Joe. Posted 8 August 2009 Posted 8 August 2009 Weale 6 - I can't comment on the goal as I didn't see it, but from what I did see he was pretty solid. There wasn't a lot to do for him, but what he managed was done with little fuss. Morrison 7 - Aside from the occassional unnecessary hoofs, he was solid at right back. Hobbs 7 - Again, like Morrison, stuck to his task well enough and didn't look like getting beaten all afternoon. Brown 8 - What a guy. An absolute rock at the centre of defence, he was not going to allow anything past him today. And that foul? Heroic. Berner 8 - I was wrong. I had a feeling that he might get torn apart by Dyer/Gower today, but he was excellent both going forward and at the back. A great run to win the penalty, and was always there to tidy up at the back. Impressive. Oakley 6 - A very poor first half out wide forced Pearson into the decision to bring on the two substitutes. Second half he was much better alongside Wellens, doing what he does best by making things simple. Wellens 7.5 - A very good home debut. Looked strong, assured on the ball and always searching for a dangerous ball. He'll be a very good player for us this year. King 5 - Barely noticeable from what I can remember of the first half to be honest. He was always going to have to make way if Pearson decided to change things around, and I have a feeling he might find himself on the bench more than he'd like this season. Dyer 6.5 - Not bad at all from Lloyd, hooked up with Berner well for the whole match. I'd like if more if he was a bit more aggressive on the full-backs, as he still doesn't seem to have the confidence to try and beat his man. Crossing was poor. Howard 6 - A terrible penalty, which made you think it might just be one of those days. Aside from that he won most of what went his way, and I think he could form a decent partnership with Waghorn if that was the case this year. Fryatt 5 - Unfit. Rarely looked a goal threat, just too soon for him. He'll get there eventually. Subs: Waghorn 8 - I can't begin to explain how refreshing it is to see a striker with pace. Always willing to chase lost causes down, there's nothing to suggest his heart's not in this. Got his goal, and could have had another. A very promising debut. N'Guessan 8 - Like Waghorn, a massive impact on the game. He was getting dangerous crosses in regularly, all of which found a blue shirt. He's certainly got an eye for goal as well, as shown by the one he did manage. Let's hope for more of the same. Adams 7 - A player I've never rated, but in his short time on the pitch looked hugely impressive. I really hope we see a different Nicky Adams this year, as he could give us another option on the wing. Prove me wrong Nicky.
Bert Posted 8 August 2009 Posted 8 August 2009 Weale 6 - Nothing to do, really. Didn't stand much chance with the goal. Morrison 6 - Played well and stuck to his task, a few shaky moments in the first half though. Berner 7 - Very impressive, won us a penalty, supported the attack well and was really good at defending. Hobbs 7 - Casual performance from Hobbs, read the game well and wasn't going to lose his personal battle. Brown 7 - Exceptional defending and has a wonderful positional sense, such a shame he can't pass. Oakley 7 - Looked up for it more than most in the first half, and kept us ticking along in the second, played well with Wellens. Dyer 5.5 - Seemed to be playing too deep, with his back to goal, which then lead to him having too less time to do something or doing too much, worked hard as always, crossing poor, as always. King 5 - Not a good day for Mr King, after having a good season last year, too many people have been hyping him up, and after failing to produce today, many will be disappointed. Wellens 8 - Great capture by NP. Wellens range of passing and work-rate was fantastic today. Can play the simple, the classy and killer balls. Fryatt 5 - Not match fit, little effect. Howard 6 - Poor penalty, but his touch and awareness is fantastic. Has a massive presence too. Waghorn 8 - Exactly what we've been lacking. Exciting to watch, and very intelligent. Got lucky with his goal, but it was no more than he deserved after a fantastic display. N'Guessan 8 - With Waghorn he changed the game, always positive, never shirked out of anything, an eye for goal and tried to do what a winger should do, cross the ball, which were always in the mixer too. Adams 7 - Very positive, hard working and gave us a different option to Lloyd on the left.
Tommeh Posted 8 August 2009 Posted 8 August 2009 Weale - 7 kicking good, nothing much else to do.. Morrison - 7 - Very assured got forward well. Brown - 8 - (motm) everything as usual, fantastic foul 2nd half too. Hero. Hobbs - 6 - Well overshadowed by Brown looked less than comfortable 1st half. Berner - 8 - Twice the player of some overrated left back who seems to be netting us a great wod! Dyer - 7 - perked up 2nd half like most of the team. pace always big asset. Wellens - 8 - kept getting him mixed up with king...again great 2nd half after average 1st king - 6 Oakley - 6 Howard - 7 - penalty miss also overshadowed the usual great shift from steve. Fryatt - 5 N'Gassan - 8 Waghorn - Sorry but who is he and where'd he come from?? Anyone would have improved on Fryatt's 1st half show but this guy was immense, touch and turn amazing. Almost forgot Adams - His 10 minute spell was brilliant, different player. Extremely promising. Pearson - 9 - 2 subs, 2 goals, 3 points. Great start.
Daggers Posted 8 August 2009 Posted 8 August 2009 Weale 7 - Felt he was in command, great kicking, quickly out and an excellent rapport with the defence Morrison 7 - Looked good again, nice to see some piss-taking tricks although he was caught out of position twice Hobbs 7 - A good day at the office Brown 8 - I love Brown, always have done, he's a total unit and worked like a machine today Berner 8 - Berner played one game better than all of Mattock's last season. Good overlapping, good passing and excellent penalty win right in front of me Oakley 7 - Felt he had an acceptable first half, but a very good second one when he was allowed to take up the only position he will aquit himself in within this division Wellens 8.5 - My MOTM: A virtuoso performance. A heart of midfield pumping like this opens up a world of opportunities as long as it continues to beat King 5 - Poor half but there was something up with him apparently. Kingy is the Championship's Lampard. Dyer 7 - I thought he had a very good game throughout Howard 7 - Forgetting the aberration, did everything the Howard of last season did so well Fryatt 5 - Is he unfit? Really? I only ask because that was the Fryatt I remember from the Championship last time around and, despite Pearson saying otherwise, I reckon that was just his limitations shining through today. He's never had pace. Subs: Waghorn 7 - If I hear one more person say we should sign him up or how Rooneyesque he is I am going to spit. Good début with something to prove - let's see where he goes from here before going overboard N'Guessan 7 - Pretty much as above only without references to signing him or Shrek IV
Salieri Posted 8 August 2009 Posted 8 August 2009 Waghorn - Sorry but who is he and where'd he come from?? Anyone would have improved on Fryatt's 1st half show but this gut was immense, touch and turn amazing. Got some catching up to do Matty!
maddog Posted 8 August 2009 Posted 8 August 2009 Weale 6- Nothing to do, kicking was nice though. Morrison 7- Good effort put in but looks slightly dodgy at this level, but he's not a RB and it will be nice to see Nillsen in the side. Hobbs 8- Solid, won a lot of headers, played well. Brown 8- See Hobbs. Berner 9- MOTM, fook Mattock when we have Bruno, classy performance. Oakley 6- He's not a right winger so was shocking 1st half, improved in the centre though. King 1- I didn't even notice he was playing, i didn't see him have the ball once, he was like the invisible man today. Wellons 7- Looks a very tidy midfielder and is always looking for that killer pass Dyer 7- Good gritty performance, put in a lot of effort, but Adams could trouble him for his place. Fryatt 4- Crap, slow, unfit, shouldn't have played. Howard 5- Awful penalty, apart from that played decently, just needs to try and head it to our player. Subs: Waghorn 8- Fantastic start for the lad and looks twice the player of Fryatt already, quality. N'Guessan 8- Awesome, unlike Oakley he actually sticks to the wing giving us width and put in some very dangerous crosses. Adams 8- What a cameo for him, NP should be thinking about sta rting him next game, he looked firey, pacy, strong, and put some stunning crosses in. NP 7.5- Mistake to start Fryatt really but super subs from super NP saved us. Referee 8- Good referee, infact very good i thought.
Daggers Posted 8 August 2009 Posted 8 August 2009 Wellens 8 - Great capture by NP. Wellens range of passing and work-rate was fantastic today. Can play the simple, the classy and killer balls. Outside of the boot, second half, curling 30 yard inch-perfect ball to an on-rushing Dyer. Absolutely brilliant. I found myself standing to applaud so much of his play, especially in the second half when we kicked it up a gear.
RowlattsFox Posted 8 August 2009 Posted 8 August 2009 Weale - 7 - Did nothing wrong, but had little to do. Morrison -6- Gave ball away a lot first half but was solid defensively. Hobbs -7- As above but improved as game went on. Brown -7.5- Like most the team struggled with the ball first half but was immense defensively. Berner -7- Very solid, better than I expected. Oakley -7- Thought he looked lively even in first half but was good second when moved in the middle. Wellens -7- Thought he was a bit slow on the ball first half but always wanted it, very good 2nd half. King -5- Was he there? Dyer -6- Never seemed to run at anyone, improved after break. Howard -6- Won his fair share of headers, but only if they landed on his head, walked around a bit too much which doesn't give the right impression. Like everybody though improved after the break. Fryatt -5- Clearly not fit. Waghorn -8- Effort, pace, bite, lucky goal but desereved it. Very promising. N'Guessen -8- Did what Dyer didn't, ran at players and put some decent balls into box. Adams -7- Great little cameo.
Flynny Posted 8 August 2009 Posted 8 August 2009 Weale 7 - Better than Henderson by a long way, which is always a plus. Didn't look scared to come out of his box, looks solid. Morrison 6.5 - Okay, poor first half but a good second. Hobbs 7 - Did what he needed, played well. Brown 8 - Beast. Berner 7.5 - Reckon he almost certainly would have scored had we not got the penalty, good game. Oakley 7.5 - Decent first half, released by Wellens to wreak (relative) havoc in the second, great game. Wellens 8 - Great. King 5 - Anonymous, hope he gets it sorted. Dyer 6.5 - Average, good enough though. Howard 6.5 - Absolutely fine, good passing, shame about the penalty. Fryatt 5.5 - Not fit, surely? Waghorn 8 - Looked great, what else can I say? Full of running. N'Guessan 7.5 - Same I guess. Great work. Adams - 7 - Genuinely really good I thought.
eraserhead66 Posted 8 August 2009 Posted 8 August 2009 Weale - 7 Morrison - 7 Hobbs - 7 Brown - 7 Berner - 7 Oakley - 7 King - 5 Wellens - 8 Dyer - 6 Howard - 7 Fryatt - 5 Waghorn - 9 N'Guessan - 9 Adams - 8
Koke Posted 8 August 2009 Posted 8 August 2009 Outside of the boot, second half, curling 30 yard inch-perfect ball to an on-rushing Dyer. I saw that. That was immaculate and simply amazing, like. And I agree with the rest of your ratings.
Jimmy Posted 8 August 2009 Posted 8 August 2009 Weale 6 - no chance with the goal Morrison 6 - solid enough Hobbs 6 Brown 6 - would of been more if he'd nutted Nathan Dyer 1st half when he headed the ball out of play Berner 7 - solid 1st half better second Oakley 7 - was better alongside Wellens then on the wing King 6 - unlucky to be subbed could easily of been Oakley IMO Wellens 8 - superb vision hopefully much more to come Dyer 5 - if you can't use ur right foot stay on the bloody wing Fryatt 5 - plainly not match fit Howard 6 - could of been sent off I thought N'Guessan 7 Waghorn 7 - both changed the game with their injection of pace and effort Adams 7 - if only for that one-two with the corner flag
MikeyT Posted 8 August 2009 Posted 8 August 2009 Weale 6 - Nothing to do, really. Didn't stand much chance with the goal. Adams 7 - Very positive, hard working and gave us a different option to Lloyd on the left. Spot on. Totally agree with all that.
lou Posted 8 August 2009 Posted 8 August 2009 Weale 6 - Didnt do a lot wrong but wasnt too busy. Morrison 7. Steady Eddie didnt do much wrong either. Berner 8 - I thought this was one of his best performances for us so far and 2 fingers up to Mattock! Hobbs 7 - Looked calm and assured Brown 8 - I love this guy hes an animal! Distribution might not be the best but a good old fashioned defender! Showed a lot of restraint under a lot of diving from Lopez and Co. Oakley 6.5 - wasnt his best game for us but did ok Dyer 6.5 - as above really, tries really hard but crosses let him down a bit. King 6 - didnt look himself I thought. Huffing and puffing a bit and very red faced. Maybe wasnt feeling well? Im sure he'll come good. Wellens 9 (MOTM) Lovely passing and never stopped. I lke this bloke a lot. Fryatt 5 - Meh. Hope he is just unfit time will tell but didnt do much. Howard 7 - Didnt think he was as bad as the morons around me slating him. Yeah he missed a pen.. happens to the best of em. Still won just about everything. Seemed determined to knock someones head off Subs: Waghorn 8.5 - Confident lad and was not gonna let anyone get the better of him. Looked surprised when he scored Brilliant debut... lets see if it lasts! N'Guessan 8.5 - Inspired substitution absolutely changed the game and never stopped running. I think Im a little bit in love with him Adams 8 - Impressed me no end and not scared to get stuck in. Sprited performance and I hope to see a lot more of him
mmarkie Posted 8 August 2009 Posted 8 August 2009 Weale 6 - Didn't have to do much, no chance with the goal. Morrison 6 - Looked alright, bit shaky, hoofs it a bit too much for me, be good to get Neilson back. Hobbs 7 - Good performance, solid at the back, like Morrison, hoofs it too much. Brown 8 - Solid, he is an absolute beast. Berner 8 - Great performance from Bruno, who needs Mattock eh? Dived for the penalty though . Oakley 6 - Not that good in the first half, improved in the second. His set-pieces are alot better now. King 5 - Not impressed, didn't do much at all. Wellens 9 - MOTM, awesome performance. Some cracking balls, bit of a nutter though . Dyer 6 - Didn't think much to him, was alright though. Howard 7 - A good performance, rubbish penalty but he played well, won almost everything Fryatt 5 - Clearly not fit, although when he is back to full fitness, i'd still start Waghorn. SUBS Waghorn 8 - Fast, Tried really hard, lucky goal but he loved it . N'Guessan 7.5 - Good, ran at the full-backs and produced some good crosses, was unlucky with his header and lucky with his goal . Adams 7 - His one-two with the corner flag was brilliant, he should be pushing Dyer for that left wing spot.
Koke Posted 8 August 2009 Posted 8 August 2009 I hope Thracian was at the game. I genuinly miss his in depth player ratings.
DB11 Posted 8 August 2009 Posted 8 August 2009 Weale 6 Morrison 7 Hobbs 7 Brown 8 Berner 8 Oakley 6 Wellens 7 King 5 Dyer 6 Howard 6 Fryatt 5 Subs: Waghorn 8 N'Guessan 7 Adams 7
casablancas Posted 8 August 2009 Posted 8 August 2009 Weale 6.5 - Did what he had to do well, decent distribution. Morrison 7. Solid, has potential at this level Berner 8 - Joe...who??? Hobbs 7.5 - Solid and patient, great player and huge future Brown 8 - Animal!!! Does not give up and simply does not loose his 1 on 1's. Pretty good saving 'tackle' Oakley 6 - Not impressed me today, but hopefully form will come with fitness. Dyer 6 - Step up this season, Lets hope he maintains his confidence. still has the potential to scare defenders. King 6 - Same as Oakley really. Expecting big things this season I hope he can deliver. Wellens 8.5 - Excellent today, Sounds like he bossed the midfield and played some inspiring balls. Fryatt 5.5 - Hmmmm, Hoping its just lack of fitness and not a flashback to season before last. Howard 7 - Done what he always does, made a nuisance of himself and bullied their back line, Sh!te penalty though Stevie Super Subs: Waghorn 8 - Not gonna get carried away with this one, Great début absolutely full of running and intelligence. Lets see how he handles himself. N'Guessan 8.5 - Gonna cause trouble for 99% of the championship fullbacks. Aggressive, quick and likes to whip in a delivery. This pleases me immensely. Adams 8 - Looked like he had been playing as part of the team for years. Confident on the ball with skills to pay the bills. A solid performance. Big Nige!!! 9 - Risked it for a biscuit with his aggressive changes and they paid big. Crowd 9 - HEHEHE everyone who were there never seemed to lack voice!!!
Nick. Posted 8 August 2009 Posted 8 August 2009 Weale 6.5 - Had nearly nothing to do, didn't see his hand in the conceded goal. Kicking was nice though. Morrison 5 - On his first hald performance I would have given him a 4. Despite lots of effort, nothing seemed to work out for him. In the second half he linked up much better with N'Guessan and his game improved, so a 5 overall. Hobbs 7 - Did his job well. Brown 8 - Rock. Deserved the yellow card he got however, but apart from that he had a great game. Berner 8 - Best I've seen him play. I've no worries about Mattock leaving whatsoever with him in left back. Oakley 7 - Ran hard in the first half, no real product though. In the second half in a more central role he excelled imo. Created oppurtunities. Wellens 8 - Glimpses of quality but still looked to me as if he needed to gel slightly with the Leicester team to unless his full ability. King 5 - Anonymous. Dyer 6 - Average, lots of running to no real effect. Howard 6 - Good flick-ons but no Fryatt there to pick up on them. Fryatt 5 - Tried hard, but nothing came of it. Shouldn't have played in all honesty. Waghorn 8 - Classy. Ran and ran and ran to great effect. N'Guessan 8.5 - Helped Morrison out a huge amount on the Right Wing, his pace was a huge bonus in getting back. Challenged players, beat them and nearly scored a few times other than his goal... and what a leap for a relatively little guy for the header that bounced off the bar! Looks promising. Adams - 7 - Looked good in what we saw of him. Swansea team 4 - They needed to get a grip. slightest touch and they went flying across the pitch screaming in pain. I've never seen a team of players i dislike more. Fair play to the Swansea fans who provided great atmosphere for most of the game. NP 9 - A few half time changes and we were a totally different team when we came out after the break. Stunning team performance in the 2H. Overall, one of the most enjoyable games of football I've seen in a long time. A good team performance, a deserved win coming from behind, and what could be 3 (N'Guessan, Wellens, Waghorn) inspired signings by NP. However, we'll have to see if that is the case.
nuttytimmy Posted 8 August 2009 Posted 8 August 2009 Weale 6 - Fair display with decent distribution, but had little to do. Morrison 6 - Solid defensively but his passing was poor with a seemingly constant view to play the long ball. He isn't a right back. Hobbs 7 - Pillar at centre back. Brown 8 - MOTM - Heroic defending and tremendous work ethic. Surely will become a fans' favourite. Berner 7 - Great display from the Swiss in winning the penalty. Otherwise defended well and was not scared to push forward when required. Oakley 6 - Poor second half, not aided by Morrison, but showed more promise linking-up with Wellens in the middle. Wellens 8 - Good performance from the new man who seems to have an excellent eye for a fluid passing game. King 4 - Anonymous performance, needed to be substituted. Dyer 5 - Lacking confidence and hesitant: a poor performance from a usually exciting player. Howard 7 - The poor penalty aside, Howard had a great game: it was just a pity Fryatt and Dyer were unable to latch onto his determined passes. Fryatt 5 - Unfit, lacking sharpness... Fryatt's confidence is still there, but without the pace of Waghorn his place in the team could be in jeopardy. Waghorn 8 - Pacey, energetic, enthusiastic: could be the complete package. N'Guessan 8 - Changed the face of the game with his pace and forward play. Sterling performance. Adams 7 - Stepped up from last season's disappointment to play an excellent 10-15 minutes.
Daggers Posted 8 August 2009 Posted 8 August 2009 I saw that. That was immaculate and simply amazing, like. And I agree with the rest of your ratings. When I've finished with motorbikes I'm going to take up being gay - and then I am going to marry you.
David Guiza Posted 8 August 2009 Posted 8 August 2009 Weale 6 - Nothing else to do apart from the goal and he could'nt do anything with that Morrison 7 - Did what he needed to do Hobbs 7 - Solid Brown 7 - Solid Berner 7 - Good run for the penatly and both him and Morrisson did well enough on Dyer Oakley 7 - Was poor in the first half but looked good with Wellens King 6 - Was'nt his day Wellens 8 - Great passing and broke up play well Dyer 6 - Why was he playing as a centre mid for parts of the game? Fryatt 5 - Did nothing, unfitt Howard 6 - Played well, poor penalty though. N'Guessan 8- Got early crosses in to Howard and Waghorn which started the pressure Waghorn 8 - Ran there defence ragged second half. Adams 7 - Looked lively. And better then Dyer tbh.
AjcW Posted 8 August 2009 Posted 8 August 2009 Weale 7/10 Had nothing to do really, couldnt of stopped the header, that was down to the defenders. Morrison 5/10 Shocking first half, not much to do in the second, but he is out of position. Hobbs 6/10 Looked a little slow, he will develop fine as the season goes on though. Brown 7/10 Hard as Fucking nails, some really good solid tackles. Berner 8/10 Ten times the defensive quality of Joe Mushhhhh() Looked great going forward(second half) Oakley 7/10 He is a central midfielder, do not care what anyone says. A King 3/10 I hope his head isnt somewere else, maybe early season nerves. Wellens 7/10 Worked well with oakley in the second. L Dyer 7/10 Some lovely runs in the second. Fryatt 5/10 Rushed back way to soon, he'll be reet in a month. Howard 7/10 Won every header as always, worked well with Wagadona. Subs: Adams: The 15 minutes he got were extemely impressing, and with a super pre season to go with it he might just be a good option this year. 7/10 N'Guessan: Some good forward runs and a tidy finish. 7/10 Waghorn: Took his chance and ran all over the place with some clever control and nice passes(I went for the conserved opinion ) 8/10kin
Dames Posted 8 August 2009 Posted 8 August 2009 I wonder if the ratings will tempt Thrac back into posting. Hmm.
