davieG Posted 21 March 2009 Posted 21 March 2009 MockeryPatrick Kisnorbo wants to see out the rest of his career at Leicester City, he revealed today. The Australia international, who is 28 next week, is out of contract at the Walkers Stadium in the summer. Kisnorbo said: “I'm the longest-serving player here so I would like to think this would be my final club.” Any discussions about his future are on hold until the end of what looks like being a promotion-winning campaign for City. “It is really at the back of my mind and all I am concentrating on is the final eight games,” he said. “Then I can sit down with the manager (Nigel Pearson) and talk about what is going to happen in the future.” Kisnorbo joined City from Hearts in the summer of 2005 and has made nearly 150 appearances for the club. But, for almost a year, Kisnorbo's career has been blighted by injury - and the disappointment of City falling into the third tier for the first time in the club's history. However, he says it is a “real bonus” to be playing again and to be involved in City's final push to climb out of League One at the first attempt. He returned to action against Millwall last weekend after four months on the sidelines with an injury to his right knee, suffered seven games into his comeback from a cruciate ligament injury to his other knee. He said: “I could not have faced being out for a whole year and it is great to be back before the end of the season. I want to be part of it and if it only means getting five minutes here or there then so be it.” So far, the signs are that Kisnorbo could have more game time than he was anticipating. He appeared for the final seven minutes of last weekend's victory against Millwall and then played for an hour in the behind-closed-doors friendly against an English Colleges X1 on Tuesday. “I've had no problems with the knee and I'm fit and raring to go,” he said. “It was great to be part of a winning set-up. Since I've been here, we've been fighting relegation and then gone down so it's great to be pushing towards something. “The manager's kept a settled squad and confidence has played a big part too. I also think the chemistry among the players is a winning ingredient.” Kisnorbo's return to full fitness is timely with Bulgarian star Aleksandar Tunchev and on-loan Hull defender Wayne Brown both sidelined by injury. “Wayne will be back very soon so that does mean competition but that's a healthy thing,” he said.
Tubes Posted 21 March 2009 Posted 21 March 2009 Was'nt expecting that, pleasantly surprised. Sign him up.
StanSP Posted 21 March 2009 Posted 21 March 2009 Pleased with this. One of my favourite players and was gutted when he injured both his knees. To be honest though, I was quite surprised at this statement as it is quite a bold one. He's still relatively young and he seems quite committed to the club now.
Lillehamring Posted 21 March 2009 Posted 21 March 2009 interesting. but... 1. do we want to keep someone that has struggled with injury 2. didn't he want to leave when we appeared to be rubbish 3. can NP teach him how to pass. not a massive fan of him, but i'm guessing if he wants to stay we might get his salary down a bit...

I would if my own fans boo'd every time I appeared! Not his fault he was played out of position.

Don't think he did. And I'm sure NP will have words with him about his distribution. Overall he is a good defender though. Once Tunchev comes back, it will be a nice selection headache for Pearson because Morrison and Brown will be here, plus Hobbs might still be around.
davieG Posted 21 March 2009 Author Posted 21 March 2009 Being a cynic it could be because he knows no one else will risk giving him a contract. We're probably his best chance.

MPH Posted 21 March 2009 Posted 21 March 2009 get him on a two year deal and then sell him next january after half a season. we get at least a million quid he gets regular football. bish bosh. sorted.
Flynny Posted 21 March 2009 Posted 21 March 2009 I love it. I'm fairly sure he could get a decent Champonship gig at a club like Barnsley or someone if we stay up, perhaps even get re-united at Ipswich with McAuley - but he'd rather stay, knows he can't so is playing on his popular appeal. Sign him up.
StanSP Posted 21 March 2009 Posted 21 March 2009 By the way, why is Mockery the first thing to read on here??
MPH Posted 21 March 2009 Posted 21 March 2009 By the way, why is Mockery the first thing to read on here?? because the news gets published in the merc first?
StanSP Posted 21 March 2009 Posted 21 March 2009 because the news gets published in the merc first? Ah I just realised that Mockery also meant Mercury. P.S. I'm not from Leicester...if that makes any difference
MPH Posted 21 March 2009 Posted 21 March 2009 Ah I just realised that Mockery also meant Mercury. P.S. I'm not from Leicester...if that makes any difference . come on pearson! pick a team thats goign to blow them away!!! we want 8-0!!
Tevez Posted 21 March 2009 Posted 21 March 2009 Who's going to buy an Injury hit player that has not proved his worth in League One?
Legend_in_blue Posted 21 March 2009 Posted 21 March 2009 If he wants to stay, I can't think of a better player you could use as backup for our back 4 next season. Hobbs (hopefully) and Tunchev all the way. CB is not the problem, RB is.
Bert Posted 21 March 2009 Posted 21 March 2009 Well. Very shocked about that. Especially after what's been banded about.
BoneDog Posted 21 March 2009 Posted 21 March 2009 Good news. Kisnorbo was a major reason for our outstanding defensive record in the Championship last season. I would love to keep him for next season, if he stays fit he will come in very handy. He also scores goals
dandannieldanok Posted 21 March 2009 Posted 21 March 2009 Who's going to buy an Injury hit player that has not proved his worth in League One? He's hardly had the chance to prove himself in League One, I'm sure if he'd not been injured he'd have cruised through this league considering his Championship form. I reckon a few clubs would definitely take a chance on him.
J.Lisemore Posted 22 March 2009 Posted 22 March 2009 Who's going to buy an Injury hit player that has not proved his worth in League One? Hes proved himself in the Championship...never mind League One.
leicesterseddon Posted 22 March 2009 Posted 22 March 2009 we should keep him as a squad player if he takes a 30% wage cut otherwise he can fook off. too injury prone and couldn't pass water
Koke Posted 22 March 2009 Posted 22 March 2009 How is he too injury prone? Prior to his terrible knee ligament injury against Wednesday, I can't recall him missing too many games for us.
Miquel The Work Geordie Posted 22 March 2009 Posted 22 March 2009 Our defence would be very, very strong in the Championship if he chooses to stay.
