Bert Posted 27 September 2009 Posted 27 September 2009 I'd like to see - Weale Morrison Hobbs Tunch Berner Oakley Wellens King Gallagher Fryatt Kermorgant. I know that won't be the team, but I just think that playing away with Gallagher in the hole will enable to us to play on the break a bit better, and also we'll have 3 central midfielders in place to try and boss the midfield. I think it's time Howard had a rest because Kermorgant looked more useful than him yesterday, and could be a secret weapon.
James. Posted 27 September 2009 Posted 27 September 2009 Quite like that team, as long as Berner and Morrison can provide some width.

Maybes Posted 27 September 2009 Posted 27 September 2009 I definitely agree with bringing in Yanny K for Howard as he has had his time now, not been impressed with him this season. Same as you with dropping Brown as he is really starting to piss me off with his sometimes calamastus (sp) way and poor distribution. Not sure what I'd do with the midfield to be honest.
Fez of Mahrez Posted 27 September 2009 Posted 27 September 2009 Weale Morrison Hobbs Berner McGivernGallagher Oakley Wellens WaghornFryatt Kermorgant Why not? You only live once.
David Guiza Posted 27 September 2009 Posted 27 September 2009 I'd agree with Bert but i wouldn't be suprised with the same XI apart from maybe Adams or Dyer for N'Guessan.
MPH Posted 27 September 2009 Posted 27 September 2009 Weale Morrison Hobbs Berner McGivernGallagher Oakley Wellens WaghornFryatt Kermorgant Why not? You only live once. that smacks of a megson reversal with the strikers on the wings...
RowlattsFox Posted 27 September 2009 Posted 27 September 2009 I think that if we play the narrow midfield our full backs could be badly exposed, Adam Johnson will run rings round the full backs, we need to double up on him if we can. But I'm not convinced by any of our wingers at the minute so don't know which ones to choose. Howard needs to be 'rested', although Kermogant looked ok yesterday its probably too soon to start him. Gallagher and Fryatt up front for is worth a go. Maybe try having Berner and McGivern on left hand side, I know we've tried this kind of thing before with Mattock and Sheehan but I think Berner could do a job on the left side of midfield. Thats a bit negative but our wingers are so inconsistent or ineffective currently Weale Morrison Hobbs Tunchev McGivern Adams Oakley Wellens Berner Gallagher Fryatt
Fez of Mahrez Posted 27 September 2009 Posted 27 September 2009 that smacks of a megson reversal with the strikers on the wings... Well Gallagher's already played there for the majority of his time with us so far and Waghorn looks more of a winger than a striker to me. And I'll take that description as a compliment anyway.
Chairman of the Bored Posted 27 September 2009 Posted 27 September 2009 Defo think Hobbs should be back alongside Tunch. Brown away with the fairies at the moment. Thought Kermogant looked ok when he came but need to see him over a few matches to judge properly. Wellens looked out of sorts after not training so might be time to give Kingy a run out for Boro?
Salieri Posted 27 September 2009 Posted 27 September 2009 Lets face it, we can speculate all we like but i'd be very surprised if there's any changes. If Wellens is passed fit, it'll probably be same again. I hope i'm wrong.
Jimmy Posted 27 September 2009 Posted 27 September 2009 for 4-3-1-2 Weale Morrison Hobbs Tunchev McGivernWellens Berner KingGallagherFryatt Kermorgant for 4-4-2 Weale Morrison Hobbs Tunchev BernerAdams King Wellens GradelKermorgant Fryatt
Webbo Posted 27 September 2009 Posted 27 September 2009 for 4-3-1-2 Weale Morrison Hobbs Tunchev McGivernWellens Berner KingGallagherFryatt Kermorgant That formation could work with Berner as the holding midfielder but I'd still pick Neilson over Morrison. Also I don't think Kermorgant done enough to start, though I would like to see him come on for longer than yesterday. EDIT; I've just noticed, I'd play Oakley over King as well.
clazkel Posted 27 September 2009 Posted 27 September 2009 I would like to see a balanced team, i would go for: Weale Morrison Hobbs Tunch BernerAdams Oakley Wellens DyerFryatt Gallagher
Lillehamring Posted 27 September 2009 Posted 27 September 2009 it seems to me, and obviously a lot of others based on the post match thread, that since gallagher turned up we've deteriorated... so screw it all, i want a return to when we looked half decent - 442.... weale neilson - hobbs - tunch - berner/mcgivernoakley - wellens - king - adams (or adams oakley wellens berner)fryatt - gallagher/yann

I'm not one of Howard's bum boys. If he's playing well, it should be him and Fryatt starting, but he just isn't doing anything at the minute so he should be dropped, and we have 3 other strikers who want to play, and in glimpses have shown what they can do. I know Kermorgant won't start, but that's what I'd like to see.
Webbo Posted 27 September 2009 Posted 27 September 2009 that sort of talk is how we got relegated, howard is not working - even bert's admitting that now! You're assuming that Kermogant will. He only played for 10 minutes that's not long enough to judge we don't have time to trial replacements over the next three or four games... We're ninth and it's still not October. It's not like we're facing imminent relegation. if pearson thinks he is good enough to play, then he needs to have the balls to drop howard and stop playing gallagher on the wing or in an ineffective 4312 formation, which has worked for about half an hour in one game.... What if Pearson thinks Howard is good enough to play?
StanSP Posted 27 September 2009 Posted 27 September 2009 Howard will probably start. And it might not be a bad thing. You all want him to get his first goal and he ain't gonna do that on the bench. I think 4-3-3 would be a good approach. Fryatt/Howard/Gallagher upfront. Oakley/Wellens/Adams in the middle. If it's not working drop Gally back in the hole in between strikers and attackers. And if that don't work, well, then i don't know !
marbelladave Posted 28 September 2009 Posted 28 September 2009 Oh dear! It's going all pear shaped and nobody has the faintest idea what to do about it to stop the wheels coming off! It's not about the individual players, I see that last months favourite is consigned to the scrap heap along with Neilson, King and the rest. This is a complete nonsense, how on earth has Brown gone from being lauded as our best player (in some quarters) a couple of weeks ago to being the scapegoat now? Work that out and you might be on the way to working out what is beginning to go so badly wrong. We need to identify what we are trying to achieve against Boro, pick a side accordingly and send them out with a clear plan and hopefully a few options. Loose again and we could drop into the lower half and with our confidence falling apart we could be in deep poo.
FantasticMrFuchs Posted 28 September 2009 Posted 28 September 2009 I think we come unstuck as we are weak on the left wing and weak at right back. Chris Weale - Good keeper thus far Robbie Neilson - hmmmmm Jack Hobbs - over hyped Aleksandar Tunchev - Deserves his own song Bruno Berner - 100% solid gold week in week out Nicky Adams - Really don't know why he is not getting his chance,in the middle Matt Oakley - Played better on the right last season and think it would work well with adams in the middle Richie Wellens - shows signs of greatness.....but not consistent enough Paul Gallagher - Not going to set the world alight really mediocre at best, want him to get his chance as a striker and prove me wrong Matt Fryatt - foooked without him atm, would see better from him if his strike partner was sharing the burden Substitutes : Andy King Lloyd Dyer - one trick pony Conrad Logan Maxi Gradel Martyn Waghorn Yann Kermorgant - could he be the answer?? Michael Morrison
