BoneDog Posted 8 January 2009 Posted 8 January 2009 What this situation proves, more than anything else, is the stupidity of man and the absence of a god. I don't see how war proves the absence of a God? If you imagine God as a man with a beard as we get taught in school I can see why you would think of it as ridiculous. But how you could imagine that our planets just appeared (as did the perfect lifeforms) without any intelligence behind it is beyond me. If someone said to you that your car just appeared out of nowhere without any design you would call them an idiot. And our planets and bodies are a billion times more complex than anything man-made. I also don't see how it proves the stupidity of man. Most men and women want to live in peace, and do live in peace as brothers and sisters. That is until leaders of people decide to commit atrocities. Then you obviously get reactions. Grief makes men do stupid things. Man has always lived in peace until leaders decide they want more and go to war. Even in Israel Muslim, Jew and Christian were living in peace until other countries decided otherwise (Crusades and WW1 and 2)
BoneDog Posted 8 January 2009 Posted 8 January 2009 That's not the impression I get you've had almost 100% defence for everything the Palestinians do and barely, if any acceptance that anything the Israelis do is acceptable.Or perhaps I've misread you! I've said that most leaders in my eyes are idiots, including Hamas. I feel sorry for the Palestinians because in 1948 they got forced out of their homes (300,000) and the Israelis stole their houses. And ever since then, every year, they have been getting shit on. If people were doing that to us Brits, then we would be fighting back too. I also feel for innocent Israelis when something happens to them. I have said on this thread that 'firing rockets randomly is wrong', so I have not had 100% defence for everything the Palestinians do.

BoneDog Posted 8 January 2009 Posted 8 January 2009 I get a feeling this topic will either become a 'GOD vs NON GOD' or any other totally random topic!! Haha! Well let's leave it here, There is obviously a Creator and that's that! End of.

Head Honcho Posted 8 January 2009 Author Posted 8 January 2009 I advised people to watch the whole film which is not about kids. That clip is just one I found on youtube. Watch the whole film Occupation 101. I'm not biased, I don't prefer one people over another. I like all races of people no prejudice whatsoever. I just hate oppresors of people Are all your thoughts on this subject based around watching youtube videos?
BoneDog Posted 8 January 2009 Posted 8 January 2009 Are all your thoughts on this subject based around watching youtube videos? What you on about? Occupation 101 is not a youtube vid, the clip was. But obviously your sources are so much better than mine! I've already stated what I read/watch.
BoneDog Posted 8 January 2009 Posted 8 January 2009 Are all your thoughts on this subject based around watching youtube videos? I bet you could watch the whole film on google vid. But I bet you wouldn't watch it cos it doesn't fit in with your view on those people. I watch videos from all sides

Alexikokopops Posted 8 January 2009 Posted 8 January 2009 Are all your thoughts on this subject based around watching youtube videos? As long as, on the back of this, we don't sign a Palestinian wonderkid who marked Figo out of a game once then it's fine by me.
Saladin Posted 8 January 2009 Posted 8 January 2009 This is the video that El Empty is talking about, Occupation 101
Jon the Hat Posted 8 January 2009 Posted 8 January 2009 But how you could imagine that our planets just appeared (as did the perfect lifeforms) without any intelligence behind it is beyond me. You need to read The God Delusion by Richard Dawkins. It will answer all of your questions. There are scientific explanations for these things you see. Note: The God Delusion cannot be read on youtube.
Hullfox Posted 8 January 2009 Posted 8 January 2009 So are we saying that God doesn't have a beard then?
l444ry Posted 8 January 2009 Posted 8 January 2009 This is the video that El Empty is talking about, Occupation 101 In the interests of fairness, here is a link to a review of the said video you mention. http://www.camera.org/index.asp?x_context=...;x_article=1415

There are scientific explanations for these things you see.Note: The God Delusion cannot be read on youtube. That book is just a rant. A better book is 'The Dawkins Delusion' by Alister McGrath. Plus, youtube is not just videos of people being sick and funny dogs you know. You can get real documentarys split into a few parts. I only go on there cos I'm new to computers and don't know where to find things. But you can keep going on about it if you must. And if you like Dawkins books I suppose that means you believe in the evolution theory? That theory has been disproven in the last 20 years not least by the fossil record. There is not 1 fossil of any species in between stages. And of course if evolution was fact then there would be millions of fossils of creatures in between stages (as the theory states that it would take millions of years for 1 species to evolve into another). So are we saying that God doesn't have a beard then? I like it
Alexikokopops Posted 8 January 2009 Posted 8 January 2009 One of my favourite quotes about Richard Dawkins, by Charlie Brooker: "So the other day I'm flopping about in my pants watching The Root of All Evil, Richard Dawkins' new Channel 4 series about religion, and it's alternating between terrifying and hilarious. Terrifying because it feels like a report detailing the final seconds before the world slides into an all-out holy fistfight, and hilarious because every time Dawkins meets a religious spokesman, which he does at regular intervals throughout the programme, he quickly becomes far too angry to conduct a civil conversation with them - visibly fumes, in fact, and adopts the expression of an outraged Victorian gentleman who's just been mooned by a cackling street urchin while escorting a lady across Bloomsbury Square. It doesn't exactly move the debate forward." And from another column about his next series: "Dawkins has softened his style somewhat since his previous series, The Root of All Evil, in which he toured the globe interviewing religious extremists. Trouble was, their views made him so uppity, he occasionally came off worst. They remained eerily calm, while he huffed furiously. And because he looks and sounds precisely like Professor Yaffle from Bagpuss, the end effect was often unintentional hilarity."

BoneDog Posted 8 January 2009 Posted 8 January 2009 As long as, on the back of this, we don't sign a Palestinian wonderkid who marked Figo out of a game once then it's fine by me. I bet there aint many Pal wonderkids when it comes to football! I think there land is about the same size as Birmingham and how many wonderkids have we had from there besides Lee Hendrie?!

I am not going to get into an argument, but you really are better off staying well clear of the concept of proof if you are going to talk about God. You have none. Not one iota of proof of any sort. You have faith. Good for you, there is a lot of value in faith. But really - don't start talking about proof. On another note, the interesting thing about Science, is that it's theories move to take in new information. It is about understanding, knowledge and explanation. A very different kettle of fish to Faith. A gap in the fossil records merely poses questions it does not provide answers. Science can deal with that. As for Religion as the root of all wars, this is true and false. Religion is a form of Power, which is the root of all wars, however not all Power is religion, unless you change the definition slightly to incorporate the gods of Energy, Economics, need and greed.
Alexikokopops Posted 8 January 2009 Posted 8 January 2009 If this turns into a religious debate I'm locking it. Consider this a final warning.

Yes I agree about what you say about proof. But all the science we have came from Islam, Christianity and Judaism in ht e past 1000 years. As for religion being the cause of wars as so many people say, that is wrong. The 20th century was the bloodiest ever but none of those wars were started by religion (WW1 WW2 Vietnam Korea Iraq etc). Some leaders pretend they are religious and try to shift the blame. Please don't shut this down, let's get back talking about the Israel/Palestine thing.
Corky Posted 8 January 2009 Posted 8 January 2009 god doesn't exist Oh yes he does (this is still pantomime season isn't it?) I am God!!!! Source?
