Red Leicester Posted 21 May 2009 Posted 21 May 2009 I prefer my signings to come with a fanfare, velvet curtains and vol-au-vents.
Matt Posted 21 May 2009 Posted 21 May 2009 Well from previous signings I trust Pearson, but i'm always weary of sweaty sock signings, and especially when they have played in the sweaty socks leagues, even if they have been brilliant in there league, let alone dodgy opinion from sweaty socks. But i've never heard of him, never seen him play, so i'll judge when i've seen him.
tartanowl Posted 21 May 2009 Posted 21 May 2009 Not sure if any of you had picked up on it but my name tartanowl is down to Scottish roots. I have seen Robbie play a number of times and I'm friendly with a lot of Jambos so I was very interested by this signing. The Hearts boys are not being bitter they are dead on with what they say. Defensively he is solid but he is very much lacking with the ball at his feet. Good defender with a very long throw but don't expect a player who will be putting quality into the box.
Finnegan Posted 21 May 2009 Posted 21 May 2009 I thought you was making a joke bout Valdes cos IOWF had made a boo-boo about the team. Well yes and no. IOWF made his boo-boo but I didn't notice his mistake. With that grainy picture and with a dark haired goalkeeper I assumed it was Valdes making a terrible attempt at a save. Let's be fair it wouldn't be his first. He's erratic at best.
Basingstoke Fox Posted 21 May 2009 Posted 21 May 2009 Long Throws 20Work Rate 19 Nat Fitness 18 Stamina 17 Team work, decisions and Tackling 16 Valued at 1.3m in 2012 Well you asked. Fooking hell thats not bad!
Joe. Posted 21 May 2009 Posted 21 May 2009 I'm distinctly underwhelmed by this on first impression to be honest.
Bryn Posted 21 May 2009 Posted 21 May 2009 Solid signing, methinks we won't spend too much time fretting about the right back spot. Let's be honest, we're not gonna attract a Dani Alves at this level. He'll be part of the fixtures, won't be talked about much except for when he Delap's it up I reckon.
Wycombe Fox Posted 21 May 2009 Posted 21 May 2009 I thought you was making a joke bout Valdes cos IOWF had made a boo-boo about the team. I never made a boo-boo. It was a joke to see if any of you were still awake
lildave3 Posted 21 May 2009 Posted 21 May 2009 He's actually quite good on FM. He is. I've signed him a few times I think That's not neccesarily a good thing though!
J.Lisemore Posted 21 May 2009 Posted 21 May 2009 This guy reminds me of Graham Alexander for some reason.
Stueyt74 Posted 21 May 2009 Posted 21 May 2009 He's actually quite good on FM. Well I guess that's everything then.
Jimmy Posted 22 May 2009 Posted 22 May 2009 solid enough but Id rather have Bruno Aguiar or Andrew Driver
dan_84 Posted 22 May 2009 Posted 22 May 2009 could i just remind everyone thats so far slagging him... 1, We dont have a right back at the club with Gilbert at Arsenal and Edworthy being released, so he has got to be better than nothing. 2, We'v signed him on a free anyway so he's not exactly an expensive risk. What have we got to lose by giving him a chance even if it ends up as cover.
Alexikokopops Posted 22 May 2009 Posted 22 May 2009 This guy reminds me of Graham Alexander for some reason. He doesn't like like a complete skag addict like Alexander
FleckneyFox Posted 22 May 2009 Posted 22 May 2009 I reckon he'll be decent, looks like we're going to have plenty of leaders in the side next season. If you go on the Hearts 606 theyve left some friendlier comments on there - one poster saying he is better than Maybury and Kisnorbo. Hope we still get Gilbert though as we still need 2 right backs and then that would be defence sorted.
jamboken Posted 22 May 2009 Posted 22 May 2009 Yes, his only professional goal up to this day... out of all clubs against Swiss giants FC Basel... Don't mock! Hearts are the only British club to get a competitve European win in Basel, Liverpool and Man Utd have failed to do this! as a Hearts fan I thought I'd register and give Leicester fans my thoughts on your apparent latest signing: the London Hearts SC link about Robbie that has already been posted is a fair assesment, http://www.londonhearts.com/robbie.htm , Robbie is a very average player. This is not sour grapes at a player that is leaving, this has been the established position of most Hearts fans for as long as Robbie has been around - and some would be a lot harsher on him! As the link says, he is a model professional, and will give his all every game, but he does lack skill and he is pretty much useless going forward. Very one paced and very one dimensional with the same long ball hoofed up the wing every time. If you're looking for a decent defensive player that will be a model pro and give their all every time he turns out then this is your man, but don't expect anything special. Neilson is decidedly average and, if I'm honest, is the least talented regular right-back at the club in my 20+ years watching them. I'm genuinely surprised that Leicester are interested/have signed him as be is very basic. His long throw is a threat, and he has the odd moment of genius - his tackle in the recent Scottish FA cup final for one - but generally he is an average player that will be easily replaced from the youth ranks. I wish him and Leicester City all the best, especially as he has always done right by us and I can't fault the guy as a person, I just can't honestly say that I expect him to do well here. any questions re. Robbie, feel free to ask.
gambo Posted 22 May 2009 Posted 22 May 2009 As a Hearts fan, can i ask you if you have scouts? If so you really have to have a serious word with your Scottish scout. Robbie Neilson will give you 100% effort every game, of that there is no doubt, but when it is 100% of crap you will see what i mean. We gave Robbie (a very likeable chap it has to be said) a testimonial last year (we give testimonials for 5-6years in the first team ) and honestly his highlights package of those 6years was the goal in Basle and one tackle(a good one at that) in the cup-final. For those of you who will be sitting in the stands on the side of the pitch that Robbie will play in, beware, you will see plenty of the ball, Robbie consistently every game when under no pressure will attempt a ball up the line and proceed to slice it straight into the stands. Robbie has very very limited footballing ability, his second touch is always a tackle, but he has a heart of gold, i do not and never have rated him as a football player, but i wish him well with LCFC. PS. He has a throw to match the boy at Stoke. he is only 5ft 9 so probably not the best in the air And even worse on the ground.
teblin Posted 22 May 2009 Posted 22 May 2009 From the reports from up north. It sounds like we have signed gary coatsworth!
Leicfox Posted 22 May 2009 Posted 22 May 2009 Ive not seen much of Neilsen but it seems like he's a player thats been playing for the jersey at Hearts over the last god knows how many years rather than for the money. If he comes here and does the same, id be happy with the signing. We've had to many player here, thats rode on the back of LCFC for the money and couldn't have given a shit about the club.
