JoeyB Posted 4 January 2009 Posted 4 January 2009 Anyone here is interview after the game? I thought he seemed like an alright chap. Praised both sets of fans & Nigel (also said he is one of the only managers he got along with) Also said something about it being nice if we could wrap the title by easter. Although people hate him, i thought he was very fair towards us in the interview.
Raj Posted 4 January 2009 Posted 4 January 2009 One of me mates is a die hard Sheff Utd Fan and has met Warnock. Apparently he's a bloody nice chap. Not as nice as me though
anotherwin Posted 4 January 2009 Posted 4 January 2009 Yeah, I thought he was fair too. I think he said it was Mandaric that he got along with though. Made me laugh about 10 seconds into the game yesterday, when the Kop gave him some abuse, and he looked at his watch as if to say- bloody 'ell, this early!
SystonFox Posted 4 January 2009 Posted 4 January 2009 i too heard the interview and it was nice to hear them things coming from an oppo's manager. hope we stuff em at their place though
BoneDog Posted 4 January 2009 Posted 4 January 2009 He is a sound bloke. Talks some shite sometimes but we all do that. He used to manage Burton Albion who are my local club so I think he's alright. Better than Glenn Hoddle anyday
Father Ted Posted 4 January 2009 Posted 4 January 2009 I personally thought he was arse-licking to the maximum.
DB11 Posted 4 January 2009 Posted 4 January 2009 Made me laugh about 10 seconds into the game yesterday, when the Kop gave him some abuse, and he looked at his watch as if to say- bloody 'ell, this early! That was funny I didn't get what the watch thing was though
demon_dog Posted 4 January 2009 Posted 4 January 2009 I too heard the interview. Praised Milan and Nigel and our fans. A colleague of mine knows him personally and says that he is a sound bloke, he always says what he thinks, rightly or wrongly. I do know for a fact though that he does not like our pitch! For some reason he feels that it is not good enough to play a passing game on. That may explain why Palace played as they did yesterday.

Although people hate him, i thought he was very fair towards us in the interview. Warnock. Where to start eh? The man is a lovable and humorous gob-shite when he's in your corner and will make you smile with his remarks when he takes on much bigger fish. When he's not in your corner and you are his particular adversary at that moment, it's easy to hate the annoying, smarmy, banterous, smart-Alec, swaggering, yappy little terrier of a man. He's said some crappy things about Leicester when we came out of Administration through a then 'loop-hole' and upset a lot of our fans. The man has a very big mouth. I also think though if as a fan base we hadn't spat our dummies out at Milan when he applied for the Leicester job, with that air of don't rock up here and stick a manager in, that this club hates attitude he may have got the job and probably we would still be in the Championship. When the man speaks he either makes me laugh or makes me cringe. Would I have him as a manager at my football club? Yeah, I would.
Corky Posted 4 January 2009 Posted 4 January 2009 I also think though if as a fan base we hadn't spat our dummies out at Milan when he applied for the Leicester job, with that air of don't rock up here and stick a manager in, that this club hates attitude he may have got the job and probably we would still be in the Championship. I didn't want him, Mandaric should have backed his own thinking. No fan wanted Megson, but he still went for him. I can't stand Warnock, but his interview sounded pretty fair. If he's like that more often I may warm to him slightly.
Manwell Pablo Posted 4 January 2009 Posted 4 January 2009 the man is now and will forever be a c0ck Here here.
StanSP Posted 4 January 2009 Posted 4 January 2009 That was funny I didn't get what the watch thing was though What don't you get about it? He was expressing his surprise at how early the Kop were laying into him.
LCFC123 Posted 4 January 2009 Posted 4 January 2009 I have actually grown to like the guy. I admire the work he has done and his passion for the sport is fantastic
Trav Le Bleu Posted 4 January 2009 Posted 4 January 2009 From Wikipedia... When Leicester restructured their debt after going into administration in 2002, they gained promotion to the Premiership, at the expense of Sheffield United, who had to make do with a play-off place. After United failed to gain promotion Warnock revealed his anger at the Leicester situation. Incensed that City could have got into such a state yet continued to compete at the top of the table, with no punishment, Warnock complained to the press, claiming United should have Leicester's place in the Premiership and the club should have been relegated or booted out the League. Any team now going into administration is automatically deducted 10 points, although even with this punishment Leicester would still have been two points clear of United. git!
Benji Posted 4 January 2009 Posted 4 January 2009 He's just a very passionate man. He usually speaks before his adrenaline has had time to settle down and I imagine if we'd knicked a 1-0 win he'd have given a lot different analysis on the radio complaining that the referee was giving us a lot of fouls. That's not to say that a lot of what he say's is right, he often says the most ridiculously bias and stupid things imaginable, but his passion and desire to succeed is something you can't fault.
Scow Posted 4 January 2009 Posted 4 January 2009 Warnock would do well to engage his brain before speaking.
Ashley Posted 4 January 2009 Posted 4 January 2009 I actually like Warnock, before we appointed Holloway I wanted Warnock to become are next manager.
The Phantom Posted 4 January 2009 Posted 4 January 2009 What don't you get about it?He was expressing his surprise at how early the Kop were laying into him. I would say it was more the case of - "Wow, it's took you this long"
Daggers Posted 4 January 2009 Posted 4 January 2009 We would still have been in the Championship if people had kept their mouths shut and Mandaric had grown a pair. Warnock is a clever and canny man who knows both people and football. An annoying little man with a turn of phrase which can incite fervent hatred - now who does he remind me of?

I hate it when people look at hindsight and try to say otherwise you will never know. IF we had Alex ferguson we probably would have stayed up.

Although people hate him, i thought he was very fair towards us in the interview. I agree he sounded like a sound guy, but i also thought he could be taking the mick. And when he said hes never worked under Mandaric but hes had the chance afew times, i thought he was maybe refering to Leicester and that Mandaric maybe wanted him as boss, i dont know. But him saying he wants Leic to be promoted, he was the one who wanted us to have points deducted when we went into administration. I think he was taking the mick, he said both fans created a good atmosphere but from where i was sitting (B2, normally i sit in L1)) there wasn't really an atmosphere. I think he was being sarcastic, but i could be wrong, and fair play to him for allowing himself to be interviewed, it was good to hear a cheery manager after Pearsons interview where he wouldn't give anything away and i thought he was quite blunt with Ian Stringer

IF we had Alex ferguson we probably would have stayed up. Amazingly, Ferguson was never an option at the time whereas Warnock was until gripers here and at the Trust bitched to Mandaric. I think it is then fair to look at his record to make an estimate of how he would have got on here.
