probably one of the worst signings made by leicester in my opinion, I wonder if it was Mandaric or Allen who wanted to sign him? anyway all i will say is promised a lot, only real attribute he owned was pace, offside virtually all the time and in the end showed a poor attitude to the rest of the team the season we got relgated and he wouldnt travel on the coach when asked by holloway, good ridance!!!

A close friend of DJ assures me the real truth was a lot less simplistic than that.

You should stick to EBay selling. DJ is a handful for any defence and it is just a shame that we've never used him properly and that our obsession with playing Fryatt has meant that he's never really been given a proper chance at Leicester.

Yes, I know Fryatt scored a bag full of goals to help earn us promotion from Division One but Campbell has shown he can score Championship goals in an ordinary side and I have serious doubts that Fryatt will do that.

I might be wrong. Pearson will presumably surround Fryatt with far better providers than he had under Kelly, Holloway etc. so I do expect some improvement but he doesn't have Campbell's pace and elusiveness so why our fans are so keen to see the back of him I've no idea.

It's no argument to say he doesn't want to play for us either. Anyone would be unhappy if they were perpetually overlooked as has been the case with Campbell. His reaction is perfectly natural.

That he'll go is a certainly and I hope we get the money the bloke is worth which is considerable. Ironic though that we need to use it on someone fast and elusive. Because our current front two - effective as they've been this season - are hardly the fastest.

Oh I see,

It was every other players fault that he couldnt stay on side and couldnt score?? DJ was so elusive that literally nobody else knew what he was doing (except the linesman of course! He usually had him sussed)

What are you on about?

Elvis was quick as well, were we wrong to get rid? Is Elvis better than Fryatt too then?

I think the "obsession" with playing Fryatt paid dividends

biased nonsense

oh for goodness sake give it up .

he didnt perform for the team and stopped getting picked.

you are starting to make yourself look silly again

Search for the thracian phrasebook thread and you will see that pace is quite simply the best attribute ever, it makes up for lack of touch, shot, even abilty

COLEMAN LAUGHS OFF CAMPBELL AND BECKFORD SPECULATION.

City boss jokes at speculation,

Coventry City manager Chris Coleman has laughed off speculation linking City to Leicester's DJ Campbell and Leeds United's Jermaine Beckford.

"I've heard these stories and yes, we're buying them all," said Coleman to the CT's Alan Poole.

"I don't want to comment on individuals because that wouldn't be right but we have made no secret that we are looking for a striker."

 Where is the joke and laughing then? :dunno:

I know i've posted the story but its all of a nothing story IMO, says nothing really, Coventry really need to work on their reporting and stories among many other things.

if they were richer and able to pay at least what we payed for him then i would send him to brentford. He did well there a few years back and it will stop him playing against us meaning he won't score against us.

Only attribute was pace? He seems to have scored regularly enough at Blackpool.

Poor attitude? I've not heard that Blackpool thin k he has a poor attitude. All I've heard is that they'd quite like to sign him.

Which suggests to me there might have been a reason for his supposed "attitude" at Leicester.

I have to say I met him a couple of times and he was friendly and charming. Didnt come across as arrogant at all.

Still dont want him here if he doesnt want to be here though

DJ was a Martin Allen signing. That's probably one of the few that we knew were his. I even called it weeks before DJ signed. DJ was majorly pissed off when Allen was sacked and has a good working relationship with him.

I've always rated him, but I think the key to DJ playing well, is that it needs to be on his terms under a manager that he wants to play for, which clearly will hardly ever work.

Ian Holloway has today announced that he 'won't give up' on signing DJ Campbell from Leicester City.

But the new manager is conceding that last season's loanee is highly unlikely to be plying his trade at Bloomfield Road next campaign.

Campbell scored nine goals in a four month spell by the seaside, which propelled The Seasiders away from the relegation zone.

And because of this hot scoring streak demand for the striker has been high - with QPR and Coventry heavily linked.

Blackpool though - in a bid seemingly orchestrated by Chairman Karl Oyston - have thought to have stolen a march on the rest, as a fee has been agreed.

However, despite the transfer fee apparently sorted, the player has seen his wages increase with The Foxes because of their promotion (despite not scoring a goal for them all season), and hence will want more money here.

That then becomes the problem, says Holloway.

'I know what his wages are now and they've gone up because they got promoted,' said the new gaffer.

He continuted: 'So in realistic terms is he going to be a permanent Blackpool player? I can't see us getting him in a million years to be honest - but never give up is my motto.

'He enjoyed it here and you never know. I wouldn't rule out trying for him.'

From the sound of reports, 'Pool have hit a brick wall in previous contract negotiations with Campbell, but are ready to keep trying.

It does however mean that Holloway needs to search for a replacement for the loan star. And what a replacement he must be to fill Campbell's boots.

So Dj will end up staying with us because his wages are even higher than they were before :dunno:

And theres no way he will get those wages at any other club :dunno:

Ive come in to read this article from sky sports news about campbell, this guy is an abslout joke, he was part of the team that got us relegated and hardly played for us last season and now he thinks he could stay because his pay has gone up. Im sorry but if he really regards himself as a footballer then why would he sacrifice first team football for money? just show`s him for what sort of a guy he is to all Leicester Fan`s I personally will celebrate the day we sell him!!!

Why are we looking to sell DJ Campbell? He's better than Fryatt, could easily get 30 a season for a Championship team. Top lad. We need to look for someone with true striking prowess such as the likes of Luciano Becchio or Robbie Fowler.

If I remember Becchio was Wayne Browns B*tch when Leeds came to the Walkers stadium.

Are you for real or what? I think your user name was mean`t to be Big Larry instead of barry, what evidence do you use to support the fact you think campbell could score 30 goals? For One he needs to learn the offside rule and his record of 9 goals in roughly 20 games i think doesn`t suggest to me he would score 30 goals. As for ur comments about fryatt, thats ur opinion but im willing to put my neck on the line and say he will get double figures for us in the championship this time around considering he actually has a half decent team around him unlike before.
