RowlattsFox Posted 13 December 2008 Posted 13 December 2008 But surely there are Championship strikers West Brom could wast £4m on??? I really cannot believe that this is true, will have to see it to believe it.
Ultra Posted 13 December 2008 Posted 13 December 2008 £4m is silly money, even as someone who rates Fryatt I'd snap WBAs hands off.As a bit of an optimist I'd also back DJ to score goals once he has had a bit of a run in the team. I remember Sunderland paying well over the odds for Connolly - this could actually happen. It was actually Wigan. They sold him to Sunderland for a lot less than they paid us. Come to think of it, where is he now? We could get him back for a pittance.
Thracian Posted 13 December 2008 Posted 13 December 2008 It all shows what dilemma chairmen can have. I've not taken much notice of the idea that Fryatt might leave until now because at the sort of money mentioned there'd have been no sense at all in selling him. But they say everything and everyone has their price and in Fryatt's case the notional £4million really does take some thinking about. And the split in opinion only confirms what a difficult question it would be were the money to be put on the table.
The Blur Posted 13 December 2008 Posted 13 December 2008 I would only accept 5 million and a player thrown in for good measure but then again it would never happen I would rather to go up with Fryatt, at least he have experience of championship unlike any potential replacements for Fryatt ( Mackail-Smith,McLean and Beckford etc)] Our rivals won't want to sell us their main source of goals so we would have to restort to a unproven striker in League Two (Ward) or a over the hill hitman in Championship- (Thompson, Scrowcroft etc) We can always re-sign Deep Freeze
Trav Le Bleu Posted 13 December 2008 Posted 13 December 2008 In the present economic climate, which club outside of the big 4 or those with sugar-daddies, like QPR, are going to be able to afford £4m. RL need to take a good hard look at themselves for entertaining this nonsense! <_<

The Blur Posted 13 December 2008 Posted 13 December 2008 what has he done in his League career to suggest that? He banged in goals a lot during his days at Bham and Brentford
Jimmy Posted 13 December 2008 Posted 13 December 2008 He banged in goals a lot during his days at Bham and Brentford no he didn't he has NEVER even gotten double figures at a club can we stop this myth that DJ Campbell is a proven championship goal scorer he played 43 league games for Brum and scored NINE goals he isn't proven at any level above the non-league as he has NEVER gotten double figures in league football in his career tally let alone in 1 seasonhis League football stats Team Games (goals) Brentford 23 (9) Birmingham 43 (9) Leicester 33 (4) he is just another elvis hammond
syston_fox Posted 13 December 2008 Posted 13 December 2008 no he didn't he has NEVER even gotten double figures at a club Just out of interest, how many minutes did he play for Birmingham as he was used as a late substitute a lot of the time so those stats make him look a lot worse than he was.

I don't know, soccerbase and Wiki don't go into that detail, but the point remains he has never been a prolific goal scorer people seem to think he is, had we signed him for about 250k that would of been about fair but brum saw Allen coming
The Blur Posted 13 December 2008 Posted 13 December 2008 no he didn't he has NEVER even gotten double figures at a club Fair enough, you proved me wrong
lildave3 Posted 13 December 2008 Posted 13 December 2008 I'm laughing straight to the bank with this. Ha ha ha ha.
Mickey O'Neil Posted 13 December 2008 Posted 13 December 2008 We should tap-up a few players before selling for £4m !
Samilktray Posted 13 December 2008 Posted 13 December 2008 I'm laughing straight to the bank with this.Ha ha ha ha. Fantastic.
Carlos9 Posted 13 December 2008 Posted 13 December 2008 Everyones saying 'We'd get a better stiker for 4 million' aye... 6 Goals in a week aint that bad isit .. I reckon hes worth more than 4 million. Hes the reason we are top of the leauge.. U get more than 4 million for winning that dont you? If we sell him for 4 million we would buy a risky striker which i doubt will be as good as fryatts form atm If he dont sign at the end of the season.. Let him make his descion.

Samilktray Posted 13 December 2008 Posted 13 December 2008 Thought you'd appreciate One of my favourite posts. Quality lad.
Fez of Mahrez Posted 13 December 2008 Posted 13 December 2008 I remember Mandaric saying we'd lose £1.5million from going down. The gap financially is absolutely nowhere near the same as between the Prem and Championship.

No . i think you only get about £2m for winning the championship.
Maybes Posted 13 December 2008 Posted 13 December 2008 £4,000,000 what fool at WBA has offered that? Cya matty. This seems incredibly like the connolly situation when he went to wigan

The gap financially is absolutely nowhere near the same as between the Prem and Championship. No . i think you only get about £2m for winning the championship. It's more like hundreds of thousands. I believe the difference between finishing 21st in the Champ and winning L1 is only about £600k .
Carlos9 Posted 14 December 2008 Posted 14 December 2008 Alright maybe i was wrong! But if he went do you think we would win the leauge? Because the 4 Million dont mean nothing to me if it stops us getting promoted on the 1st time fo asking
Koke Posted 14 December 2008 Posted 14 December 2008 Tony Mowbray needs to get a bit of perspective on life. The bloke must be really desperate for him to offer £4 million for Fryatt. I know West Brom can't hit a cows arse with a banjo, but surely if he's looking for a striker, then why not go for Ebanks-Blake or Kevin Doyle or even get their old fella back Kevin Phillips. I'm still giggling over this £4 million for Fryatt.
