Daggers Posted 13 November 2009 Posted 13 November 2009 Bless Walsall getting all excited about their cut Unfortunately he spent their cut on pies two seasons ago.
jonthefox Posted 13 November 2009 Posted 13 November 2009 cant see it. he was around to witness the mattock backlash remember.
Jimmy Posted 14 November 2009 Posted 14 November 2009 Miller plus 2m would do fixed! tbh anything over £3m and I'd sell for all his goals he still wastes a hell of a lot of chances (all his 1-on-1 misses for instance and would be quite easily replaceable, given the same amount of opportunities (and I can't believe I'm saying this) I think Campbell or Dickov (Derby fan at work says now he's fit he's looking VERY sharp) would score as many goals, if not more then Fryatt

Pearson sees him every day in training and clearly thinks he's no. 1. Fryatt is totally unappreciated by a disturbing number of our fans. So what if he misses some one-on-ones? The only reason he gets so many chances is that he is always in the right position. It is Fryatt's movement that creates the chances as much as anybody else's pass or cross. There's a reason Fryatt gets 2-3 chances a game and the whole team manages approximately the same amount. Fryatt is the third top scorer in the league, playing in a team which doesn't have a particularly attacking vent (it's not like Cardiff, who are very attacking and have the only two players with more goals than Fryatt). Fact is, we're a championship side, and no championship forward takes every chance they get. Hell, Fernando Torres doesn't take every chance he gets. We've got a real gem on our hands and so many people don't realise it. Fryatt may not be big or quick, but he has a magnificent first touch, fantastic work rate and seriously good football brain. Our fans give him too much of a hard time - I'm sure at least 20 of the other teams in the league would want him

Bryn Posted 15 November 2009 Posted 15 November 2009 What the fook at the idea that Fryatt is anything other than the best goalscorer this team has and has had for a long time
Fox You Forest Posted 15 November 2009 Posted 15 November 2009 where is knowitall when you need him? Need him for what?
lcfc_jme Posted 15 November 2009 Posted 15 November 2009 Fryatt won't be going anywhere in January. He's a demi-God and if we're anywhere near the playoffs, let alone within touching distance of the automatic promotion places a la at the moment, even Mad Mandy won't let him go. I would summise that we need another striker that can hit the net on a regular basis to support Matthew, not that we need to let our current best striker go, even if I'm not his biggest fan.

Jimmy Posted 15 November 2009 Posted 15 November 2009 Fryatt has had ONE good season in his time here, that doesn't make him a good player, for the fee I said we could get a replacement just as good with money to spare, he is being over-hyped by the media fans on here are too happy to believe it, his awareness is poor and quite often he just puts his head down and runs into blind alleys or takes too many touches and loses the ball. the other strikers are playing a supporting role to Fryatt atm, if he weren't there then they would play his roll and I personally feel 1 or 2 of them would be more composed/decisive then Fryatt often is
ACF Posted 15 November 2009 Posted 15 November 2009 But who would we get in replacement. Waghorn and ________?
FilboFox Posted 15 November 2009 Posted 15 November 2009 He's said in a newspaper he's not going anywhere... can't remember which one but I was shopping at Morrisons the other day and I remember seeing it as a headline.

lcfc_jme Posted 15 November 2009 Posted 15 November 2009 Not that it matters 'cos nobody will change their opinions on Marmite regardless, but he should not be missing as many 1-on-1s or guilt-edged chances as he does. For somebody of his supposed and apparent finishing ability, the amount he does miss is both shocking and unforgivable. Sooner or later they're the kinds of chances that'll cost us games and points, an ultimately league position. They only seem to be being glossed over and swept under the carpet at the minute because he manages to score one soon after.. Just wait until the goals dry up for a bit..

Name me a striker that never misses. His goals to games ratio this season is again excellent and has proved many doubters wrong. It is a shame that people still question him.

Andy Cole infamously 'needed 7 or 8 chances to score', but holds the record for most goals in a Premier League season. If he was so shit at scoring, and it was easy to get into the positions to get the chances, maybe somebody else would have scored about 150 goals that season for Newcastle? The fact is, striking is not just about finishing. That said, if the ball fell in the six yard box to anybody in our team in the last minute of a play-off final, would you want it to be to anyone other than Matty Fryatt? We CAN'T replace what he has for £2.5 million or even any money. We're not a big enough club to attract a better striker than Fryatt at the moment so why sell?
breadandcheese Posted 15 November 2009 Posted 15 November 2009 He is our best striker, but every player has his price. Too often, we seem to turn down bids for young players, only to end up selling them for less a year or two later (Stearman, Mattock). I don't want to see Matty go, but if we got a bid of £3mill+, we'd have to seriously consider it. Is there anything actually behind this story or is it just paper talk?
Guest Posted 15 November 2009 Posted 15 November 2009 cant see it. he was around to witness the mattock backlash remember. To be honest, I can't see Fryatt engineering a move away, and neither can I see him bad mouthing City if he was to leave us. I would like to think that Fryatt has more intelligence and respect than Mattock.
