Who do you want in Jan?

LB for Rochdale, saw him when they played Luton in the replay of the F.A Cup the other day, looked a VERY talented youngster who can cross it better than... anyone in our team, he can take corners and free-kicks so I think he'd be a good signing.

Tom Kennedy? ala Scum to Bury fans for his Mattock-esque move on a free.

You failed to mention his mistake for Luton's goal however where his failure to use his weak foot gave the ball away. That said if Jones in the centre of the park for them was five years younger, he'd be a signing and half alongside Wellens. Dale have some real good young lads like Buckley too.

Still think David Perkins who is on loan at Chesterfield and plays for Colly U could do a real job for us in terms of squad support.

ie. Vela...now RVP's injured, no chance of him going on loan anywhere. The only way we'd sign Cleverley is on a permanent deal and it's pretty clear, Yanited see him in their future...more chance of signing Fulop.

As my insight in the Championship transfer market is somehow limited, my perspective comes from closer to the Hight North. And bear with me for the slightly self indulgent manner here.

Would certainly be nice to see some faces from my own backyard playing for Leicester. Problem is though, Norwegian clubs tend to expect too high

transfer fees these days, even though many clubs struggle financially. I also find it highly unlikely that Pearson is looking for players from over here. Besides,

most of the hottest transfer objects would probably find clubs from the top level in France, the Netherlands or Germany more attractive, although

the Championship offers both higher crowds and bigger salaries than the Norwegian Premiership.

IMO the Championship clubs fighting for promotion are probably as good or even better than many top Norwegian sides, maybe with the exception of

Rosenborg, and the prospect of playing in the Premier League is off course a huge thing for any Norseman. Similarities between Norwegian and English football is the high tempo and the physical toughness, so most of our players should have few problems fitting in.

Almost needless to say, players of this caliber (by Norwegian standards anyway) certainly has to be convinced that the club is aiming very clearly for promotion. That said, the most exciting players I find somehow likely going to City would be:

Tom Høgli (Tromsø I.L.) - Born 1984. Quick and hard fighting right side back with good basic technical skills and smartness. Has established himself as a regular first choice for Norway over the last year, now having 10 caps or so. Would outshine a player like Neilson both attacking and defending.

Vegard Forren (Molde F.K.) - Born 1988. Tall, fast, clever and brave central defender with good passing abilities. More creative and technically apt than any of Citys defenders. No caps yet, but is getting close. Could easily see him play next to Hangeland in a few years. Currently being linked with FC Copenhagen, and has declined interest from German clubs, due to the language and culture barrier.

Tore Reginiussen (Tromsø I.L.) - Born 1986. Cool, strong and commanding central defender. Has declared that he wants to leave his club to play abroad, and is available on a free transfer in not too long. Has four caps for Norway, and has been linked with clubs as Fulham, Blackburn, Everton and Schalke 04. However, he seems so keen on getting to another country that smaller clubs than that would be interesting for him.

Jo Inge Berget (Udinese) - Born 1990. Attacking CM / forward. Signed for Udinese in the summer of 2008 as a future prospect, and was later loaned by his old club FC Lyn Oslo for the entire following season. Has said that he wants to leave Italy and was close so signing for Molde F.K. recently. Rated as one of the biggest talents we have, with technical skills and vision that far exceeds most of his peers. Was on trial with Portsmouth at the age of 17, and has occasionally impressed internationally at different youth levels.

I´d spend my money on Høgli though, as I think he would make the biggest improvement compared to the current squad.

To get a perspective, some of the last few Norwegian players who were sold to foreign clubs were Alexander Tettey (Rosenborg - Stade Rennais FC for 3-4 mill. pounds), Torstein Helstad (S.K. Brann - Le Mans for 1,5 mill. pounds), Fredrik Strømstad (I.K. Start - Le Mans for under 1 mill. pounds) and Tarik Elyounoussi (Fredrikstad F.K. to Heerenveen for 3.5 mill. pounds).

By reading the thread it seems we all agree the areas where we need strengthening, right back and centre midfield/wing.

Either loan or buy, these are a few names I've come up with:

Vladimir Wiess (Man City) - Obviously more likely to be loan, very highly rated, not really sure what sort of midfielder he is but already as international caps for Slovakia.

Micheal Tonge (Stoke) - Not getting much of a look in at Stoke, but was a decent player couple of seasons ago.

Kyle Naughton (Tottenham) - Ambitious probably.

Adam Lallana (Southampton) - Always impressed me when I've seen him, could play at higher level.

Owen Garvan (Ipswich) - Could be too similar to what we already have but decent player and out of favour at Ipswich.

Nicky Bailey (Charlton) - Goalscoring midfielder, Charlton won't want to sell though.

Also worth enquiring about Robert Koren if he's available, probably wouldn't come but worth an enquiry.

And Lallana :P

worth it, seems like an attacking midfield player to me and really we need centre mids, all we've got is kingy, oakley and wellens, if one of them gets a long term injury then we're pretty much screwed.

I think one of these would be good, Vladimir Weiss would be god in the Championship but doesn't he get on Man City's bench?

We definately require goals from the midfield so Bailey, Garvan and McCann would be my options.

Wes Hoolahan - Norwich City

Would give us some pace and good crossing from the left. Has alot of quality, should be higher than league 1.

Peter Halmosi - Hull City

Same as above.. but better

Nick Carle - Crystal Palace (Think that's his name)

Creative midfielder, i have been an admirer for some time now and I think we could get him in.

Nathan Dyer - Swansea City

Great little player, can do something special. Impressed me for the last few seasons and did against us earlier in the season, would be a great buy if we could pull it off.

For me after watching the Raeding game their two midfielders caught my eye. The first being Jobi McAnuff and Marek Matejovsky both looked dangerous, I am sure they would make a move to City

Jobi mcAnuff Yes please!!!! Linford christie, not a bad player either!

John-Joe O'Toole.

Didn't do a lot at Sheff U last season - now at Colchester.

Halmosi and Gilbert would be good shouts. Gradel's return from the West Yorkshire wastelands would be welcome too.
