davieG Posted 21 March 2009 Posted 21 March 2009 Anyone else consider this an odd statement? So, he never considered himself part of the team who paid his wages? Who nurtured him? He never considered himself good enough to make the grade? Why did he never consider himself a Liverpool player? Does he consider himself a Leicester player? Perhaps because was born in Lincoln, spent his formative years at Lincoln and never really felt part of Liverpool. I can imagine with the large numbers of players they have at the various levels from all over the world that it could be quite difficult to settle in and feel part of the club. He probably only spoke to the manager twice, once when he joined and when he came to us on loan.
davieG Posted 21 March 2009 Posted 21 March 2009 Interesting snippet from Wiki... The young defender spent the 2005–2006 season in the centre of midfield for the reserves having been put there by Paco Herrera.

I never spoke to the Chief Executive of the large chemical company I used to work for - but I still felt part of it. Just find it an odd statement s'all.
Babel Posted 21 March 2009 Posted 21 March 2009 Interesting snippet from Wiki... He was played in midfield to try and improve his passing and ball control, we do that quite a bit with defenders at reserve level.
davieG Posted 21 March 2009 Posted 21 March 2009 I never spoke to the Chief Executive of the large chemical company I used to work for - but I still felt part of it.Just find it an odd statement s'all. I would class that as quite different, besides even in that situation it's how you interact with your peers, maybe that just didn't happen. I'm sure as a member of the 1st team here it will be entirely different and he'd feel that. Doesn't seem strange to me not that I've ever felt like that where I've worked. 4th beer by now you'll soon be incoherent
Daggers Posted 21 March 2009 Posted 21 March 2009 ....you'll soon be incoherent I'd have thought you'd noticed that was a permanent state of being for me when we last met.
Thracian Posted 21 March 2009 Posted 21 March 2009 Interesting snippet from Wiki... Please don't give Pearson ideas like that...he'd be another Kisnorbo.
davieG Posted 21 March 2009 Posted 21 March 2009 Please don't give Pearson ideas like that...he'd be another Kisnorbo. Ha, Ha, it wasn't meant to give him ideas but it's good to know that 'as part of his development' he was put there. All players should have a stint (not one game and not chop and changed) in other positions as part of their development.
StanSP Posted 21 March 2009 Posted 21 March 2009 CONFIRMEDI did post a week ago that Leicester would want to buy him. However I did post it in the middle of another thread. I am getting a bit parnoid. Hobbs and Leicester want the deal, waiting on Liverpool. Would think a Liverpool source leaked the info to see if anyone else is interested. Hobbs has never thought of himself as a "Liverpool player"He was forced to sign a new two year contract with Liverpool before he joined Leicester. If he had not he would have had a season in Liverpool reserves and looking for a new club himself at the end of the season and Liverpool still getting a fee. I don't get why this is an odd statement. I think he's trying to say that he never felt comfortable as a Liverpool player and he didn't feel right playing for a club that he didn't want to be at. Basically being in the wrong place doing something you love.
Dames Posted 21 March 2009 Posted 21 March 2009 400k is a good price and (as mentioned earlier) Liverpool don't really seem to mind losing money on players they don't want Robbie Keane being an example of this.
MPH Posted 21 March 2009 Posted 21 March 2009 Anyone else consider this an odd statement? So, he never considered himself part of the team who paid his wages? Who nurtured him? He never considered himself good enough to make the grade? Why did he never consider himself a Liverpool player? Does he consider himself a Leicester player? didnt he only join them a couple of years ago? i can see what he means though... if you sign for a team and then not play for them ( other than single appearance in the carling cup) then its hard to feel part of the club, i guess.

colbo68 Posted 21 March 2009 Posted 21 March 2009 if thats true i think it would be a MASSIVE signing for City - he's good
stevie909 Posted 21 March 2009 Posted 21 March 2009 Would be a bit of a steal at 400k tbh, id expect him to go for something nearer to 550-600. When you look at it though, he is untested at champ level and for that money you could probs get a more experienced player at that level and still have a bit of change.
DB11 Posted 21 March 2009 Posted 21 March 2009 I thought Hobbs was very poor today! Really? I thought he looked good today. Although Morrison did outshine him.
lcfc81 Posted 22 March 2009 Posted 22 March 2009 I thought Hobbs was very poor today! I must say I have to agree, wouldn't be suprised if he's been told to play crap to get his price down!
volpeazzurro Posted 22 March 2009 Posted 22 March 2009 Really? I thought he looked good today. Although Morrison did outshine him. Isn't it strange how we view things differently eh! I thought they were both extremely poor. Its as if they had never heard of the concept of a midfield. Time and time again Hobbs would hoof it without even glancing to see if there was a simple pass on (which there invarioubly was). At times, even the 'hoof' wasn't even in the general direction of one of our own players. He a decent prospect by I wouldn't want to pay any more than 400k. Cheers.
BigGibbo Posted 22 March 2009 Posted 22 March 2009 Although the claim has absolutely no credibility what so ever, I do hope it will materialise.
DB11 Posted 22 March 2009 Posted 22 March 2009 Although the claim has absolutely no credibility what so ever, I do hope it will materialise. knowitall has said it's true and that it was probably leaked by Liverpool to see if any other clubs were interested.
knowitall Posted 22 March 2009 Posted 22 March 2009 Anyone else consider this an odd statement? So, he never considered himself part of the team who paid his wages? Who nurtured him? He never considered himself good enough to make the grade? Why did he never consider himself a Liverpool player? Does he consider himself a Leicester player? Yes he does feel he is part of the first team set up here at Leicester. He feels included in getting this team promoted. Where as at Liverpool he never felt like he was part of the first team squad set up. he himself my feel he can make the grade, but if the club exclud you from certain things you may well feel not a Liverpool player

Dr The Singh Posted 23 March 2009 Posted 23 March 2009 400k is about right, good business for both clubs!!! He's never gonna play for the Liverpool first team, and he already has a big learning curve for the champoinship!!
