Edmund Posted 25 August 2009 Posted 25 August 2009 I don't blame the clubs, even if fans had been banned etc... it still would have kicked off. We have all the riot police at our home games (Brizzle rovers, Milwall, Swansea, even Watford the other season) but theres none in the ground at West ham v 'wall. Ridicioulus(sp?). Epic fail by the met tonight. There was some in the ground. I saw them using there batons on ssn.

Samilktray Posted 25 August 2009 Posted 25 August 2009 I just find it sad that someone was prepared to stab another person over the football team they follow.
Ultra Posted 25 August 2009 Posted 25 August 2009 Chickens have come home to roost. Millwall have behaved like lowlife all year. They kicked off against us, against Leeds in the first leg of the playoffs and against Scunny at Wembley. Yet the league and the FA did jack, and remained in denial over their hooligan activities. There's no way they should have been allowed ANY tickets for the game. West Ham could easily have found ways and means to allocate tickets to their own fans only. Maybe a few hundred Millwall would have still travelled looking for a ruck, but plod should have been able to deal with that.
Tommeh Posted 26 August 2009 Posted 26 August 2009 Shit happens and it was always going to happen....It was every few weeks in the 70's now the reaction will be ridiculous.... 'Wall will get the book thrown at them when Judging by what I've just seen on SSN it was all Hammers in the ground. Stewarding and policing should also be looked at, fans scrapping with police 9 times out of 10 will be provoked by Jobsworth idiots looking for their kicks.
willchafer Posted 26 August 2009 Posted 26 August 2009 hang on didnt green street predict this nah but on a serious note it was very stupid i think we all knew it was going to happen poor policing and very poor stewards
DANGEROUS TIGER Posted 26 August 2009 Posted 26 August 2009 I don't blame the Met. at all, and believe they made the correct decision. It is easier to control the worst trouble on one front ( outside the ground ) than to have masses inside as well. This I believe was their thinking, and it ties up with similar measures implemented within my own force, at lower level. This was a pre planned act of criminal violence, and Millwall louts, have been purpetrating this mindless idiology ever since the sixties, when the bulk of their support came from the "dockers", and their families. It was a hell hole in those days. Sadly, with the demise of the docks, the problem has remained, and I for one cannot see it changing in the future. The name, Millwall, appears synonymous, with thugs, criminals, and the extreme right of politics. Throwing the club out of the Football League, would not be a bad move. I would feel sorry for the real fans, but would personally applaud such a move. West Ham, MAY, be found partially at fault on this occasion, I should also be severely dealt with by way of points deduction, if this is found to be the case. Every person who loves the game, should be safe from fear, and able to take family members with them.

Raj Posted 26 August 2009 Posted 26 August 2009 Not much is gonna stop mindless thugs from having a ruck. This would have had nowt to do with the footy, its just an excuse for "the firms' to try and put on over each other. Ideally they should get them all in a stadium(those who have 'organised' this ruck) and let them kick the shite out of each other.

Yeah, and have the footballers and some more spectactors watch the spectacle from the sides, with the mass brawl being broadcast live on TV. Anything but Big Brother. At least you'd get some real people hurting, bleeding and dying in front of the cameras, unlike so many other flat TV programs. And as long as they don't get the message about violence killing people, then you'd always have a fresh influx of thugs wanting to get a kick (or two) out of it. In that case, we're not too far off the Demolition Man scenario. Pfft.

With everyone thinking your "Up for it"!!
Shrenchel Posted 26 August 2009 Posted 26 August 2009 Didn't think it would kick off like that at all. Questions gotta be asked of the plod really. Some lads must have some very big bollocks as well, with the amount of ridiculously over-hyped media coverage this will get I'd imagine some of them are staring down a 3-5 in Wandsworth. Did you miss the bit when it was West Ham that invaded the pitch about 3 times you goon?! And I spose Millwall were outside punching themselves were they?

It was indeed the Hammers fans who kicked off trouble inside Upton Park. Can't tell who started the frenzy before and after the game, though.
Shrenchel Posted 26 August 2009 Posted 26 August 2009 Fvck me. Think I'm gunna have to avoid reading the paper and listening to the news for a bit, never heard so much shit talked by people that know nothing about football.
Darkzzz_ Posted 26 August 2009 Posted 26 August 2009 Millwall are no angels but it was clear to see judging by the news that is, that the West Ham fans were the ones who caused the most problems. I had to laugh at some of these clowns, prancing around on the pitch, do they not know we live in a CCTV state where their faces are not invisible any more. Very sad for the game indeed.

Kilworthfox Posted 26 August 2009 Posted 26 August 2009 WHU fans running on to the pitch throwing plastic bottles? SSN's coverage of this non event is pathetic, get some bloody sports news to report! If they are going to seriously report the events, can't they report the failings of the met rather than the nuisance fans, we already knew about them as did the met. This non event has been so over publicised, report on Port Vale they achieved something last night.
breadandcheese Posted 26 August 2009 Posted 26 August 2009 I don't know who started it last night, or who was more to blame out of West Ham or Millwall. Frankly, it doesn't matter, those involved should be banned from the game. Simple as. I'm interested to know the police's failing in all this. Obviously questions need to be asked, but what is it that they did differently to any other category 5 game? If it's going to kick off, it's very hard for the police to contain it safely, so why the accusations at London Met?
C-man Posted 26 August 2009 Posted 26 August 2009 Blaming the Police is the easy way out. The blame should lie at the fans door, 100%. Throwing West Ham out of the cup would be a start.
