Matt Posted 20 March 2009 Posted 20 March 2009 Leicester City manager Nigel Pearson has made a £400,000 bid for Liverpool defender Jack Hobbs, who is currently on loan with the League One leaders. (Daily Star)
Kilworthfox Posted 20 March 2009 Posted 20 March 2009 Good decision! i could add him to championship quality players that we have then  Also decent price for his ability & age.
Mickey O'Neil Posted 20 March 2009 Posted 20 March 2009 Pleased with that. Hobbsy has obviously seen sense and has the vision to see a place in a starting line up is worth more than being able to say "I'm a Liverpool player".
Sir Fynwy Posted 20 March 2009 Posted 20 March 2009 Pleased with that. Hobbsy has obviously seen sense and has the vision to see a place in a starting line up is worth more than being able to say "I'm a Liverpool player". It's only a bid, could be rejected or another team may try to get him. I prefer it if we signed him before all the rumours start.
crafty fox Posted 20 March 2009 Posted 20 March 2009 bet gary megson is on the phone to rafa right now
Matt Posted 20 March 2009 Author Posted 20 March 2009 Might not have even happened, paper talk init. 1st person to say it! Surprised no-one has said "It's only the Daily Star" - But being something good people will believe it, If it was something bad it would just be tossed to one side with people saying "It's only the Daily Star".
Fox92 Posted 20 March 2009 Posted 20 March 2009 Good decision to bid for the lad, but then again it is paper talk like mentioned above. I would have him though. Get him in....
Ford Super Sunday Posted 20 March 2009 Posted 20 March 2009 Excellent news He has slowly developed brilliantly this season. When Pearson played him at wing back in the early part if the season, he was getting a bit of stick, and maybe rightly so. But he has found himself. I trust him almost as much as TUNCH! now, and firmly believe that he and Hobbs can strike up a partnership in defence. Only thing I will say.. £400k... couldnt we start the bidding at £250k, and see what happens (unless other clubs are looking at him, which wouldnt be a surprise)
maddog Posted 20 March 2009 Posted 20 March 2009 400k is a bit steep. How much did Tunch cost us Less than that, more than that Either way need to compare Tunchev's price with what we pay for Hobbs.
Jon the Hat Posted 20 March 2009 Posted 20 March 2009 If Hobbs develops into a prem quality player, and Tunch does the same Hobbs will be worth more cos he is English. So not surprising he would cost more than you would think now. Can see there being some add ons.
davieG Posted 20 March 2009 Posted 20 March 2009 400k is a bit steep. How much did Tunch cost us Less than that, more than that Either way need to compare Tunchev's price with what we pay for Hobbs. Tunch was bought from a club in desperate need for cash, Benitez has by all accounts just been handed £30mill and Liverpool are hardly in dire straits or desperate to sell, that and our desire to get him will dictate the price not their comparative abilities. Having said that with that sort of money available chances of Hobbs making the first team are disappearing fast.
Rocky Dennis Posted 20 March 2009 Posted 20 March 2009 Obviously true if its in The Star? This is no better than a 'football rumours' story, shouldnt the thread nazi's delete????
STUHILL Posted 20 March 2009 Posted 20 March 2009 KNOWITALL please confirm if true!!?? Personally think 400k is spot on, he is good defender and will get better and better. Tunch and Hobbs pairing next year with Morrisson as back-up would be great!!
Monk Posted 20 March 2009 Posted 20 March 2009 I think £400k for Hobbs would be a very shrewd bit of business indeed
Hackneyisblue Posted 20 March 2009 Posted 20 March 2009 I think £400k for Hobbs would be a very shrewd bit of business indeed 400K for Hobbs would be excellent business if he turns into the new Steve Walsh. I can't believe that people would like to offer less and take the chance of losing him. If we'd have offered 2m for Davis we may have got him, no point in haggling if the player is quality, you want him and risk losing him by attempting to save a bit.
Kilworthfox Posted 20 March 2009 Posted 20 March 2009 Tunchev cost 850k i believe. Great business, Best money LCFC has spent in years. I have said it before, but if it is ture which it is, then why not Tunchy Wooooooooooooooooooo
Fox You Forest Posted 20 March 2009 Posted 20 March 2009 I dont think theres any way Hobbs would be allowed to leave Liverpool permanently Dont you now!!!!!!!!!!!!!!We will see. wink wink. You saw it first here. KNOWITALL please confirm if true!!??Personally think 400k is spot on, he is good defender and will get better and better. Tunch and Hobbs pairing next year with Morrisson as back-up would be great!! Not many people picked up on it first time round.
Kilworthfox Posted 20 March 2009 Posted 20 March 2009 Not many people picked up on it first time round. nice find FUF
Alexikokopops Posted 20 March 2009 Posted 20 March 2009 KNOWITALL please confirm if true!!??Personally think 400k is spot on, he is good defender and will get better and better. Tunch and Hobbs pairing next year with Morrisson as back-up would be great!! This is what he said on the matter before I dont think theres any way Hobbs would be allowed to leave Liverpool permanently Dont you now!!!!!!!!!!!!!! We will see. wink wink. You saw it first here. Edit: Just seen FUF has already posted it! I should have read the second page!
Scow Posted 20 March 2009 Posted 20 March 2009 Hobbs and Tunchev would be a cracking pairing at Championship level as well. I can only hope the Daily Star get something right.
Joe. Posted 20 March 2009 Posted 20 March 2009 He's worth more than that in my opinion. £400k would be a bit of a steal.
