StanSP Posted 25 August 2009 Posted 25 August 2009 came off the pitch in tears, having played after his dad was killed in a motorbike accident 2 days ago. Ah right. Yeah knew about his Dad. Just wondering what he did tonight after FT. Takes some guts to do that (play in those circumstances). Fair play to him.
AjcW Posted 25 August 2009 Posted 25 August 2009 came off the pitch in tears, having played after his dad was killed in a motorbike accident 2 days ago. That was basically what I was trying to summarise, just thought the outpouring and the passion he showed just summed up how sad this game was for so many different reasons.
Simi Posted 25 August 2009 Posted 25 August 2009 came off the pitch in tears, having played after his dad was killed in a motorbike accident 2 days ago. I know that, but it hardly summed the trouble on and off the pitch off. But as Alex said, he worded it wrong.
Suffolk_fox Posted 25 August 2009 Posted 25 August 2009 Amazing. After the scenes they've just shown on Sky Sports, they then have an advert for The Firm, glorifying violence. Go fooking figure, cos I give up!
stez Posted 25 August 2009 Posted 25 August 2009 That was basically what I was trying to summarise, just thought the outpouring and the passion he showed just summed up how sad this game was for so many different reasons. yeah, i didn't want to put words into his mouth in my first post, but he must've been so 'proud' by the actions of the twats tonight
lavrentis Posted 25 August 2009 Posted 25 August 2009 If anyones interested 606 phone ins all about it.

C-man Posted 25 August 2009 Posted 25 August 2009 But you shouldn't have to, that's the whole point!!Why the hell should families have to put up with the stupid actions of a thuggish minority. These are held in high esteem by twats like Danny Dyer. They should have their faces on the HD pictures that Sky took - lock them up for 5 years each. Absolute scum, makes me ashamed to be a football fan. Of course you shouldn't have to, but anyone with half a brain would know that it was going to kick off tonight. It's sad.
stez Posted 25 August 2009 Posted 25 August 2009 I know that, but it hardly summed the trouble on and off the pitch off.But as Alex said, he worded it wrong. i can only apologise.
Maybes Posted 25 August 2009 Posted 25 August 2009 Few of my mates at upton park tonight. They said it was madness outside the ground.
City Lad Posted 25 August 2009 Posted 25 August 2009 But you shouldn't have to, that's the whole point!!Why the hell should families have to put up with the stupid actions of a thuggish minority. These are held in high esteem by twats like Danny Dyer. They should have their faces on the HD pictures that Sky took - lock them up for 5 years each. Absolute scum, makes me ashamed to be a football fan. There was only one non-HD camara at the game for some reason. You'd have thought due to the interest and possible violence there would have been more.
Benji Posted 25 August 2009 Posted 25 August 2009 Just seen the clip of Collison coming off at the end, really moving. To think you've got Lescott crying not to play for Everton because his head isn't right for the game whereas this lad will have made his dad extremely proud.
Suffolk_fox Posted 25 August 2009 Posted 25 August 2009 What terrible stewarding at the game. There should have been riot police in the ground. As has been said, it didn't take a rocket scientist to realise there would be trouble tonight.

As has been said, it didn't take a rocket scientist to realise there would be trouble tonight. Correct. I mean we even had police blocking us from getting on the pitch at Southend !!
C-man Posted 25 August 2009 Posted 25 August 2009 I'm just listening to 606, and they're saying tickets should only have been made available to STHs. Are they too stupid to realise that that would have left every trouble seeking disabled outside the ground?
General Smuts Posted 25 August 2009 Posted 25 August 2009 I dont understand why people are so shocked by all of this violence. Did you not see Football Factory? My missus' sister in law went to the game with her boyfriend. This girl is so ridiculously naive it's unreal. Our lasses dad's not amused, as well he should be, why the fook would you let anyone you know go to this game when everyone knew there was going to be hella trouble. It's by no means on the same scale but i had to basically sneak to the Forest Leicester game the other year without my parents knowing because of the guarenteed violence. Ridic.
Ross-Kemp Posted 25 August 2009 Posted 25 August 2009 I don't blame the clubs, even if fans had been banned etc... it still would have kicked off. We have all the riot police at our home games (Brizzle rovers, Milwall, Swansea, even Watford the other season) but theres none in the ground at West ham v 'wall. Ridicioulus(sp?). Epic fail by the met tonight.
L.C.F.C. Posted 25 August 2009 Posted 25 August 2009 I'm not listening to the phone in, but they are probably implying that if only season ticket holders got tickets, there would have been no trouble INSIDE the ground. Season ticket holders have their details on file, and supposedly are less likely to cause trouble as it's easier to identify them, deprive them of their £400+ season ticket, and prosecute them. (That's all Supposedly though) I Don't think anything would have stopped trouble OUTSIDE the ground tonight.
C-man Posted 25 August 2009 Posted 25 August 2009 I also believe it's harsh to blame the police. I saw a news article early last season saying that it took the Metropolitan Police EIGHT weeks to plan Leeds' league visit to the New Den. In this case the police only had since the draw was made - 13 days ago.
RowlattsFox Posted 25 August 2009 Posted 25 August 2009 A lot of riot police were needed outside though, they can't be everywhere. As a steward myself. I can safely say I'd have been shitting myself if I worked at Upton Park tonight but then probably enjoying it.
C-man Posted 25 August 2009 Posted 25 August 2009 A Football Association spokesman said: "We absolutely condemn the disorder. "We expect all culprits to be banned from football for life - they have no place in our game." Nice to see that the F.A. will be taking a hard stance on the clubs. They have to punish them both with either points deductions or forcing them to play behind closed doors. We can't have the chance of this every time balls get drawn out of a hat.

The FA love West Ham though.
Ross-Kemp Posted 25 August 2009 Posted 25 August 2009 IMO, it would be harsh to punish millwall as bad as they should west ham. West 'am failed to control there supporters in the ground, 3 times ? they broke onto the playing field. But as Maybes said, the fa love west ham
Suffolk_fox Posted 25 August 2009 Posted 25 August 2009 The FA love West Ham though. I agree there Maybes - incredible how they survived over the Taves/Mascherano affair - I think any other club would have had points deducted, a transger embargo and sacrificing every fan's first born. But I do hope that the FA do come down really hard on BOTH clubs.
