stivesfox Posted 20 January 2010 Posted 20 January 2010 A friend of mine works in the Birmingham City Academy and says Leicester have enquired about Marcus Bent as he has returned from Loan and is surplus to requirements they are discussing till end of season loan. Experienced player could be worth a punt, competition apparantley from Leeds and Derby. The Johnson deal has cooled due to him returning from injury and not fully fit. Pearson has enquired also about the centre back Taylor same terms loan till end of season.

Hmmm last time Marcus played for us we were relegated. 31 yrs old now..... not sure about this one... may be another Dickov on the wage bill surplus to requirements?
Sir Fynwy Posted 20 January 2010 Posted 20 January 2010 He doesn't score any goals, is always out on loan and backed out on signing for us after his lack of goals (and others) got us relegated. Please don't do it Nigel.
Leicester Rule! Posted 20 January 2010 Posted 20 January 2010 My next door neighbours, friends, cousins, step dad works at Leicester and denied this.
teblin Posted 20 January 2010 Posted 20 January 2010 Always liked marcus bent, big strong and mobile I think he is the kind of striker we lack. Whether there is anything in this rumour we'll have to wait and see I guess
Jimothy Posted 20 January 2010 Posted 20 January 2010 I don't think Marcus Bent solely got us relegated, might have had something to do with the shite team we had. The last time we had Fryatt, Howard, Oakley, and King in the team, we went down to League One, now they are part of the team that taken us to play-off challengers in the Championship. So not really getting the point about not signing him because he was part of a relegation team. I like Bent. Like others have said, he's mobile and strong. The ball seems to stick to him as well, I remember he very rarely gave the ball away or got it nicked off him in a tackle. He's the kind of striker we need right now. Don't really care about his goal record, his ability to hold the ball up and actually keep it and his running into the channels will help the midfield get more involved in attacks. At the moment all we do is launch it to Howard and he flicks it on in the vague direction of Fryatt, and the the ball comes straight back.
suffolk fox Posted 20 January 2010 Posted 20 January 2010 Scored a cracker with his head if I recall in the last minute against Everton at the Walkers! The same day that poor chap got killed walking to the ground in all them high winds!
surrifox Posted 20 January 2010 Posted 20 January 2010 there are other clubs than Birmingham - we should also consider non-W.Midlands clubs' rejects
Daggers Posted 20 January 2010 Posted 20 January 2010 When I told Mandaric to 'get bent' I wasn't being literal
lcfc_jme Posted 20 January 2010 Posted 20 January 2010 Definitely the kind of prolific goalscorer we need to boost our "goals-for" total. Definitely.

Sir Fynwy Posted 20 January 2010 Posted 20 January 2010 Definitely the kind of prolific goalscorer we need to boost our "goals-for" total. Definitely. Exactly my point, we need a goal scorer not someone to hold onto the ball, we've got so many players who try to walk the ball into the net. I don't care that he didn't sign for us just pointing out he's a mercenary and not a particularly good one.
Heart-Shaped Fox Posted 20 January 2010 Posted 20 January 2010 Whats all this shite about him not scoring enough got us relegated? Ferdiand, Dickov and Bent all had a good season that year, and scoring want a problem it was shit defenders like Curtis not realisng the game lasts unti lthe final whistle.

Well look on the bright side... he can hardly score less then our array of prolific strikers...

ramboacdc Posted 20 January 2010 Posted 20 January 2010 why doesnt pearson just recall the 2 strikers he has out on loan that are scoring and train them up a bit better? surely getting in yet another striker (no offence to bent, i loved him at his time at leicester) would be a bit redundant

DJ Barry Hammond Posted 20 January 2010 Posted 20 January 2010 Since when has Birmingham become our feeder club? Wouldn't mind if they passed some young talented hungry players, but it seems we just take the old and past it ones. Much rather have Darren Bent, but not likely to happen is it really - the signing doesn't inspire me, much like the Taylor one - I don't see it as a significant improvement on what we have, more of a bolster the squad with the same thing. Guess we might need to fill a few holes in the squad becuase the youngsters aren't good enough? Go tap up Mr O'neil and Mr Wenger and see if he they have any youngsters that want a game?

haraven Posted 20 January 2010 Posted 20 January 2010 Good player, hard worker - loved his fourth scoring in the 4-4 match against Tottenham a few years back for us. Always liked Marcus Bent, was sad to see him leave.
Tony Pine Posted 20 January 2010 Posted 20 January 2010 one of the few positives in that relegation season
