MC Prussian Posted 21 May 2009 Posted 21 May 2009 I thought Mattock could play on the right as well and has done that a few times this season, too??? Sorry for the mishap should I be mistaken. What does that mean for the Gilbert case then?
Mickey O'Neil Posted 21 May 2009 Posted 21 May 2009 I hope he scores ten own goals and moons the Tynecastle crowd with "MON THE HIBEES" on one ass cheek and "UP THE BHOYS" on the other. Might have to watch the match on Sunday for more than 1 reason now. I'm keeping an open mind about this signing. I don't think Kissa turned out too bad in the end...so on that note, in Nige we trust
djedmundo Posted 21 May 2009 Posted 21 May 2009 I'm still waiting for this rumour to be confirmed. Would make sense signing a reliable, fighting right back, though.Mattock won't be too pleased with this announcement... isn't mattock a left back?? decent signing seems like he puts in 100%....just hope he's not another maybury!
Corky Posted 21 May 2009 Posted 21 May 2009 Might not be the end of Gilbert. He's our only real right-back now Edworthy has gone, so we could get both. However, can't see either being willing to sit on the bench for a long time, but you never know.
morris1234 Posted 21 May 2009 Posted 21 May 2009 It's concrete. Trust me. hey bert, any more news on other players seeing as youre like KIA 2
leicesterseddon Posted 21 May 2009 Posted 21 May 2009 Well those comments from the Hearts fans are hardly encouraging And the Championship will be a step up from the SPL. That league is poor beyond belief.
Jambofan Posted 21 May 2009 Posted 21 May 2009 Thank you Leicester Football Club A likeable guy who gives his all and wont shy away during games but his ability is limited. I'm sure you'll all grow to love his 'passes' up the line which fly into the stand and occur with alarming regularity. Has a MASSIVE throw in though. And cool hair
Bert Posted 21 May 2009 Posted 21 May 2009 hey bert, any more news on other players seeing as youre like KIA 2 Not as far as I know.
Fez of Mahrez Posted 21 May 2009 Posted 21 May 2009 Wow. This does come as a surprise to me.  Me too.  I pay very little attention these days to what fans say on da internetz when players leave clubs. Think what we said about DJ Campbell when he joined a club in a higher division. 9 goals in 19 games later and he's helped keep them up in a big way. A lot of it is down to confidence. To sign the captain of the biggest club outside of the Old Firm is pretty impressive on the whole, considering we've only just come up from the third tier. Fingers crossed he will get off to a good start and impress. He'll be first-choice right-back, no question. Can't see Gilbert signing now.
dandannieldanok Posted 21 May 2009 Posted 21 May 2009 Let's just hope he doesn't go the way of the last couple of signings from Hearts. I fully trust Pearson's judgment.

Most SPL clubs would only be medium-sized clubs in the Championship. Could be a diamond in the rough though.
Jambofan Posted 21 May 2009 Posted 21 May 2009 I pay very little attention these days to what fans say on da internetz when players leave clubs. I fully understand this and it does happen a lot. However if you browse our forums this isn't just people turning on him for leaving, he genuinely is an average player. We'll be able to replace him easily. He's only been our captain since January when Berra departed to Wolves and hadn't been offered a contract from us to extend his stay. Whether one was coming we'll never know now I guess.
RowlattsFox Posted 21 May 2009 Posted 21 May 2009 If we sign this guy and Gilbert then I reckon I'll be happy with that, until i see them play atleast. Gilbert has the potential, pace etc but prone to inconsistency and Neilson could prove the solidness when Gilbert is not on-form. I've never seen him play though so I'm just assuming he's going to be solid.
Milky Posted 21 May 2009 Posted 21 May 2009 They seem much more positive about him on 606 than that other forum.
Fez of Mahrez Posted 21 May 2009 Posted 21 May 2009 Unfortunately, that means very little. Most SPL clubs would only be medium-sized clubs in the Championship. So how many captains of Championship clubs will we be signing this summer? We have no right to belittle teams that are playing in Europe next season, given that our aim is just to prove ourselves in the Championship again.
Alexikokopops Posted 21 May 2009 Posted 21 May 2009 Me too.  Cheers for the update <_<
Arthur Rowley Posted 21 May 2009 Posted 21 May 2009 I trust Pearson's judgement, I think the guy will be a big signing as he does have that bit of mongrel in him, but I hope he uses it outside the penalty area. A very good signing IMO. Gilbert hasn't set our club on fire since joining has he?

The Europa League? Sounds like a gay bar. I say that, but we'd all want to play in it. No I take your point - although I don't think we should make too much of the captaincy thing (as the Hearts fan said, he hasn't been captain for long).
mja Posted 21 May 2009 Posted 21 May 2009 I'm a Hearts fan, based in Leicester, had a season ticket at the walkers 07/08. I'd agree with the opinions that have been expressed so far, he's a trier, solid, if one paced (not as bad a Nills tho!), not all that on the ball, but has a Delap-esque throw. For a while, a throw was as good as a corner for the Hearts. I wouldn't expect him to set the heather on fire at this level, nor be a let down- judging from what I've seen at the walkers over the last couple of seasons, once he settles in, he'll be a solid sddition to the squad, and much better than alot of the dross that has pulled on a city shirt over the last few years. He'll forever be remembered by many Jambo's for a last gasp tackle in the cup final. Personally, I'm sad to see him go, but much of that was because he was one that always played for the Jersey, and in recent times at Tynecastle, such stalwarts are what have been lacking amongst a bunch of dodgy imports.
Little Nicky Posted 21 May 2009 Posted 21 May 2009 Quality signing that in my opinion at championship level! Are we going to become the new Stoke?
Mark Posted 21 May 2009 Posted 21 May 2009 Hope he's alot better than the previous 5 we signed from them...
