What gigs are you going?

Got free tickets to Emeli Sande this evening. I know she divides opinion due to being over played the hell out of all last summer but she's a hell of a performer, decent evening!

Also want to give a mention to the support act, Lulu James, a confident, funny Geordie with a hell of a voice and some great production, one to watch that's for sure!

SPLINTER ALBUM & UK TOUR

Gary Numan’s new album Splinter will be released worldwide on Monday 14th October, to be followed by a UK Tour in November. We’ll have more details soon, but it ranges from the wall-of-electronic noise that is ‘I Am Dust’ to slower velocity anthems such as ‘Where I Can Never Be’ and the orchestral strings of ‘Scream’. The album features guitarist Robin Finck (Nine Inch Nails, Guns N Roses) and is produced by long-standing collaborator Ade Fenton.

Although Numan released a straight-to-the-fanbase album Dead Son Rising in 2011, this is his first self penned full album since Jagged in 2006. In recent years he’s been quoted as an influence by everyone from Lady Gaga to Kanye West; Matthew Dear to Queens Of The Stone Age, The Foo Fighters and Nine Inch Nails (the latter inviting Numan on stage at several shows in 2009, including their o2 Arena concert in London); Prince to Boyz Noise, Richie Hawtin and Battles (they released a single ‘My Machines’ on Warp Records with Numan in 2011). But while Numan’s unique style continues to connect with fans from the worlds of Metal, Hip Hop, EDM, Industrial and Indie, he remains as focussed as ever in pursuing his own singular vision. Splinter sounds like no-one else while utilising new sounds and ideas. Perhaps it’s the voice – one of the most distinctive in rock music and often associated with machines and icy alienation, but for those who are drawn to Numan’s songs, his singing is strangely emotional, almost soulful in places. And if you like that side of his writing, you certainly won’t be disappointed with the new album where there are 4 or 5 tracks that set Numan’s vocals against moody atmospheric slow-burners to stunning effect.

however did I guess you would post about Gary Numan lol

I kind of imagine you as a jed maxwell character from Alan Partridge

with a giant Gary Numan tattoo

No tattoos at all, not even a Leicester one and I'm just a normal everyday bloke that happens to be a fan of Gary Numan, of course I'm going to post his tour dates here. I'm not the only fan of both Leicester City and Gary Numan you know.

This is the sort of music he does nowadays. No Alan Partridge air bass here

  • 2 weeks later...

"Live at Leeds" is tomorrow, all day event with tonnes of acts smattered across the city.

Kicking it off at the o2 by seeing the Pigeon Detectives (for nostalgia) at half two, by which time I'll know how slaughtered I need to be regarding the City result. Then I've got Little Comets and Tribes at the same place, not massively into either but willing to give them a fair crack live.

Hot foot it to the Cockpit to catch The 1975 and Swim Deep at 7-8:30, then dash to The Refectory at Leeds Uni to fit in all of Theme Park and Everything Everything to close. Few bands I've really gotten into there, especially Swim Deep and Theme Park, and just over 20 boys for an all-day wristband is nowt, really. Gets me out the house and 'refreshed' for a day.

I will pretty much be following you around that day then, same route planed for me.

Also got tickets for babyshambles at leadmill this morning. Have been told that if this sells well then it will be upgraded to the academy here in Sheffield.

Nice mate, ridiculously good price to see a clutch of bands I'm really keen on. Theme Park and Everything Everything should be quality.

This was decent, queue for the Cockpit took the royal piss though. Didn't matter at the time considering I was slaughtered and we'd robbed Forest, mind.

Theme Park and Swim Deep were cracking.

Going to see Midge Ure play an acoustic set at the Minack Theatre. I've always liked Ultravox and I happened to notice he was playing there at the same time I will be on holiday in Cornwall.

Have to say this was one of the best gigs I've ever been to in terms of surpassing expectations. Midge has still got a great voice and a stunning location too!

The guy who posted the 2nd video was sat one row in front of us and to the side, I think.

you will not be disappointed by Muse. i was their last night for the first gig of the tour and it was insane. i visited Barca earlier this year and stopped off at the olympic stadium and it will be a brilliant venue for this gig. enjoy it!

I know. Really, really excited. I've been to a few gigs at the Olympic Stadium, such as Bon Jovi, and it's never disappointed yet!
