davieG Posted 22 May 2009 Posted 22 May 2009 From the reports from up north. It sounds like we have signed gary coatsworth! My thoughts as well.
kirkwood Posted 22 May 2009 Posted 22 May 2009 Rather than make assumptions about him why not tune in to the Celtic v Hearts game on T.V. this weekend (Setanta Sports 2 @ 13.00). He will be up against a "good un" in Aiden Mcgeady so lets see how he gets on
billyfox1 Posted 22 May 2009 Posted 22 May 2009 Sounds like a good signing. The quotes from the hearts fans are a bit concerning though. Only time will tell
davieG Posted 22 May 2009 Posted 22 May 2009 I can see him scoring on his debut. I can see him scar/scaring (someone) on his début!
James. Posted 22 May 2009 Posted 22 May 2009 He'll average 6.5 out of 10. He'll work hard, get a few uncouth assists Delap style, give the ball away now and again and Thracian will moan about his lack of attacking presence. Solid, pretty dependable, bit boring but will do a job. Sounds alright to me.

Munzie Posted 22 May 2009 Posted 22 May 2009 Like others, I'm underwhelmed about this signing. Then again, I was underwhelmed when we bought in Pearson and that lads done alright for himself.

gambo Posted 22 May 2009 Posted 22 May 2009 He'll work hard, get a few uncouth assists Delap style, give the ball away now and again and Thracian will moan about his lack of attacking presence. "He will work hard" - check "a few assist Delap style" - uncheck - in 6years of his long throw, i think twice it has maybe resulted in a goal. "moan" - check, i will give you his first 45mins before you are banging your heads and talking about Ishman(?) League standard "lack of attacking presence" - check, i can only remember his goal in Basel (great memories) and very very few assists. Robbie Neilson though he will try, is not your bursting up the wing and creating openings type of full back. For all that i do note rate him, i honestly do wish him the best, hope he settles down there and genuinley hope he is a success for you. He is a model professional, we at Hearts have had our on field and off field problems over the last few years, yet Robbie kept his mouth shut, head down and tried his heart out every week. Even when Pressley/Hartley/Gordon hijacked a press conference to speak out against the regime, Robbie as a senior pro in the team did not take part in that episode.
Ric Flair Posted 22 May 2009 Posted 22 May 2009 It might just be me, but as soon as i'd seen we'd signed Neilson it's made me think the N'Guessan deal is almost done too. Pearson knows that Gradel and N'Guessan are very much attacking wingers and although Maxi has worked very hard on his defensive game, N'Guessan is not known for his tracking back, so a full back who is good defensively but doesn't get forward is probably on Pearson's radar. I'll reserve judgement. Maybury came here with a glowing reference and other than his first season here, he hardly covered himself in gold. I like triers though and i'll give him a fair crack. Welcome Robbie.
Bert Posted 22 May 2009 Posted 22 May 2009 Couple of good points there Ric. Let's not give him a hard time until he actually deserves one!
Basingstoke Fox Posted 22 May 2009 Posted 22 May 2009 I really like the comment about only signing players who will genuinely want to play for LCFC. No more old lazy ****s draining all our money through the wage bill.
C-man Posted 22 May 2009 Posted 22 May 2009 To be honest, I think it's an ambitious signing. He might be the type of player that has got Burnley to the play-offs this year. By that, I mean he looks like Graham Alexander.
Babylon Posted 22 May 2009 Posted 22 May 2009 Couple of good points there Ric. Let's not give him a hard time until he actually deserves one! Plus he might not even be first choice... who says we won't get another right back. We only have him on the books currently.
Babylon Posted 22 May 2009 Posted 22 May 2009 "I am also keen to highlight that we are continuing our policy of only signing players who genuinely want to play for Leicester City Football Club and Robbie certainly fits that criteria." Is that a little 'piss off' to Cox and N'Guessan?
Alexikokopops Posted 22 May 2009 Posted 22 May 2009 Don't mock! Hearts are the only British club to get a competitve European win in Basel, Liverpool and Man Utd have failed to do this! He wasn't mocking, Alexei is Swiss From the reports from up north. It sounds like we have signed gary coatsworth! He has the scruffiness of Ian Marshall and the ability of Gary Coatsworth. I think this is the greatest player we've ever signed.
Jimmy Posted 22 May 2009 Posted 22 May 2009 "I am also keen to highlight that we are continuing our policy of only signing players who genuinely want to play for Leicester City Football Club and Robbie certainly fits that criteria."Is that a little 'piss off' to Cox and N'Guessan? think it might be more Pearson getting in his excuses if we don't sign them
shen Posted 22 May 2009 Posted 22 May 2009 How dependable and consistent is Neilson, Jambos? Is he prone to mistakes (apart from giving the ball away with long aimless punts), like being caught out of position, slow turn of pace, mistimed or clumsy tackles etc.?
Munzie Posted 22 May 2009 Posted 22 May 2009 "I am also keen to highlight that we are continuing our policy of only signing players who genuinely want to play for Leicester City Football Club and Robbie certainly fits that criteria."Is that a little 'piss off' to Cox and N'Guessan? That's how I read it. And may be a warning shot to some of our hangers on - DJ Campbell
