Brainy Posted 6 May 2009 Posted 6 May 2009 David Noble - released by Bristol City. Played a big part in their promotion push last year.
Bert Posted 6 May 2009 Posted 6 May 2009 Why should we go for him then? If we're going for a player that Bristol City don't even want, then that shows a lack of ambition to me, especially seeing as we should be hoping to be around where they have been the past few seasons next season.

A player with something to prove can sometimes turn into a jem. True I'd prefer Mark Noble, but hey, thats not a bad shout and lets face it, some decent players will get released.
FleckneyFox Posted 6 May 2009 Posted 6 May 2009 Carl Fletcher released by Palace would be decent, ex club captain and Wales international.
Basingstoke Fox Posted 7 May 2009 Posted 7 May 2009 Could get some of these players http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/t...ent/8034857.stm
General Smuts Posted 7 May 2009 Posted 7 May 2009 I'd take Carl Fletcher if he still has the talent he showed at West Ham.
SMX11 Posted 7 May 2009 Posted 7 May 2009 BWP and Rudi Skacel are not getting new contracts... BWP i wouldn't get though
foxoffderby Posted 7 May 2009 Posted 7 May 2009 I think we should be very wary of free transfers. Remember martin allen's buys? most were frees and look what happened. But its true sometimes you can pick up the odd nugget. Just as long it is the odd one here and there. Remember they are on free for a reason.

Remember they are on free for a reason. several, actually 1. not good enough 2.Club cant afford to renew the contract due to the current financial market 3. player has fallen out with current management 4. player is unhappy playing in lower division 5. player is keeping his options open. 6. club think player is demanding too much and refuse to be held to ransom
Jimmy Posted 7 May 2009 Posted 7 May 2009 I'd take Carl Fletcher if he still has the talent he showed at West Ham. apparently he was impressive whilst on loan for Plymouth and is a large part of the reason they stayed up
General Smuts Posted 7 May 2009 Posted 7 May 2009 apparently he was impressive whilst on loan for Plymouth and is a large part of the reason they stayed up Definately worth a look at methinks.
Dr The Singh Posted 7 May 2009 Posted 7 May 2009 I'm a unattached player, but i'm better with pooon them i am with any balls!!!
alex Posted 7 May 2009 Posted 7 May 2009 I'd take Carl Fletcher if he still has the talent he showed at West Ham. Which if he did, Palace would presumably not have let him go?
Jimmy Posted 7 May 2009 Posted 7 May 2009 Which if he did, Palace would presumably not have let him go? not 1st choice on high(ish) wages and Simon Jordan wants out
alex Posted 7 May 2009 Posted 7 May 2009 not 1st choice on high(ish) wages and Simon Jordan wants out And yet they offer Kuqi a new contract? Don't buy it personally.

Agree with this. We can look for bigger and better than cast offs. Especially Bristol City's.
Jimmy Posted 7 May 2009 Posted 7 May 2009 And yet they offer Kuqi a new contract? Don't buy it personally. just repeating a Palace fans post, apart from the Jordan bit, that's from an interview I saw him give to ssn a while back. Isn't Kuqi their top scorer?
DJ Barry Hammond Posted 7 May 2009 Posted 7 May 2009 I'd prefer this Carl Fletcher Look here he is getting signed by John gregory!
beemeroo Posted 7 May 2009 Posted 7 May 2009 We got Lloyd Dyer on a free. Geovanni was free for Hull.. Not saying all freebies will be gems but they don't necessarily all turn out to be rubbish.
flanimal Posted 7 May 2009 Posted 7 May 2009 I'd prefer this Carl Fletcher Look here he is getting signed by John gregory! Man, Dream Team was the shit. If we could only get Fletch and Dean Hocknell up front - though, last time I seen Hocknell he was being attacked by werewolves in Dog Soldiers... Anyway, free transfers - they are good. Think it's intelligent to get guy's who are out of contract, just got to pick the right ones - not money grabbers who are only worth a freebie!
