Fez of Mahrez Posted 22 May 2009 Posted 22 May 2009 Hopefully Gilbert will be back on loan, we need two right backs. With the way Morrison performed at the end of the season and O'Neill coming through the ranks, I'd be surprised if we signed another right-back who would be expecting to be first-choice.
Tommeh Posted 22 May 2009 Posted 22 May 2009 What? Who? Where? If this guy contributes even half of what MDV did Nigel has pulled off a major coup.

I know... I did think that, it was more out of hope than anything. The thought of one defence minded defender plus an attacking minded defender appealed.

The thought of one defence minded defender plus an attacking minded defender appealed. Nice thought indeed. Could argue we have that on the left with Berner and Mattock, possibly. I think the main thing now is beefing up the central midfield so we can compete in the middle of the park. Far more physical in the Championship and less time on the ball so Oakley and King won't have it as easy. And a nippy striker. And two goalkeepers. Still plenty to do then!
Lichfieldfox. Posted 22 May 2009 Posted 22 May 2009 Sounds like an ok squad player but nothing special. What does concern me is the 3 year deal on OS write-up. Seems way too long for an average Joe. He'll do a job but I can't see him being better than either Stearman or James Chambers from the excellent input from the Jambo's on here
jamboken Posted 22 May 2009 Posted 22 May 2009 if any foxes fancy a laugh and have some spare time why not take a gander at this classic thread from Hearts fan site Jamboskickback. This was started after Robbie's "display" the other week. It's entertaining stuff, which is more than can be said for Neilson! http://www.hmfckickback.co.uk/showthread.php?t=50362 P.S. you should be able to view that as a guest.

To be fair there are as many sticking up for him as there are slagging him off. I'll reserve judgement until November.
bluebeau Posted 22 May 2009 Posted 22 May 2009 Yeah fine but everyone knows that all good teams need at least 2 quality outfield throwers on the pitch. Long throws mean we can minimise our passing and focus instead on simply throwing the ball into the net, thereby scoring goals and winning games. You can't score a goal from a throw in without a player touching the ball before it goes into the net. Rory De Lap threw the ball directly into the net a couple of weeks ago ( can't remember who Stoke were playing), but the ref dissallowed it...no goal.
jonw88 Posted 22 May 2009 Posted 22 May 2009 Let's hope he's not Nielsen in disguise, there aren't any casino's in Leicester are there?
AyewJoking Posted 22 May 2009 Posted 22 May 2009 Just hope he is better than Gilbert. Also the fact that he was at Hearts for 13 years of his career and he rejected them for us means that he has quite a determination to play for a team like us, and I like it. Maybe he's just fed up of playing in a league where the highest possible finish is third.
jamboken Posted 22 May 2009 Posted 22 May 2009 Maybe he's just fed up of playing in a league where the highest possible finish is third. he finished 2nd with Hearts in 2006. basically he was out of contract and Hearts didn't want to renew it, probably more from a financial perspective than anything else. We need to save money and getting Robbie of the wage bill and replacing him with a youth player will do that.
Finnegan Posted 22 May 2009 Posted 22 May 2009 Er a few pages too late but can I just say we posting FM screenshots as evidence of his abilities is a little far. I appreciate the occasional gag about being good on FM as an ironic stab at people who take the game too seriously ( ) but that's a wee bit far.
Raj Posted 22 May 2009 Posted 22 May 2009 Hope he's better than most players we sign from North of the Border...and hope he dont get injured on hs last game for Hearts!!!
Uncle Albert Posted 22 May 2009 Posted 22 May 2009 Never heard of him until today. Hopefully he can settle in well and have a storming season with us, rather it was Stearman signing though. <_<
Joe. Posted 22 May 2009 Posted 22 May 2009 So, a typical LCFC goal next season: Neilson throw > Howard > Goal. Easy.
MarkDeVries Posted 22 May 2009 Posted 22 May 2009 Sounds quite good, only problem is if he doesn't adjust to the championship, or if he's shite. In Pearson We Trust
Carlos9 Posted 22 May 2009 Posted 22 May 2009 So, a typical LCFC goal next season:Neilson throw > Howard > Goal. Easy. Sounds good t' me.
bikerjambo Posted 22 May 2009 Posted 22 May 2009 I hope he scores ten own goals and moons the Tynecastle crowd with "MON THE HIBEES" on one ass cheek and "UP THE BHOYS" on the other. I think you'll find that Sundays game is at the "Gary Glitter Bowl" and not Tynie, and do you realise the relevance of "UP THE BHOYS" at that particular stadium? Anyway, a thread on Kickback at the moment has a poll that gives an option of "Good captain and good player" which has votes of 58.7% of the poll. I think he'll be missed but can see his point of wanting/needing a new challenge in his career. A decent dependable player who will give his all but he really shouldn't be given time to think, thats when things can go wrong ie. more than 1 option available to him. Best of luck Robbie.
Edmund Posted 22 May 2009 Posted 22 May 2009 can I just say we posting FM screenshots as evidence of his abilities is a little far. Where are these screenshots? Like it or leave it but fm is always a good indicator to a players abilities. Obviously it's not accurate but they do highlight players strengths and weaknesses.
Alexikokopops Posted 22 May 2009 Posted 22 May 2009 What? Who? Where? If this guy contributes even half of what MDV did Nigel has pulled off a major coup. He's pretty much crackedi t already Tommeh me lad He has the scruffiness of Ian Marshall and the ability of Gary Coatsworth. I think this is the greatest player we've ever signed.
maddog Posted 22 May 2009 Posted 22 May 2009 Maybury wasn't that bad.De Vries on the other hand... Was playing fantastically under MA and could have turned out to be a great player. But MA getting sacked virtually ended the Leicester careers of De Vries and Dj.
Guest Posted 22 May 2009 Posted 22 May 2009 Where are these screenshots?Like it or leave it but fm is always a good indicator to a players abilities. Obviously it's not accurate but they do highlight players strengths and weaknesses. You're either joking. Or you're a twat.
Fox92 Posted 22 May 2009 Posted 22 May 2009 Dont know much about him and hopefully he will be a great signing. Would of liked someone from the English leagues because Scottish football is obviousley different to the English football and he hasn't played in England before. The end of Gilbert then - is he not coming back now? Anyway, lets hope he is better than our previous signings from Hearts in Maybury and De Vries ecspecially. However, 'in Nige we trust' and hopefully he will be a great signing.
