Cox would be a decent signing, but as others have said, I feel that other areas of the team are more important.

We need a dynamic centre midfielder, a capable full back and another decent winger before we even think about another striker.

I don't even think we need a player like Cox - we need some sort of experienced Prem/Championship striker like Kevin Phillips (never going to happen) or maybe someone like Shefki Kuqi or Clinton Morrison.

Kuqi and Morrison are the sort of players i don't want us to sign.

Lumping up to Howard in the Championship doesn't work as proved last season.

Young, pacy strikers is who we should be looking at signing.

Lets see how many of the loanees if any we keep first before thinking about a spending spree.

Shefki Kuqi's an awful player. Cox is exactly the type of player we should be looking at in my opinion; young, talented and has something to prove in the Championship if he wants to make it any higher than that. If played with the right strike partner the effects could be brilliant.

Agreed. I wanna see some flair next season if possible. Might give us a chance of a good push

Don't think he's worth that kind of money tbh. That's over 4 times what we paid for Fryatt for a player that basically has the same early career scoring record. I don't doubt he's a good player, but £2m just seems like a bit of a rip-off to me, especially considering he's unproven at Championship level. I'd certainly be looking with more interest at players such as Paul Gallagher of Blackburn who will be available rather than Cox.

Sure, but he's had arguablly as good a season as Fryatt and that'd probably be Fryatt's valuation now, more or less.

Doubt we'd release him for less.

chuck Matty in as a part ex-change, he isn't good enough for the Championship

I was impressed with Simon Cox when we played them, quick, strong and scores a lot of goals

I'd agree with that, then go and get Liam Dickinson or Caleb Folan (as backups for Howard) and watch us go !!

He's a good player at championship level. And as we've seen, when Howard gets injured, we've got nothing.

I'm not saying don't sign Cox - but if we've got £2 million let's spread it around a little. If we could get him for between £1-1.5m then that would be ok. £2m is too much for a totally untested player

Narh, Kuqi's shit at every level.

He's also nine million years old. I'd rather the Lee Hughes rumour to that.

Though, as an aside, it'd be interesting putting Kuqi and Ajdarevic in the same room together.

I chatted to a Swindon fan about this not long ago. He generally knows his shit. I said to him if Leicester had a chance of getting him if we went up and he said yes. He reckons it won't be the quality of club that stops him moving but the pricetag. He doesn't reckon Swindon will take less than £3m and that noone would pay it, particularly not the Prem clubs. So if we cough up we've as good a chance as anyone.

Has anyone thought that this could actually be a replacement for fryatt who potentially has been lined up for a big money move next season?

doesnt matter if fryatt has just signed a new deal - might of had some sort of big fee get out clause or somthing...

Dont know if anyone has mentioned this on the thread already but.... Joe Kuffour anyone???

Very pacey winger/striker.

Scored again tonight.

Looked sharp against us at home... I would like someone like him in our team.

Simon Cox excellent when Swindon came here. Would be a good buy. Can't believe anyone is seriously thinking of buying Lee Hughes? Smokescreen...
