samjohnson Posted 30 November 2009 Posted 30 November 2009 Martyn Waghorn admits he would be more than happy to extend his loan at Leicester until the end of the season. The Sunderland striker has featured mainly off the bench for the Foxes this term having joined in the summer. The 19-year-old is expected to return to Wearside in January but Waghorn states that if the opportunity arose he would be willing to stay on for a further four months. Black Cats manager Steve Bruce is said to be keeping a close eye on the striker's exploits at the Walkers Stadium and could want Waghorn, who netted his fourth goal of the season on Saturday, as cover for Darren Bent, Kenwyne Jones and Fraizer Campbell. "It would be a wrench to leave as long as I'm enjoying it," he told the Daily Mirror. "I don't know what is happening at the minute, but I would definitely be happy to stay. I like the club and enjoy being with the lads. "So I don't see why I wouldn't stay if the chance was there." Leicester were held to a 1-1 draw against S****horpe at the weekend and lost ground on the top two as a result but although Waghorn admits the Foxes have been lacking goals recently he highlighted that at least the team were creating chances. "We should have scored a few more goals," he added. "They weren't ready to deal with us and we were getting in all over the place. "We're not scoring as many as we'd like, but we are creating chances - and some team is really going to get it sooner or later." http://footytweets.com/leicester_city/news/191566
Joe. Posted 30 November 2009 Posted 30 November 2009 I think Sunderland should be happy enough to let us keep him for a bit. I'm sure Bruce would rather have him playing first team football at a good standard with us than floating around the squad up there. Hope we keep hold of him for a bit anyway, really like the guy.
StanSP Posted 30 November 2009 Posted 30 November 2009 Hope the Fulop scenario doesn't occur again. Seems like a good player to have at the club and would definitely like to see him stay here.

Nick Posted 30 November 2009 Posted 30 November 2009 Sign the kid up, he's hungry, skilful, young and passionate..... that's how I like em.
outfoxed77 Posted 30 November 2009 Posted 30 November 2009 Sign the kid up, he's hungry, skilful, young and passionate..... that's how I like em. I love that last comment, one day someones really going to get it. Superb.
Fox92 Posted 30 November 2009 Posted 30 November 2009 Sign him up then if he wants to stay. He is fast, his close control is excellent, he can finish and he gets stuck in. I love him.
Heart-Shaped Fox Posted 30 November 2009 Posted 30 November 2009 Great signing by NP would love it if he stayed. Glad he plays from the start now.
Candidcamera Posted 30 November 2009 Posted 30 November 2009 Yes, please. A great prospect who will be a pleasure to see develop at Leicester.
sam_lcfc Posted 30 November 2009 Posted 30 November 2009 I'm not sure Sunderland will want to let him go permanently, but would love it if he stayed for the season. I think the only way we would sign him is if we go up....
Darkzzz_ Posted 30 November 2009 Posted 30 November 2009 Sign the kid up, he's hungry, skilful, young and passionate..... that's how I like em. Same here.
Guest Mee-9 Posted 30 November 2009 Posted 30 November 2009 Personally i think he'd cost us 1.5m ? Anyone else?
Simi Posted 30 November 2009 Posted 30 November 2009 One of the brightest prospects in England, Fraizer Campbell, is hardly getting a look in at the moment so a similar scenario to Fulop occurring is really unlikely. I like our chances of extending his loan.
Ozwin Posted 30 November 2009 Posted 30 November 2009 Personally i think he'd cost us 1.5m ? Anyone else? I think that's a steal tbh.
Guest ttfn Posted 30 November 2009 Posted 30 November 2009 There's not a chance in hell of us signing him permanently. He's 19 and playing frequently at the top of the Championship now. No reason to suspect he won't be in a yo-yo side like Sunderland within the next 18 months.

I really do think we need more of a physical presence up front that Waghorn and Fryatt and so would maybe use the 1.5m to put in a cheeky bid of 1.5m and Gradel for Beckford.... And yes, i know im dreaming.
Miquel The Work Geordie Posted 30 November 2009 Posted 30 November 2009 Hopefully the people that judged his signing before he even played a single minute for us are all now sucking their own cocks (or vaginas).
easilee Posted 1 December 2009 Posted 1 December 2009 Would totally part with 1.5m for Waghorn, especially when you take into account DJ Campbell's pricetag. Dunno about parting with fryatt though. As long as he's trying hard and is always on the hunt for a goal i'm happy, because then it's just a numbers game. The more chances he has, the more he'll score. Really think there could be something in the formation we adopted for the first half of scunny match, except i would have had Waghorn and Howard up front, and Fryatt just behind them.

Nah Kermit, Waggy and Fryatt up top, with King, Oakley and Wellens behind them is the future.

davieG Posted 1 December 2009 Posted 1 December 2009 From the Merc Sunderland boss Steve Bruce wants striker Martyn Waghorn back in January, according to reports in the north east. Bruce has been impressed with the performances of Waghorn, who is on loan at Leicester City from the Black Cats until January, and may decide he is ready to be included in his Premier League squad. Sources in Sunderland say Bruce is set to off-load David Healy, Roy O'Donovan and Daryl Murphy during the transfer window. And he believes Waghorn is ready to provide competition for his in-favour strikers Darren Bent, Kenwyne Jones and Fraizer Campbell. Sunderland have had all of Waghorn's games for City watched and Bruce has been impressed with the way the 19-year-old has forced his way into Nigel Pearson's starting line-up ahead of the likes of Steve Howard and DJ Campbell. If Bruce does decide to bring Waghorn back to his native north east it will be a major blow to City boss Pearson, who is hoping to extend Waghorn's loan period until the end of the season. Waghorn has scored four goals in five starts and 12 substitute appearances, and has repeatedly stated he is enjoying his stay with City. He has admitted he would be happy to remain with City until the end of the season if the two clubs can agree. However, if the reports are correct, it looks as though his time with City could soon be up.

Bruce needs to offload Healy, O'Donovan and Murphy for Waggy to be fourth choice striker at Sunderland and therefore make it worth their while bringing him back. Bent and Jones are so far into that side that even Campbell would do well to get into it, and he has more experience than Waghorn. Martyn will be here till the end of the season I imagine and probably beyond if Sunderland are selling players.

I hope your correct Bilo my chum, Waghorn offers alot to the team, it would be a shame to lose him. If these reports are correct, I doubt SUnderland will want to sell him either!!!
dandannieldanok Posted 1 December 2009 Posted 1 December 2009 Shame if he goes, he's made a decent impact here.
