Notts County to be taken over.

This all makes complete sense. Who among us has not picked a crap club to manage from the bottom in FM? One or two of us might even have added a second manager and bought someone from said crap club for a few mill to give it a little financial boost. There you go Sven. Enjoy. The ultimate challenge (well the ultimate challange with the added bonus of a little cash to spend).

"I don't know League Two at all but I have discussed with Ian McParland what we need," he said.

"To start with we have to find good players, without good players we can't reach League One and the Championship and so on."

No sh*t Sherlock

Mmmm...a five year deal?!?!?

I predict that maximum 18 months in, Sven will depart by 'mutual consent' with Notts County to pick up the tab for the remainder of his contract.

The great thing about this, is that when County get in division 2/level with f****t, then f****ts support could start to dwindle, they could do a roll reverse.

"Champions League in 10 years"

Shhhhh! Don't give Milan ideas

Hahaha - Premier League in five years... You just gotta love that Swede.

In all honesty, I wish them well - see the "Soft Spot" thread for more info.

A few people (Dave Whelan, John Madejski and others) have played that game for real - very successfully in Whelan's case.

If Wigan can reach the top flight and stay there, there's no reason why Notts, with a far bigger tradition and history, can't do likewise.

Lee Hughes and Luke Rodgers signed allready.i'd have hughes if he didn't have the baggage.Don't know anything about Rodgers.

Getting a bit ugly now with an attempt to kick Nottingham's Rugby Club out a year before their contract ends.

Here

Not surprisingly, it doesn't seem to have worked

There are tales of NRFC having kicked out a small football team from a different ground in the past that are being used as a 'what goes around comes around' argument, but still, would've thought the new owners would realise the bad publicity this would create.

To be honest, they have a point about the playing surface, and if the Rugby club cannot support it's own ground, what exactly is going to happen in 12 months time?

I was told that Notts Rugby Club offered the Tigers £80k to stage their 16 home matches this season and the board were considering it. Apparently though it normally costs £15k to stage a Tigers match at Welford Rd.

This is more facinating then City i think!

Ritchie, Ravenhill, Davies, Rodgers and Hughes are the players they have bought and all are capable of playing in league one.

Notts have a good strike force. Hughes could play in the Championship while Rodgers is good at that level and did well with Shrewsbury.

Don't really know any of their playes but I hope they do well as I have always liked them.

The madness continues!!

Luis Figo and Patrick Vieira on Notts County hitlist as Sven Goran Eriksson targets stunning signings

Sven Goran Eriksson is poised to dip into his famous contacts book to pull off a stunning signing for League Two Notts County before the end of the transfer window.

Eriksson, made the club's director of football after a summer takeover, has been told money will be no object to get an A-list signing from Italy or Spain.

Luis Figo

His former Lazio player Pavel Nedved and Luis Figo are both being sounded out to see if they will make a U-turn on retirement and the clubwould also find the funds for Inter Milan's Patrick Vieira.

County want to make three high-profile signings in the next fortnight and have already offered ex-England defender Sol Campbell a mouthwatering offer to reject Premier League offers to move to Meadow Lane.

But the club's new Middle East owners, Munto Finance, also hope to sign a marquee name from Europe to show their ambition of reaching the Premier League is serious.

County were buoyed on Friday that they were able to persuade Peter Schmeichel's son, Kasper, to join them from Manchester City on a five-year deal.
