dandannieldanok Posted 4 January 2009 Posted 4 January 2009 We would still have been in the Championship if people had kept their mouths shut and Mandaric had grown a pair.Warnock is a clever and canny man who knows both people and football. Nothing is certain in football and no matter what his record is we'll never know if he could have kept us up. The reason MM chose Holloway was because he was doing an excellent job at Plymouth but different clubs = different situation altogether as we all found out come May.
Edmund Posted 4 January 2009 Posted 4 January 2009 Amazingly, Ferguson was never an option at the time whereas Warnock was until gripers here and at the Trust bitched to Mandaric. I think it is then fair to look at his record to make an estimate of how he would have got on here. fairplay, to be honest i think we would have had a better chance of staying up but hey weve moved on and got a younger better manager in nige. lets hope it worked out for the best.
Matt Posted 4 January 2009 Posted 4 January 2009 I wanted Warnock when he was linked with us, I'm wasn't the biggest fan of him, but the dust has settled over what he said about us and I quite like him now, I think he would have done a good job here aswell but we'll never know. As for him coming in and keeping us up, Obviously i'd have liked it and wanted it, but I really am seeing last seasons relegation as a blessing in disguise.
Daggers Posted 4 January 2009 Posted 4 January 2009 The reason MM chose Holloway was because he was doing an excellent job I think it had more to do with his priorities for joke-telling: Worthington Allen Megson Holloway Pearson See? It goes miserable, funny, miserable, funny, miserable...the next manager is going to be a real hoot.

Corky Posted 4 January 2009 Posted 4 January 2009 Who are we going to get next, can't think of any funny managers left. Scolari? Mourinho? I know, it's Iain Dowie
Maybes Posted 4 January 2009 Posted 4 January 2009 I actually love him, but he is still a willy puller nonetheless.
GLC Posted 4 January 2009 Posted 4 January 2009 Scolari? Mourinho? I know, it's Iain Dowie oh god please no pearson is still here we dont need anyone eles!
He's not bald Posted 4 January 2009 Posted 4 January 2009 oh god please no pearson is still here we dont need anyone eles! And even if we did it wouldn't be Cockhead..I'm surprised he's even worth this thread...the bloke's a twat...always was and always will be!
Ultra Posted 4 January 2009 Posted 4 January 2009 He's done a decent job at Palace - as I'm sure Paddy McCarthy, among others, would confirm. But he combines the rentaquote mentality of a Holloway with the dour negative tactics of a Megson. His time with us could only ever have ended one way - in tears.
Bert Posted 5 January 2009 Posted 5 January 2009 The Robbie Savage of managers. I never really used to like him, until Sheff United were in the premiership. Ever since then I have done, down to his interviews etc from MOTD. Speaks his mind, and pleases the people that he has to please, doesn't care what people think unless they mean something to him, added to the fact he's a good manager, I'd not grumble if he ever came here.
Ultra Posted 5 January 2009 Posted 5 January 2009 Warnock's the football equivalent of Arthur Scargill - knowledgeable and highly articulate, but ultimately too inflexible and self-obsessed to be truly successful.
Jon the Hat Posted 5 January 2009 Posted 5 January 2009 Without the fans behind him he would have fallen flat on his face here. I am sure he is one of those you like if he is your idiot rather than sommeone elses, but he more than anyone else pissed me off with his comments after admin. Did he say a word about Ipswich? No. Twat.
Ozwin Posted 5 January 2009 Posted 5 January 2009 He's still an absolute **** of mammoth proportions.
Koke Posted 5 January 2009 Posted 5 January 2009 We would still have been in the Championship if people had kept their mouths shut and Mandaric had grown a pair. The fans didn't want Megson here, but Milan still went on to hire him. Milan will employ Dennis Wise if he wants to, no amount of fans pressure will stop him.
carterfox90 Posted 5 January 2009 Posted 5 January 2009 cant deny warnock has a good track record of getting clubs promoted & seems to get the best out of his players
FilboFox Posted 5 January 2009 Posted 5 January 2009 He's a grade A tw*t... I can't stand him AT ALL! The teams he manages just turn into dirty... no, filthy... teams that hack others down. He was arse licking in the interview and probably didn't mean a word of it! Hated him back in 2002... hated him when he was linked the City job last year... and guess what... I fooking hate him now too!!!
Darkzzz_ Posted 5 January 2009 Posted 5 January 2009 I personally don't mind him at all. I was very pissed off when he said what he said about us going up, blah blah blah. In the past now, we went up and that was that. But other than that he is, like other people have said someone we love to hate. He speaks his mind and is very passionate, those for me are two great quality's anyone can have. That's not to say that he doesn't go over the top sometimes though, because we have all seen it with him. I actually wanted him as manager at the time, If it is a crime, hang me now.
wirralsimon Posted 5 January 2009 Posted 5 January 2009 I haven't got a problem with him. When he said those things about us a few years ago it was before a match against us and he was tring to add some spice to the encounter. He is good at getting results from limited players, he knows his job inside out and he is an incredibly sore loser which are arguably the qualities you need to manage in the Championship. He is also a bit of a cock, but when all is said and done he would have kept us up last season. Simon
Alexikokopops Posted 5 January 2009 Posted 5 January 2009 I agree he sounded like a sound guy, but i also thought he could be taking the mick. And when he said hes never worked under Mandaric but hes had the chance afew times, i thought he was maybe refering to Leicester and that Mandaric maybe wanted him as boss, i dont know. But him saying he wants Leic to be promoted, he was the one who wanted us to have points deducted when we went into administration. I think he was taking the mick, he said both fans created a good atmosphere but from where i was sitting (B2, normally i sit in L1)) there wasn't really an atmosphere. I think he was being sarcastic, but i could be wrong, and fair play to him for allowing himself to be interviewed, it was good to hear a cheery manager after Pearsons interview where he wouldn't give anything away and i thought he was quite blunt with Ian Stringer Alright, we get the point!
CosbehFox Posted 5 January 2009 Posted 5 January 2009 The guy is full of integrity and straight as they come. Sometimes, the truth hurts.
davieG Posted 5 January 2009 Posted 5 January 2009 The guy is full of integrity and straight as they come. Sometimes, the truth hurts. That's funny as I get the complete opposite impression, a guy who will say what he wants to say to get his own way whether it be true or not, whether it upsets innocent people or not, a thoroughly selfish individual who plays boring percentage football ala Wimbledon of old. If he'd have become our manager I'd be watching Hinckley on a regular basis.
Vestan Pance Posted 5 January 2009 Posted 5 January 2009 This will never be forgotten. Would we really want this dick as our manager? http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=9ZDsjY3uFdE
StanSP Posted 5 January 2009 Posted 5 January 2009 Albion's second goal was pretty good! Santos' tackle is disgraceful. When was this by the way?
