Sly Posted 29 March 2009 Posted 29 March 2009 I wouldn't start Gilbert, he's poor!Bad control and bad defending! He's been average recently but the squad isn't exactly flushed with right backs ..... unlike a few seasons ago.
Sly Posted 29 March 2009 Posted 29 March 2009 How can you pick Ajdarevic if you've never seen him play? .....wasn't that the tactics of the previous management?
Thracian Posted 29 March 2009 Posted 29 March 2009 Warner; Gilbert, Hobbs, Morrison, Mattock; Gradel, King, Oakley, Dyer, Howard, Fryatt. subs: Kisnorbo, Adams Porter, Ajdarevic, Kee. I'd like to change some more but we don't have the personnel. If Ajdarevic is good as he's supposed to be (and I doubt that he is) I'd even consider Dyer at left-back and the new lad in front of him to give us another attacker. That team won't happen of course. But I'm sick of our lack of pace, passing and movement. Unlike Chambers, Kee is a genuine in-form striker and I don't see how he can be worse than Dickov or Hayles. Nor can Porter surely be worse than Berner and he could double up as an option on either flank. Hobbs and Morrison have played together all season and while, individually Hobbs and Kisnorbo were okay for most of the time Saturday they weren't that hot as a pair.

Fox92 Posted 29 March 2009 Posted 29 March 2009 Warner Gilbert Morrison Hobbs Mattock Gradel Oakley King Dyer Fryatt Howard ___ Sometimes I like Gilbert. then I don't because he sometimes plays good then bad. But, I'd rather see him at right back as the other defenders in Kisnorbo/Hobbs/Morrison cannot play right back. They are natural centre backs. Remember when Gilbert was injured and we had to stick Hobbs in there, the stick he was getting was unbelievable. So, please stick with a natural right back - no thanks Edworthy though. Have we got any more wingers apart from the lad from Liverpool because I don't think I can stand watching Gradel and Dyer anymore? I would go with Martin if he is back, but I don't think we can put straight back in goal after injury. So, lets stick with David James Tony Warner in goal. Kisnorbo out, Morrison in. Also, what about Dyer/Gradel out, Mattock left midfield and Powell in at left back?
Bert Posted 29 March 2009 Posted 29 March 2009 Can anyone remember when Sheehan got changed to Shush? Can someone in power changed Porter to Pratt or something?

maddog Posted 29 March 2009 Posted 29 March 2009 Pearsons bound to pick: Warner Gilbert Hobbs Kisnorbo Mattock Gradel Oakley King Dyer Fryatt Howard Subs: Stockdale, Dickov, Hayles, Berner, Morrison. That will almost certainly be the starting 11.
davieG Posted 29 March 2009 Posted 29 March 2009 Warner; Gilbert, Hobbs, Morrison, Mattock; Gradel, King, Oakley, Dyer, Howard, Fryatt. I wasn't impressed with Kisnorbo, he looked off the pace, was turned 2 or 3 times definitely was not match fit in terms of reactions to events and offered no more than Morrison does with his distribution. To my mind he simply wasn't ready for a 90 minute performance.

Cropwellfox Posted 29 March 2009 Posted 29 March 2009 For all that Pearson has gone on about this season is all about everybody in the squad doing their bit, it's become very clear that beyond the 8 or so who are shoe-ins for every game there is no depth at all...Don't know whether Carlisle have pacy wingers, if not this is what I would do... Warner Edworthy Hobbs Morrison Powell Oakley King Berner Dyer Fryatt Howard Subs: Gilbert, Pentney, Dyer, Chambers, Kisnobo

He played in the Millwall game and that poor period of the season, now hes back during this one and played in yesterdays loss. He can't possibly be match fit yet.

Virtually word for word what I was about to say I know he's had the two injuries but he shouldn't play because he's Patrick Kisnorbo he should play if he's the best option in that position and he's not right now. It can't be a coincidence that both of our crap spells have come when we've had him in the back line. I'd give him the benefit if it was one poor run but not two. Put in Brown or Morrison and let's get back to some sort of defensive stability and promotion form.

Agreed he played at Brighton Rotherham home v Northampton and away at Peterborough our worst 4 performances of the season His only other start v Bristol Rovers we scored twice in the last few minutes or he wouldnt have been in a winning saide incredible in view of our record

He can't possibly be match fit yet. Two things: 1) If you're referring to when we played Millwall at home, he was injured and didn't play. 2) Just because we haven't got a great record when he plays, doesn't mean it's his fault. There are other factors. The whole team went to sleep against Brighton, and he was one of our less bad players (I'd go so far to say our best outfield player) on Saturday. 3) His experience will prove invaluable at the end of the season - the guy has been here years and knows what it's like to pull through tough times. He was instrumental in the 'great escape' of 2006-7 and in pulling us away from danger in 2005-6. Last season, we were 1-0 up against Sheff Wed when he went off. We conceded 3 goals in the last hour subsequently. Not a lot of our players who could be worthy of a start have that kind of experience, with Warner, Oakley and Howard being the exception.s Warner Gilbert (only because there's no-one else) Hobbs Kisnorbo Powell Gradel Oakley King Dyer Howard Fryatt subs: Stockdale, Berner, Morrison, Chambers, Adams
