Joe. Posted 4 March 2009 Posted 4 March 2009 Rafa's outbursts have not cost Liverpool the title. It's the exposure that their squad contains a horrible lack of depth and quality that's done it. I was optimistic for them at the start of the season, but now I can't even see them grabbing 2nd off Chelsea.
Flynny Posted 4 March 2009 Posted 4 March 2009 Rafa's outbursts have not cost Liverpool the title. It's the exposure that their squad contains a horrible lack of depth and quality that's done it. I was optimistic for them at the start of the season, but now I can't even see them grabbing 2nd off Chelsea. That. They're also hamstrung by having about half the money of United and internal power struggles. It's a wonder they were competing in some ways. On top of that, Rafa isn't really a manager you'd say is talented for getting the most out of his players. A few poor buys every season doesn't help - if he saved up the money he spent on poor bit-parters he could have bought a couple of extra big-hitters. In the summer they need to get rid of some of the dross off the wage bill and hope to get some money in for them - they have a lot of mediocre players. This money should be spent on a couple of proven players. If they're going to challenge for the title next season, it'll be with a thin squad but an exceptional 16, which they're still a few players off having.
eye666 Posted 5 March 2009 Posted 5 March 2009 Did anyone see that Rafa interview where he blamed Liverpool being so far behind Man Ure on Torres being injured? I couldn't believe it. Football is a team game Rafa... they have a pretty poor squad when you look at them. Not a bad first team but missing a couple of players in key postions - wingers anyone? And they need another striker or 2. I hate Liverpool and hope they go on a shocking run, ending with them finishing fifth behind Villa and Arsenal. That and Newcastle getting relegated would be a top season!
Uncle Albert Posted 5 March 2009 Posted 5 March 2009 Liverpool are vile. Well that was original wasnt it? Flid.
Tevez Posted 5 March 2009 Posted 5 March 2009 XAVI ALONSO MOMO SISSOKO GERRARD AND MASCHERANOOOOOOOOOOOOO OH OH OH WE GOT THE BEST MIDFIELD IN THE WORLD
martyn Posted 5 March 2009 Posted 5 March 2009 Good job Xabi Alonso didn't go to Arsenal, else they'd be struggling i reckon. Agree with the poster who said they need a couple more big hitters, much like Arsenal need. A bit of David Silva or Franck Ribery would have been perfect.
Filbert_Ross Posted 10 March 2009 Posted 10 March 2009 get this thread back to the top. come on Real Madrid!!! stick ya respect Rafa!!!
Samilktray Posted 10 March 2009 Posted 10 March 2009 Hopefully they go out to bring there season to a trophyless end.
dandannieldanok Posted 10 March 2009 Posted 10 March 2009 Want them to go out, but I can't see it, especially after Real's performance in the first leg. Need some Raul magic tonight.
MC Prussian Posted 10 March 2009 Posted 10 March 2009 Now what? Why this Liverpool hatred - I can see why they're facing that reaction in the league, but - c'mon - if they do well in Europe it's only going to help the English UEFA ranking in the end. That and I just don't like Real Madrid. Vile.
Filbert_Ross Posted 11 March 2009 Posted 11 March 2009 hats off to liverpool, switched over to chelsea when liverpool went 2-0 up. couldnt bare watching the rest of the match.
Lillehamring Posted 11 March 2009 Posted 11 March 2009 liverpool were awesome last night...they made real look like cheltenham... cassilas kept the score respectful, he was the one bright spark for them amongst a bunch of sulky petulant wankers. liverpool's performance was the best i have seen in the CL for years.
BoneDog Posted 11 March 2009 Posted 11 March 2009 Great result for the mighty reds last night. Just need the mancs to go out tonight to make it a perfect midweek of European football.

StanSP Posted 14 March 2009 Posted 14 March 2009 Fabulous away win today. Great team effort, as well as playing against a poor defence (on the day). Vidic didn't help either having a nightmare. Is it enough to dislodge Man Utd though?
Phube Posted 14 March 2009 Posted 14 March 2009 Is it enough to dislodge Man Utd though? In a word.... No...
