was it? "There is going to be a proper knees up tonight, if he can see his knees?" Or something along those lines..
carterfox90 Posted 14 April 2009 Posted 14 April 2009 I remember the good old days at filbert street of 'Iwan' ringing out after the Ginger Welsh Wixzard had assaulted the entire oppostition team and scored. Those were the days. they were great days were'nt they
carterfox90 Posted 14 April 2009 Posted 14 April 2009 It felt so good to hear the proper PHG today. here here it seemed to put so pride back into the players & fans a great day :scarf:
Mike the Metal Ed Posted 14 April 2009 Posted 14 April 2009 I've just emailed Peter Jones to congratulate whoever made the call. Great to see our traditions acknowledged instead of exploited for once.
Corky Posted 14 April 2009 Posted 14 April 2009 Not as much as they took the piss out of Fat Millwall Kid That was great Alan Parry
Jay Posted 20 May 2009 Posted 20 May 2009 From some interview with Kasabians Chris Edwards Presumably if Leicester got to a cup final, you lot would write a song?Ha ha, probably not. I'm sure we could but it's more a matter of if we'd want to - though the rest of the band might insist. We have done a 15-second edit of our single 'Fire' and sent it to the club, though. We quite fancy the idea of 30,000 people singing 'I'm on fire' every time Leicester scored. Now that would be pretty cool. is this the end of the horrible Chelsea Dagger? lets hope so!!
