The player that.............

...made you really proud to be a leicester city supporter.

For me, as he was there when i was growing up (my generation if you like), it has to be Emile Heskey. And the fact that he is playing for Enlgand still and being linked with a return to Liverpool still makes me very proud.

Linekar, ask people over here who Leicester is and they draw a blank but you ask them if they know Gary Linekar and they know who he is straight away.

Linekar :dunno:

None whilst I have supported Leicester though

During my 40 years of following LCFC has to be Gary Lineker. It's probaly only known in Leicester that he played more times and scored more goals for us than any other club he played for.

A legend not only in Leicester, but also probably in Liverpool (the blue side) Barcelona, North London and Japan!

Gordon Banks runs a close second as he was a City player in the 66 World Cup winning side, how many clubs can claim one of their players was responsible for that?

Big Emile for me!!

The first player from Leicester that represented England while wearing a Leicester shirt that I can really remember that made me really proud in a unique way and for the lad to put his hand in his pocket a few years later shows what a great bloke and underrated player he is!!!

so nice one Emile!!

There have been many over the years but, shamefully, all of them from the time of MON backwards.

I suppose Davie Gibson epitomised everything I ever wanted to be as a footballer - his control of a football was almost magical and if I had to choose two words to hang on his name they'd be "sheer class".

All action winger Lenny Glover was another. Reputations counted for nothing with Glover. He was a nightmare for the best of em. He'd turn and run at anyone and leave em for dead. One of the most exciting players you'd ever see and not just occasionally.

But there was one more too, not so skillful individually, but a man who for so long seemed to act as a standard bearer for the club during the best period of its history.... Graham Cross.

A wing-half or centre-back Crossy defended with the courage of Kisnorbo but he could pass too and would attack like a man possessed. The bloke never stopped. By contrast to the always immaculate Gibson, he was forever caked in mud.

Like a clockwork warrior it was as if they wound him up before the kick off and he'd just ompete non-stop until the end. Commitment with a bit of class thrown in. Frank McLintock was much the same but for a much shorter time.
