The table is still really tight. A bit like the top 8 in the Premier League. If Tottenham and Man City can join the big four party and remain consistent, with Villa and Everton on the outskirts it could be a very interesting PL season. Sunderland aren't doing bad either.

I'll tell you what it is - A decent management team being left to do what they do best and a good bit of homework. Phil Scolari Steve Walsh is well known for his scouting abilities and has some good contacts which are massive bonus for us, and something that we've not had since MON. The backroom staff are top draw.

MPH Posted 29 September 2009 Posted 29 September 2009 Right here.No chance of getting to the game tonight, so realistically I can not comment on individual performances. From what I heard, we did not create very much and were pretty lucky to get any points, let alone all three, so I do not have any great reason to change my views. They were not formed after one awful display so neither will they be changed after one great result! What I will say is that we appeared to play with a conviction and determination that has, at times this season, been entirely absent so I am really pleased with the performance! A lot of my posts have been about our collective failure as a team but the confidence and conviction displayed tonight was of a very high order, and we played well enough to control large parts of the game, even if we did score against the run of play. Credit to everyone responsible for that!..... :appl: :w00t: thats more like it! Alot of people probably think it was too soon in a new season a division higher to be forming such negative opinions. ya know... give the players time to find their feet, ect?

Recent results indicated a low form, a lack of energy and some edgy tactics and substitutions had me cautious, but the squad went out with a solid gameplan tonight and stuck to it. Also, well done to all Leicester fans who once more made a long trip up North on a grim Tuesday night.

Thracian Posted 30 September 2009 Posted 30 September 2009 As uninspired as Pearson was against Preston he was a man possessed tonight. And how his delight showed when he waved his appreciation to the equally passionate travelling City fans afterwards. Pearson didn't shirk in his response to Saturday's dismal display. Out went Neilson, Tunchev, Wellens, N'Guessan and Howard for various reasons and in came Morrison, Hobbs, King, Kermorgant and Dyer. With no walking wounded, a genuine fulcrum in King, the tough-marking no nonsense of our most effective back four and the injection of Dyer's pace we won ugly but justifiably thanks particularly to Dyer doing what he does best in plundering a goal on the counter-attack and Weale making a couple of vital saves at just the right time. City's great achievement apart from walking away with three precious points was restricting Middlesbrough to no serious chances in the first half and only one 15-minute spell of goal-threatening pressure towards the end of the second half. For that time Boro surged forward but still the City defence held firm and restricted the home side to fairly speculative strikes from outside the box, the best of which was brilliantly palmed to safety by Weale with one outstretched hand down near the foot of his right-hand post. It was by far his best and most vital save for City so far and by no means his only important contribution. Weale apart it was not a night for individuals but for a return to combative professionalism and a genuine work ethic in every department. We didn't forge many chances but we did share possession for all but Boro's purple patch as Pearson clearly set on a classic smash and grab raid. Boro's recent Premiership pedigree was only apparent in their fitness, their organisation and the speed witrh which they closed us down. Yet City never looked the poor relations. Instead, the gaping holes which have appeared alarmingly in the centre of our defence were tightly sealed, partly by the resolve of the Hobbs/Brown partnership but also by the ever-responsible positional play and so-simple prompting of King in front of them. City for the most part shadowed every Boro player everywhere giving none of them time, space nor any sort of peace on the approach to goal. Leicester's industry gained it's just reward about 8 minutes from time when Dyer quickly latched onto a chance which emerged from a mini flourish of quick counter-attacks and did what's been so missing in our team of late, he hit the target when his one chance arose and gleefully saw the net bulge despite the goalkeeper so nearly making a save. If was the joyful end to a cracking day out. City's travelling faithful - particularly those at the back of the stand, had sang themselves literally hoarse in their determination to lift their team in a stadium that would otherwise have reflected the background hum of a rest room rather than the intense passion of a committed home crowd. Altogether such a memorable outing and a job well done.

I thought that they did quite well for a Tuesday night Anyway, just got back. I thought we played quite. Was great to see Pearson make the changes - those same that changes a lot of fans were calling for. It could have back-fired but we came away with the win. I do think we were quite lucky, numerous brown trouser moments but a job well done.

Honestly couldn't be more stoked with the 3 points tonight, I'll do proper ratings after I've had some sleep but Dyer, Morro, Weale and Berner were all quality tonight.
