jimmer Posted 4 April 2009 Posted 4 April 2009 Just to get away from the ohhh we've blown the title and only make the play-offs nonsense. To you guys that were there today, how did he look when he came on? commentators said he made an impact, would like to hear peoples opinions........is he poss a good coup? give us another dimension for the run in? (which it sounds like we badly need!)

(which it sounds like we badly need!) Looked nervous and got lucky with his pass that fluked to King that eventually led to the 2nd goal. Hard to say but I was disappointed that Gradel went off as I thhought he was one of our better players both in of attacking and defending and taking corners.

I don't think he was nervous. He was, perhaps, guilty of trying too hard when he first came on, and nearly tripped over the ball. But he clearly rates his own skill on the ball, and wasn't afraid to take players on. And a nervous newcomer would hardly have grabbed the ball to take a corner would he? He'd have let Oakley take them all. Gradel did do well, and was clearly the most committed member of the team, but Pearson evidently considers him a player who will run his socks off for sixty minutes or so and then tire - the substitution worked OK I thought.
Webbo Posted 4 April 2009 Posted 4 April 2009 Hard to say. He didn't do anything special but it's not fair to judge yet.
maddog Posted 4 April 2009 Posted 4 April 2009 He did all he could. Made a mess with his first few touches, doing silly turns and was lucky to get a free kick. But i counted at least 8 passes along the floor straight to one of our players, and he put a better cross in for the corner he took than Oakley has in hundreds of free kicks and corners this season. Oakley had a shocking game, regardless of his goal, he was shite.
lildave3 Posted 4 April 2009 Posted 4 April 2009 Actually wanted the ball, always looking for it. I like the look of him. And Joe loves his Cruyff turn.
Daggers Posted 4 April 2009 Posted 4 April 2009 Clumsy. Good to know that one initial mistake isn't going to be held against him. Seriously, did you bother watching the game after that slip because calling him 'clumsy' is a touch moronic.
Joe. Posted 4 April 2009 Posted 4 April 2009 Those cruyff turns in the centre circle were quite majestic.
lifted*fox Posted 4 April 2009 Posted 4 April 2009 thought he looked decent. first couple of touches were a bit suspect, but the lad has defo got confidence (something we're very much lacking in right now). the two corners he took were spot on, well placed & showed Oakley up. he wanted the ball, wanted to work, wanted to succeed. fair play, hopefully he can help us out in the run in.
lcfc81 Posted 4 April 2009 Posted 4 April 2009 Was it just me or did he seem to make loads of time on the ball for himself? Thought he looked good, likes the ball at his feet, seemed competent in the air. Would say I thought he meant that pass for the goal so my judgement might be a bit suspect!
Father Ted Posted 4 April 2009 Posted 4 April 2009 He only doddered around with the ball in the centre circle, almost as if he was waiting for someone to come and tackle him. Too laid back. Only slowed things down even more.
Jimmy Posted 4 April 2009 Posted 4 April 2009 he did seem to mean that pass for King which set up the move for the second
Daggers Posted 4 April 2009 Posted 4 April 2009 Didn't really look very good. Shhh and go open another shandy
C-man Posted 4 April 2009 Posted 4 April 2009 Always wanted the ball, went back to get it off the centre-backs, and generally used possession very well. Has a lot of confidence, something we as a team are lacking severely at the moment. Hopefully he'll be useful in the run in.

This. The wrong player at the wrong time - proof, if it were needed, that Pearson has completely lost the plot.

teblin Posted 4 April 2009 Posted 4 April 2009 Looked ok, kept it ticking over, picked up the 2nd ball made himself available, found a blue shirt with his passing.
